  • that guy is so fast that the sound is off

  • R.I.P. Sifu Wong

  • The Burst - Leading Side kick

  • vorrei capirci qualcosa, ma purtroppo io e l'inglese non andiamo molto daccordo XD

sai per caso se in rete si trova una versione con i sottotitoloi?

  • true jews are negroes

  • GOOD FORM

  • MMA = bullshit. JKD was created to be able to adapt to any opponent. Don't compare commercial styles with This. Bruce Lee was unbeatable.

  • Are you a 14 y.o?

BL would've been destroyed by any top MMAer today and would probably been training the MMA amalgam if he was still alive (using JKD as a philosophy).

I'm sure BL fighting method has a lot to offer but this nutriding is just ludicrous.

What is a "commercial" style anyway? :)))

  • Well, maybe the person on the video U consider him not able to fight in a ring. But Remember, he is just making an exhibition to show the move. Bruce Lee was unbeatable and all who met him says so. Why? Too much strength and speed, and he was a student of the human physiognomy to create moves that give all the power a person can transmit.

  • A commercial style is something simple and "striking" that is promoted on tv or internet to gain rating by competitions or any other show. Just like the Tv wrestling, everyone know that is just acting, but watch it anyway. MMA is just a free style including Punches/Kicks/Grappling. And JKD Had it First, as shown in "Enter the dragon".

  • So you're saying that Boxing and Muay Thai (the two primary striking arts used in MMA, certainly seen on TV) are "just acting"? that's good stuff you're smoking, son.

"JKD Had it First" - agreed, see my comment above - the true JKD (empty hands at least) is mostly MMA now. Pay attention - I'm using the term "MMA" as a reference to the training method and the styles practiced for the 3 ranges (striking clinch and ground) and NOT as a reference to the prize fighting bouts.

  • Where did I ever say anything about the video itself?

BL WAS unbeatable (maybe, did he won any full contact tournament like, say, Joe Lewis?), but the martial arts have evolved since the introduction of modern MMA.

One has to wonder though, why don't his disciples kick ass in the ring TODAY? (BTW, I would answer that his real disciples are the ones taht are doing MMA - they are truly following his JKD philosophy)

  • I can ask too: Why Tony Jaa is not fighting for money? or Donnie Yen? Or all others great fighters? When people say that Kung Fu is only dancing and not for fight, I just send the video of the shaolin monk vs TKD, is an exhibition only, but is notable the effectiveness. JKD fighters are not involved in fight for money in the butchery of UFC or MMA events, 'cuz no all you can do good has to be for money. JKD is seflgrowing and honest expression.

  • "Tony Jaa [...] or Donnie Yen"

Both are movie ACTORS. None of them have any fight record so what exactly makes them "great fighters"? kicking ass in a movie?

(Note that I'm not saying they CAN'T fight, that's the thing - you can only speculate).

According to Wikipedia Tony Jaa practice a form of Muay Thai so why wouldn't he step into the ring (even MT ring, no need for MMA) like so many MT fighters? contrast him to Buakaw Por Pramuk for example.

  • And why is it wrong to be fighting for money? Acting for money is OK but fighting for money in the ring, with a referee and an adult opponent who agreed on being there and fighting under the rules and a doctor ready to intervene is morally wrong somehow?

  • I'm not against fighting for money, but the real martial arts was a way of honor, like samurais for example. Maybe if u compare records, you can say Van-Damme is a great fighter? Is not too difficult defeat Karatecas in competition, have him fought other martial arts champions? No. If u are the best at boxing it doesn't make you the best against all the martial arts. And other thing, in all business the people can buy triumph.

  • @banarelo ummm wiki suxs

and Tony Jaa is a badass when it comes to Muay Boran

also the only practical martial arts that are good in real combat is

    Krav Maga and Systema

  • @banarelo by the way you should know doesn't mean you very good record in a competition mean you're the best. not to offend any people i'm not saying the competition is useless, i'm just saying that doesn't mean you're good mean you must join a competition, it won't make you famous, rich, greater in selfdefence, just some dinky trophy.

  • was ist das.....der meister hat noch nicht mal balace der typ tretet und wird selbst nach hinten gedrückt.wer keine balance hat sollte sich nicht meiister nennen....

  • This guy is pushing his side kick. No knock out power.

  • knock out power?

the side kick is not meant to knock your opponent out, for in jeet kune do, you NEVER aim kicks at your opponents fac (which is the location you hit to KO someone)

the side kick is used to knock somebody back, it is essentially a defensive kick (like a boxing jab). That is why he pushes it

  • pff. stand in front of it.

i doubt you'll be saying that.

    besides this is pure demonstration.

  • @talon115 u child

  • And so What!

for training purpose the clip delivers good instructions.

Respect for Ted Wong...and let's keep up training instead of talking about others!

i'm sure we can still learn some stuff from Wong...

  • ted wong looks like a beginner in this video not an advanced bruce lee student wheres his skill at

  • Good kick! But sometimes you wont have 4 feet of space between you and your opponent,

  • In JKD, we also practice the shorter range sidekick from a standing position with very little or no slide up of the rear foot. The reason for the long range footwork is that we're taught to shove the opponent back to create space and then kick. This genereates way more power than a conventional sidekick. It's not always possible to do this, but that's the idea behind it.

  • hey just out of curiosity do you practice Jun Fan JKD? or concepts?

  • I practice concepts. Frankly, I don't agree with people who think that if Bruce Lee didn't do it, we shouldn't. I still use a lot of Wing Chun principles like Bruce did, but I've also incorporated other arts that he didn't do like Choy Lay Fut, Muay Thai, and Chin Na.

  • yea of course i totally respect that because thats the idea of concepts isnt it? to just use Bruce lees concept and apply it individually to ones fighting capabilities

  • yea i agree but you can use a sidekick at almost any range, just aim at the knee or shin

  • one good kick

  • If the kid IS moving back, it's only a little. The kick STILL delivers mad force.

  • he has to move to absorb the force...kinda like a spring

  • no he isnt!

  • you can tell hes trying to gain his balance he really did almost fall.the other guy is really strong

  • your weak douche

  • dam

  • I bet without the assistant, the punching bag would touch the ceiling...

  • um, its not a punching bag.

  • Oh I'm sorry, it must be an unicorn that's he's kicking on then.

  • i think what hes saying is that its alot heavier than a "punchbag" its harder and heavier which makes it dangerous to punch it. its a kick bag

  • @amazingdany without the bag the assisstant would die

  • wow !!!!

  • nice
