Man, the drones seem to have a knack of hitting civilians. It's fuckin amazing how those high powered missiles always seem to find women and children. Now that makes it really hard for the guys who have to go into those villages later and into regions where many civilian deaths have happened. I don't know what sort of blockhead generals think this is fighting. Go in, visually identify the enemy and engage them. Drones have a function but not the way Obama is using them. It is well known and admitted policy that if NATO forces were under fire from a building, they called in an air strike and leveled it regardless of who else was in or around it. I'm sure the Taliban would not use their own houses and families as attack bases knowing this could and did occur. I believe this is how most civilians are killed and why this policy is being changed.

That wasn't a lie, it was an exaggeration. There were small amounts of chemical weapons including remnants and labs uncovered in Iraq by US troops after the 2003 invasion. As for the Tonkin Gulf incident... It was a different time back then... We didn't know the Russians were incompetent! Either way, we didn't really lose or win the war, it started before we entered and kept going after we left. We kinda just beat the shit out of the North and took off without finishing the job.

The Vietcong and NVA suffered massive damage and had been weakened substantially, even North Vietnamese General Võ Nguyên Giáp admitted he was surprised we left because they were on the verge of defeat. Also, US troops had withdrawn from Vietnam completely by '72, Saigon didn't fall until '75 after a massive blitzkrieg from the North.

What makes you think it's the Taliban blowing themselves up in markets full of people ? You know there are dozens of militant groups in Afghanistan fighting international forces? Only two weeks ago a US general called on all groups in Afghanistan "to follow the Taliban code of combat" meaning they fight in open areas most of the time and try to avoid civilian deaths...but accidents happen.

But the U.S did not start a terrorism group, they idiotically funded the ISI to secretly support the war against the Russians. Which the Russians have done this to us far to many times as well. I guess its personal.

this morning i watched a historical show of ganhis kahn and the mongoles....their stratagies remind me of these taliban.....they never fought face to face they would send a group to attack from the left one from the right and dissolve the defences so that the main battle formation would attack the main objective directly or from the rear ....it was brilliant and in this way they could defeat larger armies.....surpriceing how those ancient tactics still work on sophisticated armies....

Man, the drones seem to have a knack of hitting civilians. It's fuckin amazing how those high powered missiles always seem to find women and children. Now that makes it really hard for the guys who have to go into those villages later and into regions where many civilian deaths have happened. I don't know what sort of blockhead generals think this is fighting. Go in, visually identify the enemy and engage them. Drones have a function but not the way Obama is using them. That is just stupid.

I don't know how you know that. In my experience the drones hit entirely the wrong houses. And even if they were 'family and friends' do you think it is honourable or legitimate to strike at 'family and friends'. That is why the US and those who support them are seen as barbarians. It is why the battle for hearts and minds is lost. You will never take Afghanistan with drone attacks or even a gound campaign, it can only be achieved by winning over the people so just killing randon civilians ....

It is well known and admitted policy that if NATO forces were under fire from a building, they called in an air strike and leveled it regardless of who else was in or around it. I'm sure the Taliban would not use their own houses and families as attack bases knowing this could and did occur. I believe this is how most civilians are killed and why this policy is being changed.
