  • I do this to my tennessee walkers mane all the time. It's very pretty on Lilly.

  • Nice video! You make it look so easy. ;-)

  • haha I did this to my hair and it actually came out pretty cute :)

  • i think its welll good..... but does it work on a short mane?

  • I've done one of those braids before! There so much fun. But it's kinda hard to do a running braid on a horse that has "sections" of mane if you know what I mean. I did this at a summercamp and it sure is a crowd pleaser!!!

  • Gorgeous, I'm going to a horseback riding camp where I get to do my horses hair and stuff on the last day for a dressage show, and I am so doing this!!

  • sounds like Nick Jonas in the background... the music playing :)

  • @EBBLstudios dandy brush or currycomb is not good for your horses mane! A hairbrush is perfect to use as long as u use detangler WHICH SHE DID!!!!

  • I use a curry comb and a dandy brush for mains and body, Hair Brushes arent good for the horses.

  • the mane just like that but that goes on top of the neck was born in portugal its called "trança à portuguesa" meaning portuguese braid. the more you know :)

  • how do you get there mane to be so long and beatiful

  • thats soo awesome ive always wanted to know how to do thhis

  • How big is lilly?:)

  • i tried doing this to one of the horses at my barn after watching ur video and it turned out AWSOME !!!!!!

  • if you do the braid off to the side like you did how long can it be left in?

  • @Maizira97 I wouldnt keep it in without supervision of you horse. They are rub braids off on fences :)

  • AWWWWWWW SO CUTE

  • This video was awesome!!! I tried it on my horse after watching this and it turned out really well! Thanks!!

  • @horzelver17 On yahoo answers I heard something about an addictive called MTG or something like that and it depends on the horses diet and also I heard that you should call you vet and she if his diet is rite for him

  • I am trying to grow out my gelding's hair so that i can do this but the horse he was pastured with keeps chewing it off and now there is 6 inches wide of 3 inch long hair!!! I hope our new pony doesn't do the same!!!

  • how do you get your horse mane thicker

    plz respond any one <3

  • what horse is yours i love your videos

  • Her mane is GOREGEOUS! I'll have to try this, but I'm so bad at braidng :D

  • i love your vids nice horse

  • That's awesome, shes a pretty horse... that's also a cool braid

  • Whooo Hoooo! Go Lilly. I love TWH's. I am the proud owner of a registered one!

  • my horse has to short of a maine to do this when i got her the guy that owned her before cut her maine so short its long enough to braid but its hard to braid

  • What do you do if your horse doesn't stand still for anything? Think I can teach him anything? He's a stubborn 24 yr old Arab....♥

  • My horse has a REALLY thick mane and I've tried and tried to do one but whenever he puts his head down he ruins it. I also haven't seen anybody adding it to the middle, I usually add it to the left but I'm gonna try adding it to the middle and see if it works out. I may have to put half of his mane on the other side of his neck (he used to have that but i've put it on one side of his neck so much that most of it just stays there).

  • Thanks Audrey! Do you still upload videos? I subbed ;)

  • Comment removed

  • "detangular" lol

  • lovely job I am going to try this on my Shire X Cleveland Bay gelding !!

  • my new horse's mane is so short. I guess I have to grow it out :(

  • Omg my sister did that at a show and the horse kept shacking so it wud fall out and would have to fix it!

  • hey can you do another video of how to end a running braid cause i tried it and couldn't get it to finish.

  • @4evahorselover You just carry on going and at the end you do it as if it was a normal braid and get a piece of thread or a rubber band.

For the rubber band : you tie it at the end of the normal braiding

For the thread you rap it around the end and secure it.

Either way , that's how I do it . She may do it differently though. (:

  • @ILoveMyPonyCaprice Oh thanks I just ended it straight away and it fell apart.

  • Your pony is very pretty :P x

  • @13horselvr I was wondering if u could make a video on how to adjust the stirups on a western saddle????

  • @liberatingstrife dang! Cuz I have a QH and I REALLY wanted to do this to her mane but it's to short and it's SUPER thin

  • omg i wish i had like 5 horses!!!!

  • grr i luv running braids but i have an appy so her mane is soo short... :(

  • Thank you so~ much--my mare has the world's most dreadful ewe neck and this fills her out a bit more when it's done downward instead of straight down the crest.

  • This turned out really good! I've been planning to try it on my foxtrotter, she has such a beautiful wavy mane :) shes not clipped and it takes forever to blow dry her after a lesson haha. just wondering, does it flop around a lot when cantering and jumping? probably not if its used in dressage a lot. BEAUTIFUL!

  • Does the braid work with a shorter mane?

  • Does the braid work with a shorter mane?

  • awh thx for the help

  • Oh kool thx

  • aw that horse is cuteee :)

Im gonna do that on my horse heyden. I roached his mane in oct. 2010 so its just started to fall back onto the right side again and im gonna grow it out.

