Hey BrownBrother27, we had 76 stations in Minneapolis too but they disappeared in about 1990. Markets change quite a bit-even now we've lost all our Phillips 66 stations and Marathon is expanding. Shell was making a comeback about 20 years ago but it didn't last long. There are a couple of good books out about gas station logos which give some marketing history around the country and are worth reading if you're really interested. Check out the big online booksellers.
I echo the other comments - thanks to you and the entire Union 76 crew for these great commercials, I would never change the channel when Murph's 76 would come on. You're amazingly great on TV! Please do more!
Well, Jill, if it's really you, hope you're doing well!! Used to really enjoy seeing y'all come on during baseball games because it was always fun to watch your ads. We knew there'd always be a funny or touching payoff at the end of each spot. Major props!
I miss those Union 76. It takes me back into my childhood days. These commericals remind me when I was watching Chicago Cubs games in the mid to late 80's. What happen to Murph. Bring back the name Union 76 instead of just plain 76.
I used to see these during the Cubs games when I was little. I wished they'd make a TV show out of them so we could see more about the goings on at the station.
Does anybody know the actors name who played Murph?

Does anyone have any Union 76 ads with a Stevie Wonder-influenced harmonica player doing the company's jingle?

Why are there no more 76 gas stations in the Midwest? I remember when I was young, there was a 76 gas station in my area of Michigan.

I remember seeing those on WGN, too, on cable. They had a lot of ads with ol' Murph.
