Did anyone else notice? Her English was really bad... accents and pronunciations aside...Her expressions, speech and grammar was really below average. Her replies to the interview questions made no sense at all. I am not sure if it's a language problem or an IQ problem. ..."you have to keep the heart rate going bc you have to keep up with the dog and dogs are so cute" WTH! I am so confused. She went off on a tangent and it made no sense at all. She needs to take some speech classes.
@grapefruitmango77 She didn't say "You have to keep the heart rate going." She said "It really~ keeps your heart rate going....." LOL She was saying that the reason she likes to walk her dogs in the mornings/evenings are that it keeps your heart rate going since you have to keep up with your dogs' pace and also they are cute so it's fun overall. I'm thinking that's a reasonable and a decently constructed answer, don't you think? (:
she was born and raised in LA, we asians will always have an accent, some accents can be heard more than others, DEAL WITH IT; doesnt mean she has poor english
OMG whats with all the Accent post...seriously pplz....PPLZ do have FLAWS ..so they're like..human? but since when accent is a flaw?Daniel Henny doesnt have accent cos he cant speak korean..We're asian will never have the full British/American/Australian accent. LOok at Natalie Tran shes born raised learned the Aussie language but clearly she doesnt have the Aussie accent....google on Kevin Rudd-Chinese..His chinese is terrible for natives but considering hes white..thats pretty awesome job man
sorry to say, but i prefer lee da hee when it's about Korean celebrities speak english (regardless whether they did live/have been lived/still living overseas or stay locally)...her spontaneous, fluency are good.. imho, han ye seul takes some time to think --- most probably translating her Korean thinking to English -- before answering the question. this is common for people with English as their 2nd language. her vocab is also limited since she keeps repeating the same words and "you know2"
Han Ye Seul is actually A Korean- American American-Korean uhm koramerican uhm well, she's actually Korean and was raised in L.A. California. She sounds a little valley doesn't she?
We shouldn't be embarrassed because of our accents that are created by our second language. I'm born in NYC and I have a little bit of an accent, you can only tell if you concentrate xD
@flameretardant maybe she surrounded herself with other koreans when she was growing up so she never had a strong american accent. I know it sounds stupid but I know Koreans here in Australia who were born here but because they spoke korean with their friends and family they never developed a full blown Aussie accent. I'm probs wrong but yeh just a theory...
a lot of my friends were born in a america and they all have different accents. If you don't speak a 2nd language you probably wouldn't know this, but sometimes your second language interferes with your first language, vice versa.
@ieatdung true that. alot of ppl actually were just born in the states and move back to their mother countries as kids. So you can't assume someone speaks perfect english just because the person has an American citizenship.
@ieatdung exactly...I mean if suddenly stopped speaking English and only spoke Korean for some odd amount of years. I think I would have an accent if I went back to English after a few years...
@ieatdung I'm English since my father is half British-half Korean. So I speak Korean. My mum is half Spanish-half-Filipino. So, I speak Spanish, Tagalog, Korean, and British English. So sometimes when I speak in English my Korean and Tagalog interferes with my English. I, sometimes, mispronounce f or p. Anyways, this is true. just saying :)
im not in da US so I don't know much abt their various accents but imo i thk she does have an asian (kind of) accent, like how she says the words "neighborHOOD, GOing, keep..."
I can't describe how it makes me feel that way, some kr friends of mine hav ts kind of accent too even thou they wr born n raised here (im in NZ btw).
