@SureSkill , Thanks for looking and your comment too. I think you will find that the noise of my previous R500 was due to the roller throttle bodies and the exhaust too! My first R500 was Ice White Metallic, with Kawasaki Green Stripes. My new R500 has the special limited edition Team Lotus Colour Scheme which is the same as the Current Team Lotus F1 team.

@caterhamtv, thanks for your comment and looking at our video. Yes my R500 did have an interchangeable Windscreen, but on this occasion it was only fitted with the smaller Carbon Aeroscreen. So that's the reason why both Tom and I have wind in our faces!! It makes it much more fun though!!

My dad bought an Austin Healey Sprite, in parts, back in the 60s, just for an economical commuter. I was only around 12, but as I "helped" him restore the car, indescribable strong feelings concerning the car were going in deep. Sadly, he sold the car before I got my license, but the bug for top-down, shift-for-yourself driving was in me, and never left.

@ps3maracaz , Yep Sorry its sold and went to its new owner last week, she now lives in Edinburgh, but I am sure the new owner will have great fun with her too!! It was just time to move on, so I hope all of these videos of my old car R500 CP will be immortalized her eon you-tube for all eternity!!

@teikec Many thanks for liking our videos. I too would have liked to share something like these experiences with my Dad when I was young too. Sadly we never got to share my Caterham experiences together as he passed away this year. All I can say is try to do as many fun things as you can with your own Dad!!
@TrulyUniqueOne , thanks for the comment, yes indeed it does have a Quaife Sequential 6 Speed Gearbox, its very quick to shift through the gears, but the downside is the straight cut gears do make a very mechanical noise!!
Looks like awesome fun.. Word of advise, you need to pull the safety harness in tight, it's no good having the loose and flapping about like that. If you crash into something with the harness loose like that your body continues forward until it hits the harness and then the harness breaks your arms/collarbones. Strap down tightly so your body can't move forward, it's not as comfortable, but it's the safe way to use a harness like that.

@TheRohBoat , Hi there. Yes Caterham do sell their kits in left hand drive versions. However as you are based in Atlanta GA I do not know where your local Caterham Dealership is, although there are dealers all over the US. I also think that Caterham only sell them as kits without engines, as there are problems with emissions and other safety related regulations that are applicable in the USA.
Just wanted to say your video brings a massive smile to my face, seeing your son's reaction is worth a hundred times what the car cost... As a car fan too one of my motivations to succeed is so I can one day do this for my children! Thanks for sharing. -Doug (oxford).

@aerlingus18 , I would have to agree, I am off to a Pistonheads meeting in my R500 in the morning at 07:00, going to be -5C, so will wake me up with 265BHP on icy roads!!

Reminds me of me when my Dad took me out on his trike made from a '69 VW Karmann Ghia (made in '73 when they weren't such a classic). 60hp when new but in trike form it's still fast enough to get the adrenaline going.

@dalongbloke, thanks for the comment. They do seem to enjoy it, but with Tom I needed to put lots of foam padding under his seat just to make the belts fit him in the Tillet seat. You still have to be very careful though, it will be some years before I take him for a long blat I think.
@MetallicaMadman94, thanks for the comment. Yes I do have a Quaife Sequntial Gearbox in my car which makes for quick shifts. It is not a supercharged engine, just throttle bodies breathing through a direct airbox.

My dad had a roadsport but being a manual and not having the 2.0 ford engine it never made those sounds :( not that it sounded bad!

Hahaa tom looks like he is loving it! And i love that sound the Caterham makes when it goes along! Sound of a god that is hahaa and the Caterham R500 is the best car ever!! hands down..im not just saying that coz i was taken out in the Top gear red and white 1, cough hahaa 141mph baby!!!!

@shellshockable , thanks for looking, my R500 sounds better now I have taken the Carbon airbox off, and it breaths directly through the bonnet cut out and pipercross air filter!!

@kagolko , thanks for the comment. Tom only recently started at Reception School, so I have not had chance to drop him off in the Caterham yet. I am sure there would be plenty of his little friends at School looking for a ride!! The weekend looks like it going to be nice, so loo out for some more Toms Blat videos!!

@Blatter7 , thanks for the comment. Yes I would love to take Tom and Lucy of course, but I have to wait quite a few years so that Tom is oldest first, and as he is only 4 now that will be some time!! Still we can have some fun on short blats in the country such as this!!

@dalongbloke, thanks for the comment. They do seem to enjoy it, but with Tom I needed to put lots of foam padding under his seat just to make the belts fit him in the Tillet seat. You still have to be very careful though, it will be some years before I take him for a long blat I think.

have you got a quick shift clutch on that r500??... oh and its sounds like you got a supercharger in that car.. haha ma dads got an csr 260 :)

@MetallicaMadman94, thanks for the comment. Yes I do have a Quaife Sequntial Gearbox in my car which makes for quick shifts. It is not a supercharged engine, just throttle bodies breathing through a direct airbox.
