  • Cute and amusing. Thanks!

  • It ain't no "I'm Too Sexy", that's for sure...

  • 17 people don't like tea

  • One of the best songs! Can you believe this stuff used to be chart music? I must admit seeing this video kind of spoils the mental pictures I always made in my own head, think I'll continue just enjoying the record.

  • DAVID BOWIE!

  • haw meny cups of tea did thay have about 7

  • @gogojack1324 They are British. As am I. TEA.

  • I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Bernard Cribbins released pop hits, even though this is the first one I've heard of.

  • @Setebos Hole in the Ground was even better !

  • @spanker30 --- thanks! it was rather nice.

  • Bernard Cribbins is the awesome. Voiced the Wombles, was one of the folks in Casino Royale and just crushed it on Doctor Who. AND he had a series of pop hits. This is one of them.

  • @vbartilucci AND he was on one of the best episodes of the greatest sitcom EVER, Fawlty Towers.

  • Total genius, lyrics performance and attitude. A masterpiece !

  • this was produced by the Beatles' producer George Martin, wasn't it?

  • ......we don't have funny songs anymore...

  • How many tonnes of rubble landed on those lads' heads? Gawd knows what health and safety would do these days!

  • Bernard Cribbins...a comedy legend.Gawd bless ya!!!

  • Has anyone heard the Polish version of this?

  • @MasterTenku No! Is it anywhere on YouTube?

  • @MaskedMan66 I can't find it by googling the lyrics. "Couldn't lift it couldn't even shift it, we were getting nowhere, and... so... we telephone my cousin she come around with 4 other people, we lift it eventually, we work for 9 extra hours but it's okay we don't charge"

  • like this if your listening to this song from 49 years ago :)

  • @191khronos I'm only 44, sorry!

  • @MaskedMan66 i meant listening to the song, which happens to be 49 years old! i, for example am 24, but i still love listening to this song

  • brilliant song from way back , but still makes me smile when i hear it. im like doppler2009 the what-ever-it-was should remain in your imagination then it could be whatever you want it to be . all kids make it something different

  • Excellent. Love this song. Anyone spot the continuity error?

  • is this a leak from the builders handbook?

  • You know this song was produced by the same guy (George Martin) who produced all The Beatles records! Great song though.

  • I'm a bit disillusion that the unnamed whatever-it-is was turned into a piano for the video. My childhood imagination had a lot of fun thinking up things that had handles, candles, etc.

  • This clip is both hilarious and depressingly accurate to anyone whose ever tried to move a piano, or watched another group of people try. Especially the less competent sort of builder/DiY enthusiast. And for the record - they really do drink that much tea!

  • They must have been pissing like racehorses after all those cups of tea.

  • I love this song and video, its brilliant, I can`t stop watching it., always laugh when charlie comes clumping up the stairs from the floor below

  • Right said Sven, give a shout to Jonesy - Up comes Jonesy from the floor below.

  • So we Had a pack of weed

  • They're going to be damn jittery after all that tea they drunk...

Seriously though, you don't get better than this =)

  • 12 people have run out of tea

  • they are trying to move a piano!!! :-) i love this song, that and hole in the ground!!!! great!!!

  • Muffit of tea anyone?

  • What the hell are they trying to move? That's the thing that's always confused me.

  • @ilkfc123 A piano.

  • @ilkfc123

    I'll give you a clue.

See that thing that they are trying to move that looks like a piano?

    It's that.

  • "I'm too sexy for a cuppa."

  • One of the best songs ever written...

  • Can't beat the British Workman....!!!!

  • this i my dads best song R.I.P DAD

  • 12 people cant lift a piano

  • Fred was way too hasty.....Now i'm off for a cuppa...

  • 12 people got crushed by a ceiling, love it

  • Amazingly enough, this song still seems to be relevant today, in some ways.

  • 12 people couldn't move the piano

  • so is the whole song about moving the piano?

  • @2004PontiacGTO Yes, isn't it delightful? Notice how they didn't mention alcohol or girls even once.

  • @akeel456 yep :) i wasnt being smart i was actually wondering if it was about the piano, its a top song, love it!!!

  • yeah, know the feeling...ahhhh, childhood memories. GREAT!

  • god I love this, takes me down memory lane, They dont sing songs like this any more lol

  • love it!!

  • Fantastic childhood memories!! Hole in the Ground is the other kiddie classic!!

  • Luv this ta bits!!!

  • He asked for a cup of charlie!!! Junkie!!

  • He is fitter than me, and as sharp as a tack.... He should be knighted, he does more charity work than anyone I know.. I love the man... Paul

  • Yeah Bernard !!!

  • Bernard Cribbins=LEGEND

  • Typical workmen lol

  • Brilliant stuff. The only and only Bernard Cribbins!

  • SUCH A GOOD SONG! 10/10 FANTASIC CLASSIC I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO THIS SONG FOR YEARS AND IT NEVER GETS OLD!

  • Bernard also played a companion of the movie Peter Cushing's Doctor. Perhaps he was still Donna's granddad, only younger.