Heyden is gonna look like a total girl because i put him in pink in purple lmaoo

  • Could you do this with a shorter mane?

  • @sashipants No; this style is generally used for breeds where it is incorrect to pull or cut the mane--Gypsy Vanners, Haflingers, Friesians....

  • Thank You!

  • You shouldn't braid your horses mane or tail really often cuz it like slaps and kind of whips your horses neck when it tries to shake flies... I mean if you really NEED to for a show i guess thats fine but yeah

  • i did this on a little patch of hair on a horse with like half as long a mane as that! he looked sp pretty! but his mane is so thick it was hard!

  • Thanks! Years ago someone tried to "explain" to me how to do this and I didn't get it. Now that I actually see it in front of me, I get it. I absolutely love the look and it keeps everything nice and pretty. Have you ever turned your horse out with one in? Does it keep very long or help with growth?

  • i can not! for the life of me braid a running braid!!

  • I love running braids :) I have an Anglo Arab, and typically cause Arabs and half arabs have such long manes we do a running braid on them :) everytime i show i do a running braid in his mane :) awesome video BTW !

  • Do you need a horse with a long mane to do this? :)

  • I never knew how to do this -now i do :L thanks! ooh my horse's name is Lilly too :)

  • omg, you are pretty, i wish i was as pretty as you xD and your horse and beautiful to :)

  • @BarrelRacer955 omgg tell me about it!!! watch some videos of asti last winter he rubbed it soo bad i have to shave it all off and it just now about 4 inches :( its so sad lol

  • @13horselvr lol Ok. It just makes you so mad when your going to a horse show and cant do anything with their mane. lol

    xo

  • thank you so much for making this vid i use this style for shows now if u have anymore styles plz post

  • I think you need a stool, haha.

  • does the braid flop around when you're cantering? i really want to do it to show my arabian but i wanted know because it looks like it would because it's so big.

  • @Unbridled396 you can make it tighter and closer if you like watch hoofhearted101 how to plait a long mane with a spanish braid.

  • your horse has a really nice mane :)

  • Thank You very much... I kept adding it to the left instead of the middle and it always came out lumpy. haha Thank You!!!!

  • Hi 13horselvr. I wonder about you can make a video about how to clamping stirrups on a western saddle

  • Lots and lots of conditioner. Maybe try hair spray or gel. Every time i groom I use conditioner or baby oil to keep the mane and tail from breaking and to make it easier to brust out.

  • Your videos are freaking great!

  • @TechnoGraveDancer Awee thanks im all out of ideas on making videos.. any suggestions??

  • Basic horse anatomy. Different types of braids. Different types of saddles. hoof anatomy and how to pick it properly. Horses playing. When i get my camera back, and the weather clears up I want to do videos. =)

  • i love this! your horses mane is huge!! !:D x

  • @TwilightRider1995 thank you!! and i know i love it till it gets all tangled though lol

  • lol i can understand that :p have tried it out today looked great! :D xxxx

    :/

    haha sorry.

    -harmony

  • @nvrshoutharmony - go to my hope page and there is a subscribe button there! please do that :)

  • See,I have a Bashkir and his mane is UBER frizzy and I have no idea what to do with it for shows,I wanted to do this but didn`t know how,I`m going to attempt it tomorrow

  • yay hope it turns out welll!

  • @13horselvr It didnt,but,hey,practice makes perfect!

    lol

  • For the most part you have the correct idea but if you were going to show this horse with it in it would have to be at the top of the neck. This braid is used in dressage, but also any hunter classes in which your horse has a long mane. Mostly its a sign of respect to the judges, but recently i found out it helps to use as almost an exercise braid so the mane doesn't get tangled in and on the reins. Hope that helps! If not i can give a diagram and instructions for this braid and a few more.

  • at the end i jus braid it down lik a regural braid and you could maybe do it but it would prob be really hard....

  • I noticed that you used Shine- on. If it is anything like Show sheen than it would help to not put it in the mane before you braid. If you put show sheen in the mane, the mane becomes slippery and the braid does not stay in well. I accidently did before i showed and it was almost impossible to braid for the class. just a helpful hint. also its easier to braid a dirty mane so dont wash the mane the day of the show.

  • @MorgansR4ever it works great for me i did a braid in their tail with it and the braid lasted for two months and these are not stalled horses i only took it out because it was starting to get dirty

  • how do you tie off the braid at the end?

and does your horses's mane have to be that long? or would it work if it were about 5'' long?

  • About the 5" long mane you would be better doing button braids or anything like that. I do have instructions for them if you want them along with a few others that would work with that length of mane.

  • i know how to do hunter braids - i show hunter/jumper - i was just curious about the running braid as i think its pretty..

  • i <3 this braid. yeah i do dressage and thats what i do. i think its soooo gorgeous. and yours is way neater than mine):
