oh btw "I'm here to tell you" is just a figure of speech...nothing to be taken literally...like man that girl look so good she made my eyes pop out....just a figure of speech...
I like your mantra but I'm not sure that communicating to someone "I'm here to tell you" would win you friends and influence decisions.
Sadly after more than 20,000 hours of experience instructing golfers from beginner to tour level and also having a personal library of over 500 golf books that go back 140 years I still can't get myself to believe that there is one way to teach every golfer.
I appreciate that you have your way and believe in it.
I have a golf mantra...MUSCLES HAVE MEMORY, POSITIONS DO NOT, ANY POSITION YOU ARE TRYING TO ACHIEVE IN THE GOLFSWING, IF IT IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO THE NATURAL MOVEMENTS OF THE BODY, CONSISTENTLY IT IS NOT GOING TO WORK..yes I have read a lot of books and I'm here to tell you I understand why players don't get better....If a person understand the sequence of motions of the body for the ground up and their natural motions all you have to do is relate them to a swing motion..you cant make the body
Some very interesting insights about the behavior of the hands in relation to impact.
Out of interest are you a professional golf instructor or an enthusiast?
Reading your comments makes me think that you have read a lot of golf books and I'm just wondering whether you have a golf academy that I would know about.
I really appreciate you spending your time sharing your knowledge and I'm also glad that you're enjoying the swing analysis.
chk out time slot .17 and look at address position and compare the hands in relation to the inside of the left leg at impact around time slot 13:54 at impact....i believe this to be so important but yet so over looked....Moreover it is critically important to the proper release of the club through impact. Also it's a consistent point of reference as to where and when the club releases through the ball..
What alot of instructors fell to understand that the hands do come back to their orginal address position at impact, but only in relation to where they were positioned at address with the body..EXP. Marks hand are positioned just inside his left leg at address as his hips turn in the downswing his left leg shifts it orginal address position; at impact the hand have moved but they are still in relation to the inside of the left leg as they were at address..this is whats not understood of impact
Thanks again for writing a comment. Really good thoughts and I especially like the advice about visualizing the club going back on the wall in the backswing.
at 10.48 in your video is also where I believe is the only reason you shift your weight from one side to the other in the golfswing; it gets the club to come down the plane inside the backswing plane,. Many player don't truly understand. Think of this, visualize the clubhead going back on a wall in the backswing, and on the downswing pull the clubhead off the wall(hint weight shift) club has no other choose but to swing down a different plane because your body has shifted.( hint lateral motion)
Thank you for taking the time to write a comment about this video.

Wow it's a while since I heard someone talk about the 'anatomical snuff box.' The author G. Garden Henry was the first author I came across who discussed their involvement in the golf swing. I believe his golf book was called "The Dynamic Anatomy of the Golf Swing" and he was a British surgeon who discussed how the golfers physiology influenced golf swing function. A very interesting book to read. Thanks for your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
focus on the anatomical snuff boxes which are the wrist joints just below the thumbs...these wrists joints pulls yolur thumbs towards you,,which creates your downswing angle...where as the wrist joints below your pinkies are what helps you cast the club....pulling down with the anatomical snuff boxes are what creates the lag all players are looking for...also this is what move the club inside the downswing plane,,,,GCP you have some great info help me better understand impact...
Thanks for your kind remarks about my video analysis. I like you am a big fan of Mark Wilson and although I haven't had the pleasure of meeting him I get the impression he is a really nice guy. Golf is a great game because of the people who play it. Great values really do keep this sport way out in front.
This is an awesome video/analysis of a great golf swing. Extremely help, thank you for taking time to do just an indepth job DIFFERENT subject: Mark Wilson is a super nice guy, I was a lowly volunteer at the PGA at Southern Hills in Tulsa in 2007 and he actually took a few minutes to chat for a bit which was a thrill for this long time golfer/golf fan.
I'll put an instruction video together over the next few days but for now try this drill.
Address the ball and overlap your bottom hand over your top hand on the grip until only the thumb and forefinger are on the golf shaft and hit some shots swinging your arms back to 9 o'clock and through to 3 o'clock smoothly.
Gently pull the club with your top hand to lead the downstroke and let the golf club release itself fully past the golf ball. Let me know how this drill works for you and good luck.
Another great video Lawrie. My question is..... Do you have any drills or tips help maintain lag in the golf swing? I took a video of my swing the other day face on and it's clear I am releasing too early. I can't find any drills to help with this. Any advice would be much appreciated. I love your videos.
To have a forward leaning shaft and the clubface closing the correct check that your grip pressure and placement is correct.
The left hand controls the clubface rotation so check that you left hand and thumb position is behind the shaft enough.
Many of the amateurs I have coached tend to have their left hand/thumb position too much on top of the shaft making it difficult to close the clubface enough through impact. I would check here first.
OK ..great video and even better analysis...they best on the net.......Now my question or problem is...the farther my hands are ahead of clubhead coming through the ball, the more likely my clubface is open or I am blocking a shot to the right......how do you keep a square or slightly closing clubface and keep the foreward leaning shaft? I can't seem to have both.....and I sure would like to!
I really appreciate you commenting on my golf instruction video. I hope that you can take away some of the key concepts to help you play better. It's a detailed analysis but only because keeping golf instruction simple only makes it incomplete and ineffective. Thanks again for commenting and good luck with your game.
Thanks for your comments Mike. What kind of ball flight do you produce consistently (high, low, right to left, left to right etc) with your driver and also your short irons?
Excellent analysis! Really spot on! Can you do an analysis for hitting thin shots? My miss is an off the toe, thin shot. I don't take divots with even my short irons, and would like to fix this.
I'm so pleased that the lesson helped you to hit better and more satisfying golf shots. You are dead right; there is nothing new under the sun, and in golf, and it is good to see that the old stuff still works. Thanks for your comments.
Tried this day and It was almost like magic. And further validated by Sam Snead look at the video entitled Snead start of the downswing where he describes pulling the club down. Great stuff.
Thanks for the question. My suggestion is to let the club drop first so this lowers it towards the original address plane and then pull on it. You want it to drop to a lower plane to have it pointing towards the base of the plane line. I believe that the 'pull' comes after the drop or first dimension of the down-swing. The pull dimension or second dimension throws the clubhead outwards and forwards (3rd dimension) which makes up the three dimensions of the downswing.
great lesson. My question would your thought be to begin to pull directly at the ball and then down the target line? First move to drop or pull directly at the ball?
Yes Mark Wilson is playing some great golf at the moment which is good to see. You're right he has a very simple swing and is a good model to learn from.
Thanks for your clarification, and good luck with your golf.

This maybe the best golf post on youtube. I have watched hundreds maybe even thousands.
You clearly understand the false (but understandable) logic of the self taught or new golfer.
Many teaching pro's show you the pieces of the jigsaw and then try and get you to put them together later.
When you do a jigsaw you need to see the picture before you start looking at the pieces.
This is what i think you have done in this video. Shown us the picture. This deals with so many wrong swing ideas.