  • Well George Martin of the Beatles fame actually produced this - just trying to find out who composed it

  • banging tune...!!!!

  • yea sad enouth to say i counted them lmao

  • i played this song for my grandad LOL 6 cups

  • Bernard did Never Mind The Buzzocks and his sense of humour was so weird Noel Fielding asked him to join his band.

  • @lewisner i like prawns, theyre nice....

  • Classic English cheerfulness!

  • lol love whoever uploaded this (the best song ever) nice :)

  • true legend get addicted to this song easily

  • How many cups of tea did they have in this song? Anybody keeping track?

  • @dharmaseed 6 cups of tea lol

  • Absolutely brilliant.... I heard this as a kid and even caught myself singing it in school as a joke with friends. Classic!!!!!

  • 'You never get nowhere if you're too hasty.'

    Philosophy at its best.

  • sorry no, this is the full version. and yeah the copyright thing is rubbish...

you dont need to OWN the copyright, aslong as you dont sell it to people....

  • any reason why this isnt the full song?

    and copyright doesnt matter...

  • I remember this from when it first came out - that dates me! Thanks for the memory.

  • brilliant, made me smile anyway

  • Those puppets look like Weebles with boots on.

  • Hi - any particular reason for disallowing embedding of this vid?

  • @Mortifrog - Because it's not my copyright so I automatically disallow embedding on everything I post...

  • @TaggleElgate - Well you must do what you think is right, but it doesn't make any sense to me. It would make more sense for you to disable embedding if it was your copyright. Youtube is all about sharing - especially rare and hard to find stuff that you couldn't get on DVD even if you wanted to. A lot of people like to embed stuff in their blogs and on Facebook etc. I tried to embed this on Facebook, but the rest you know. ;-( look around and see how much copyright stuff is embeddable! ;-)

  • @TaggleElgate and by the way, thanks for posting! (even if you have disabled embedding)

  • @TaggleElgate I'm glad to finally encounter someone who has respect for other people's work. too many people treat copyright like it's an inconvenience, rather than a loss of income or at least credit for the work they've put into it!

  • @TaggleElgate didn't stop you uploading someone elses work though did it

  • @TaggleElgate

    That doesn't even make sense.

  • @TaggleElgate That's no good!

  • @Mortifrog just find an identical video, or attempt to embed it anyway and when they press play they will just be linked here instead

  • @Mortifrog Well i just embedded it?

  • HahHAhAhaa CLASSSICOO

  • that is sweet lovin it :P

  • Thanks for this clip. My mum used to sing it when we had a lot of work to do. I lost Mum in 2007, and miss her heaps. Wonderful memories. Thanks again

  • old Cribbins was in the 1966 film 'Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D.' as a copper, Peter Cushing was Dr Who...

  • Classico! Live forever Bernard!

  • my old fella used to sing this and "Hole in the ground" to me and my twin when were young kids. makes me smile when i hear it. i sing it to my baby now

  • he was in an original too darleks invasion 2150(can't rem proper title)

  • @sparkyjeff2 It was called "aleks - Invasion Earth2150 AD"

  • I still like 'Deeply Dippy' better

  • if you're a 'Dr' fan rememder he was originally with the Dr in the daleks film,in his youth....always a superb guy

I'm having a cup of tea as I watch this.

    =)

  • @HumanistWikitopian looooooooooooooooooool

  • I haven't heard this since I was a kid-- and it's still a classic .It may only be a pop novelty song, but musically and lyrically it is very witty. Thanks for posting.

  • This number was the theme of HM Treasury's IT infrastructure team for many a year as there was three of us running the blasted place and "Fred's" identity will have to remain a secret forever (in other words we took it in turns ;) )

RIP public service in UK doing the job cheaply and efficiently with barely a complaint..... And rot in hell all who managed us and wasted shed loads of cash on silly toys for senior management!

  • This is scary as hell...

  • This is hilarious! I'm fourteen and have been bought up with 60s music, bu this is one of my favourites

  • Comment removed

  • Things really were better 'back in the day', weren't they people ? Or am I just being old and sentimental ?!

  • Bernard Cribbins and Brian Cant, the voices of my childhood. I remember watching this video when I was a lot younger (I'm 46 now) and I still find it funny today. Ty Taggle for posting this x

The Cribmeister also made a good showing in fawlty towers too!

  • Classic!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to have to replay this at least half a dozen times. I loved this song when I was a kid!

  • @SueLocd LOL, Me too. I used to get toldoff by my Dad for singing it all the time.

  • Hilairious, love the claymation, classic bit of "working class Cockney" whimsy! Bernard Cribbins should rightly be regarded as an English national treasure.

  • This so reminds me of my dad

  • classic!

  • @blackwhimsy... what about all the narrating and voices for 'The Wombles' too.... What a brilliant actor Bernard Cribbins is and he was also in 'Carry-On Spying' too.... with a very young Babs Windsor... And 'The Railway Children', as Mr Perks the Station Master... :0)x

  • this is genius

  • Lol, this is great.

  • haha cool

  • I was looking for "hole in the ground" and found this by the same artist !

  • For some reason I can't stop watching this. And I a
