wow totally misleading information. First off HID bulbs dont have a filament that burns like halogen bulbs. so OIL will not effect the bulb or the arc that ignites the gas. as far has harnessing is concerned..you can just plug your factory harness into a ballast. that's what the second plug is for. to plug into the ballast and then plug into your factory harness really poor explain of HID's if you want better info visit HIDGuy.Net. Thank you for taking the time to show as and inform us. I have a Volvo xc90 2005 I m wondering if that would work with my car specialty the error canceler.
@cmanclan101 If you have halogens on your vehicle then these lights would upgrade your lighting output and allow you to illuminate the road much better. These HID kits are very popular with people who need more light output and want to get the new technology with out having to pay dealership prices.
I want some "HID's" so bad, but one time I purchased them, and I had them removed the next day because on my Silverado they would flicker so damn much =(. Im gonna look forward on buying that "anti flickering" monitor , I hope that solves my issue
I bought HID's for my Lexus es300 yr 97 (Hid's 8000k bulb H7 low beam conversion) i put them on already but i haven't got a flicker yet!...but to be sure do i need to buy the Capacitor guide? or is it for newer cars?
Hey quick question, I am install a HID kit on a 2008 Dodge Ram and the HID's in the low beams are randomly cutting in and out (not like the normal flickering you get in most cars when they need a canceler kit). I had this same problem happen when I was trying to install a kit on the new Dodge Caliber's as well, I tried installing the normal canceler kit that usually stops the flickering and such but it made no difference. Do you know what I need to fix this? Will a capacitor fix it? Thanks!
i have a 2005 toyota camry, i have recently purchased hid 9006 6000k hid conversion kit 35w , do i need to purchase a relay harness for hid, or does my car already have oem relay harness installed ?
i have a 2005 toyota camry, i have recently purchased hid 9006 6000k hid conversion kit 35w , do i need to purchase a relay harness for hid, or does my car already have oem relay harness installed ?
@heartbreakid87 you dont need to get a relay harness, but i would reccommend one. its only 10 bucks on ebay and will reduce electrical stress off ur stock wiring. but no your car does not have a stock relay harness. the factory wiring is a whole harness that splits for both left and right headlight.
oh dear - you haven't even got a clue what the difference is between a resistor and capacitor. why sell old and outdted HID stock that you now say will not work on cars built after 2003 that use CANBUS!!!!
If you're thinking of buying, go elsewhere and buy a CANBUS compatible kit.
They are also illegal to fit in reflector headlight units in many countries. Do it in the UK and your insurance is void - that means 6 points and a large fine. They don't work with reflector units due to the shape!!!
I have after market hid lights and the light is scattered. Any reason why? I checked the inside of my projector lenses, and it does have that metal shield just after the hid's that I thought was responsible for making the light shine straight from left to right. Instead its shining in the road and in other drivers eyes.
Question! My car is 2004 toyota corolla LE. After I installed my HID headlight there are some problems going on. When I already started my engine, I cannot turn on or off my HID light! Sometime when I start my engine the light start flashing by themselves! I think the problem is with my day light system! is it right? Please Help! thank you!
Hey what if my ride has like plastic hard covers on the headlight that the rubber cover like this honda, how would you work around that? Like obviously you wouldn't leave the covers out right? And if we do the wiring the covers won't fit.. any help/suggestion plz?
i have a question how did u get ur fog lights to stay on cuz i installed hid lights on my 02 tundra there h4 h/l n they work fine but my fog lights wont turn on anymore!!! n if i turn on the switch for the fog lights n turn on the regular lights they stay in hi beam mode unless i turn off the fog light switch again by the way the fog lights are stock!!
