I do contribute (happily) I paid around $25,000 in income taxes alone in 2008. I have served on Mercy Ships for free - this alone represents $15,000 in lost wages as result of donating my time. I can't speak for the USA, but the top 10% of income earners in Canada pay 50% of all taxes.

Oh no getting a job and benefiting others and not serving your entire self interest. Trust me you would not survive in free for all system. Too selfish to form bonds and too little common sense. The fact that you are failing in what you would deem as undesirable conditions that you call our society shows you are weak and not adaptable....
