braking is one of the worst things to do when you get into a really big slide. keep control by steering where you want to go, only brake if you know the inertia is going straight forwards.
Any vehicle can be safer and faster to drive on ice with Makibisi, a simple tool for traction. The question is whether your life should be worthwhile for 2000 USD of it.
Good control! Ice is not specially dangerous to drive on if you know what you're doing. But most British drivers don't. If my workmates are anything to go by.
I drove to work on the snowiest day, but more that half of the others did not. ;-)
I really can't appreciate someone who put themselves in a position for disaster by driving way too fast in way too large a vehicle and then by a stroke of luck managed to pull themselves out of it.
No luck about it. He never hit his brakes. What you witnessed was someone realizing they were already committed to either doing it right and being fine, or crashing. There was no other alternative. Life.. does NOT come with a pause button to allow you time to figure things out. You either use your skills and get through issues like that, or you crash. He used the skills built up from years of doing that, and it was a very nice display.
to all you morons saying this is a waste of your time, well, the only one wasting your time is your self, get a fucking life, turn off your computer and get out in the world to see some things, fucktards, jesus god damn christ, you people really are stupid...
Why all the hatred? Read the caption. Where does it say "crash, explosion, chaos"? What were all of you expecting? And why not relate your own far more interesting and amazing tales of winter truck driving?
Haha. The rating of one star is because all americans who cannot drive in winter conditions (Ive been there and I will NEVER go back in the Winter, its suicide going onto the roads) and they are probably so pissed off or ashamed by the amount of videos showing how they handle situations like you shouldn't do, that they give this vid a 1/5 so it won't be popular, so as few as possible will see this 10 ton lorry drifting trough a icy turn. Magnificent driving on the edge!
Shit Happens here too. I will try to find the statistics that show car accidents in summer/winter in Usa and Sweden... Remembered that you had almost 3 times more accidents/citizen. So yes, I will gladly stay on the right side of the pond. Haha, the word right side has two meanings!
I have friends who live in Norway and Sweden and they tell me of the fun you assholes have. I work here in the UK, check their shit out, they have more accidents per capita than anyone. And they drive on the wrong side of the fucking road.
you really want to see some funny shit, google icy weather in texas.....where i live, i love my fellow texans, but they cannot drive on ice or snow like those of us who have lived in the conditions.
Ok. I can´t answer for Norway but to get a driving licence here in Sweden, you have to pass slippery driving exercises on a "winter course", Which is a racing course with obstacles on polished steel with water and soap on it! turning, braking, rapid "steer-away-manouvers". Bad enlgish i know :/ This is where you learn that locking your brakes AND/OR full steering just will make it go straight.
I guess you don´t have any such mandatory thing in the US (or England)?
Haha... I could have guessed that you would have oil on the track!! =) We surely regret (economicaly) that we gave up Norway. Your oil would do us socialistic jarheads good!
Anyway, good that you have the "same" system as we do. Im sure that save atleast one life every year!
yeah... as soon as americans start to loose grip, they just stand on the brakes, and expect their cars to the work for them:P they are in serious need of driving skills...
i don't know about sweeden, but in norway it's REALLY hard to get your licence... and the theoretical and practical tests are very hard. it keeps the "blondes" from getting in to traffic, though that also occationally happens:P
I wouldn't say its REALLY hard. Ive seen lots of people that should have a driving licence. I went on a course at school with the teory, about 10+ hours. That was a good choice. Then i downloaded a traffic school program for my computer and used that for some hours, and read the theory book once. I passed the theory test with 61 out of 65, the limit for pass was 54. You dont need cars, you can ski to your destination?!?!?
haha, common predjudice about norwegians and norway as a whole:P "Oh, you live in Lavvos and see snowbears and ski everywhere!!" haha, yeahyeah:P No actually, the snow is beginning to melt at the moment... hopefully it'll be back for christmas... Still, it's extremely icy here nowadays, so yeah:P slippery roads need skill;)
Actually, we do in the Northern states, but in the southern states they don't. Since it rarely snows in the south the people are inexperienced and over confident and thus they have bad accidents.
Ahh, you do have to complete mandatory "slippery test" in order to get your driving license? Shit pommesfrittes... I was almost positive that you didn't have that test, Where doese the line between "northern" and "southern" states go then?
No, it's not during the test, but during the driver education course. Northern states are the ones that always have snow in winter, like New York or Minnesota. Southern States like Alabama normally don't get snow and when they do get a little, the accidents make headlines!
Ok. I wrote it wrong. Then you have the same system as we do. Nice to hear. I know its stupid to generalize from videos. But i do think it should be mandatory for the hole country. One death in traffic is one to much.
omg, i love the bit when you know and the thingy and then that happens, and when that happened, amazing it was like wow, how on earth and oh, hang on, wrong clip...