Well done, does anyone know the difference between the blue and the white light. I really would like to have the white ones because personaly I think the blue are amature and cheap. -Gil
@wdbwfan The only difference is the color. And the actual light output by the blue one is less. Also physically the human eye can only take so much blue light, so after prolong use (road trip) yours will become fatigued and you might get headaches
@wdbwfan the K rating determines the color, i think 4500-5K is pure white, there are charts online you can look at, 6K might also be pure white but if i remember correctly is slightly blueish, 8K is pure blue, and so on (correct me if im wrong, doing this from memory)
The common aftermarket blue light is rated 6,000-8,000 k on the color temperature scale. Many simple plug-in-kits include these bulbs because they are initially more attractive to buyers.
Pure white (the ones in BMW headlights) are 4,300 k.
5,000 is going to have a hint of blue that might be enough to attract police attention.
we bought a hid kit from top hid kits .com and when they are on low beam they are blue but when they are on high beam they are white what would be the problem any help would be appreciated
@RobinLorenz some dual beams only have the hid on the low beams and the high beams are regular halogen and other dual beams have both high and low hid beams
I bought HID kit and it doesn't work on my car, computer bloks it,says there is an fault .Any idea how can i avoid that problem? Some people say it won't work on newest model cars ,im driving WV Passat b6 2006
whats the differance between bi-xenon and xenon? and are they the same as hid? i have a 96 mercedes benz e320 that i am trying to pimp out. any advice?
@flyfly4u Hi Bi-xenon means that you have 1 bulb for your High/Low Beams Instead of 2 Seperate bulbs. This 1 bulb has a magnetic sliding part that will shift the lense in and out. HID refers to the ballast+HID bulb. if you dont get the ballasts your lights will not be HID (high intensity discharge)
Listen... can someone please explain the actual purpose of a HID kit? I'm not being sarcastic either. I looked at a car today that I'm interesting in purchasing but the owner tells me that he just installed new HID kits. From my understanding (more or less), they are illegal? Someone help me out please.
@ParadiseofTruth They are only illegal if your car did not come with them off the manufactors line with them....But that Jersey law every state is different
It's called a Digital Ballast and to prevent ''flickering'' of the High Intensity Discharge bulbs upon first few seconds of being turned on; one should also purchase a relay wiring harness that matches with the head light bulbs of your current vehicle that you are modifying. Remember to always match up pos and neg on the ballast power supply wire seeing (+) and (-) on the side of the ballast where you plug the wires into the main light bulb power socket i.e. High/low/ground wires
forget about foglights. are you saying put it into most cars and it will work without thier capacitor perfectly fine? cause they said it flickers without it and it needs the cap to stop flickering
@StealthAuto i have a 09 dodge charger do i really need the relay and anti flicker this that, i don't understand if hid use less power then 55w halogen then why would you need a relay i ordered my hid and i am sure it will work with no flicker if i am wrong i will post a message apologizing

Additing a capacitor to the relay wire harness will only cost you less than $10.00
Buy a capacitor from any electronics shop and solder them to the signal wire of the relay, polarity should be followed as + / + and - / -.
pinoyeh 2 years ago
Yeah, our capacitors eliminate the flickering issues that most new cars will have. They rock!
StealthAuto 2 years ago
@StealthAuto shouldnt something like this capacitor be included with this kit?
otherwise the hid kit is not a good product untill you purchace the other product which they sell lol
rps13sr 2 years ago
its very uncommon that cars need a capacitor for the HIDs to work correctly.
The kits are sold by the bulb type that they fit, not for the particular car.
It is the particular car that will have or not have an effect of flickering hid because of pulsed voltages being sent to the headlights.
THEblackjackGOD 2 years ago
@THEblackjackGOD
so it should come with the capacitor for the hid to work for it to be a KIT
rps13sr 2 years ago
look take the h11 bulb, put it into the low beams of a honda with dtr, it wont work, so you need a cap.
Put it onto the fog lights its ok and will work fine, put it onto almost any other car and it will work fine.
id say maybe 1:50 cars needs a capaictor for the kits to work, so its sold seperately.
THEblackjackGOD 2 years ago
