I've never played a Silent Hill game but I'm in to survival horror games. Would Homecoming be a good start? I can't find Silent Hill 2 for PC besides on Amazon for $80 and I don't want to pay that much. If anyone could help that would be great.
@Splugger ive played almost off the the silent hills and im playing this one at the moment for the first time. I'm having a good time with it, and the control is great.
@Splugger dude buy a ps2 and grab it for that, i love survival horror like a beast and theres loads of gd titles for ps2. You could also grab silent hill 2 for the ps2 for cheaps. But defo play the second one and the 4th. Great titles. also look into the penumbra series on the pc. very very good. hope this helps. peace.

This game is really about learning how they meant for you to play with the new controls. Many go into this like its an old SH game or they go into it like it's RE. It's neither. Once you get past that you will beat it like any other game. It's actually a good game. The story was good to me. Again, the biggest issue for me was getting accustomed to the controls and the enemies cause each has a pattern based on the new combat system.

@fernandodchusyd from looking at it i would guess, one is the camera angels, you kindove didnt see to well because of those, now it reminds of a shoter, second is the combat, now its like: and one two, three combo!! it was three slow hits to get a condom (how are they called? xD) down, then you hit him on the ground, again 3, and then he had taken some dmg, and you had to step on him too. also shoting is a shoter. And then sound. try a walktrough of SH2 and listen, youll see( hear i mean xD)

Also the game is a little to bright, you dont get all that much use of the lantern. But i need to know, how the siren works, search SH siren, does it come when the dark is coming, or does it have something to do with pyramid head? ALSO... do you think its bad that the paint rips of like in the movie, i think it should go dark like it. mouth full
@MultiSnoopDawg well in the original silent hill game, the sirens used to go when you were in the dark world and coming back to the normal word, unlike in the movie. about pyramid head, he is actually a imagination of james , the protagonist of silent hill 2, he shouldnt be in the movie, the movie was great but not exactly the same way and history as the game, somethings were different. the originals SHs made by team silent, were SH 1 to 4. were all great becose the elements they used. play them

I have friends who never played other SH and are freaking by homecoming, honestly i can NOT play SH2 in the middle of the day right by my dad without almost having a panic attack and SH3 is playable, but VERY hard for me to not have goosebumps the whole time. SH homecoming on the other hand was like a shooter for me with some slightly chilling moments. I could not imagine how my friends would feel playing SH2 or 3 if they though Homecoming was the scariest thing ever.
@lildread1 I loved SH2 but stumping on every single enemy like a cockroach to make sure they were dead was the only thing i didn't like, it was taken out of SH4 I havent played SH5....but DS2 is pretty scary at times... :P
FUCK THIS GAME! the graphics are a disgrace to silent hill and the game is WAY too fucking hard. im on medium difficulty and i'm always running out of ammo because the developers thought it would be a good idea to focus on one on one combat. which would be fine by me but your character takes fuckin AGES to react on your controls. i know they cant copy silent hill 2 over and over again but if this is the result of trying to be innovative i'd rather they did.
the split head could represent Alex's insanity as he is separated from reality and his mind split, similar to having the mental disorder Schizophrenia (from Greek: split mind). This also links to the ending where he is undergoing electroconvulsive treatment as this could treat Schizophrenia as well as other mental disorders.

They focused way more on the combat and less on atmosphere, and the dodge technique is sloppy. Trust me, on the second boss...it is an absolute pain, and it shouldn't be. Luckily Konami got back up with Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for the Wii. 5/10 for this game...
I bought this game, and it scared the shit outta me. I didn't play it because I wanted to, but because I HAD to. I'm an achievement whore, and I only played because of the possible gamerscoore XD
Silent Hill Homecoming wasnt really a great comeback for the Silent Hill series. With a few downfalls to the game its still has its classic gameplay and horror. Id still buy it.
I won't spoil it for people but The Butcher and Pyramid Head are one in the same, also Boogeyman from this game

Silent Hill Homecoming wasnt really a great comeback for the Silent Hill series. With a few downfalls to the game its still has its classic gameplay and horror. Id still buy it.

It noted down on the map where you'd been anyway on the previous games... in easy mode at least.