BUT I do realize that her english is native, i mean looking at the way she uses her words and how she phrases what she says :) ahhh i can't explain what I want to say!! >"<
I'm Korean, born in Korea, raised in CA. I have a Californian accent. Whether or not you're born in the states or a "native English speaker" you can have an 'ethnic accent' and pick up non-native syntax. Notice how she says "stuffs". There's more than 1 way to be a 'native speaker'. It depends on your immediate environment and what you grow up hearing and how often you use it. I'm guessing people commenting haven't hung out a lot in LA or specifically Koreatown. :P
She is at such an advantage. If she ever wanted to enter the American market, she would have a much better chance than Jun Ji Hyun or other actresses who are trying to do the same.
she def has korean accent.. all of my friends(including me) who speak good English have the same accent and its just like hers hahaha.. didnt know shes from LA tho. but thats whatever. she speaks both korean and english fluently and thats a good thing, isnt it?
it's understandable that she has some Korean accent as she has been living in Korea for about 10 years since she debuted and speaks only Korean most of the time.
she has the korean accent yet she was born and raised in LA?! I am a little confused. I am a Korean American myself.....She speaks well enough but has a strong enough Korean accent and her conversations are chopped up into shorter sentences sounds more like foreigners speaking english.....Definitely she got American English accent also.....LoL
@classicpiano123 I was born in Canada, but i still have an accent when i speak English mainly because when i was raised i spoke in my native language so i learned English was a second language, it could be the same for her
@titoshinigami yes i thought about that also. also it could be the fact that she lives in S. Korea now and speaks Korean most of time for last 10 yrs or so. even native americans have several different accents and some are very difficult to understand (southern accents, texan accents, even montana/wyoming accents) when the speakers' accents are very strong.
@AllstarHunE what is your point? I read she was born and raised in LA and went back to S. Korea 10 years ago so she is a native an English speaker. I have friends living overseas for a decades but they don't have foreign accents. Her acfcnets are very strong; I only stated the fact.
@57YL3 Get over yourself! And learn to use the word "ignorance" properly. People are products of their environment. She's faking the accent. And...you can take that Anti-American hate tone somewhere else. Because THAT is truly a sign of "IGNORANCE".
@bomchi I know, I read the comments. Usually though, when someone goes to live in another country after learning a certain language, they have some kind of accent, so I was just surprised.
Well, As a korean who is passionate in languages her English is not bad not all. Having an accent is not necessarily a bad thing it's sort of thing showing where you come from and who you are PEOPLE!

@gwajadanji it is a hard language. But I think that if you were born and raised in US, english should come easier than to those who come over to study or to those who study in their country. Cause living in the US, we've learned to speak english since pre-K all the way thru college. ^_^
It's because she lives in Korea now and after a while you start to get the Korean accent sortof. Same as if a Korean person came to America and lived there for a long time
Yawn. Yet more ignorant dags that think all Asians are the same and automatically speak broken English. Even when they grew up in California. A lame attempt at trolling is a sad, sad thing.
@shawtyvwj because she was born and grew up in los angeles, ca. she attended until she graduated in college before going to korea, and pursue her acting.....
@kawong111 Yah she was from LA, so for being raised up in the states, her accent and speaking would be considered average, not too fluent, but maybe she moved back to Korea when she was also young, I still like her though.
@shawtyvwj she was born and raised in the US. Most other singers--or more correctly, song writers-- were born and raised in S Korea, so of course their English wouldn't be as good.
This is Han Ye Seul (Leslie Kim is her English name). She spent much of her life in the US before going back to Korea to focus on acting and modelling. She's my favourite Korean actress. <3
umm....she spent a little time in australia while she was young, i dont see any problem with her accent. and @rakoong im sick of this shit, i dont think you realised but WRONG GIRL. if you even bothered to find what the title said you wouldnt have said that, her name is han yeseul sorry you were too lazy to go and translate the title of the video. and plus, lee dahae wasnt making fun of filipinos, it was the hosts who were making fun of her accents when she was being legit.
Han Ye Seul you're one of the greatesdt Korean Actresses EVER !
I Really LIKE you , you have a unique natural beautiy unlike other korean actresses who done plastic surgeries URGH I always thought of them as beauties but they turned out to be FAKE (>_<)
work out, work out, work out, you know you know you know.... haven't learned any new words yet lee da hae to use in your sentence? huh! then had the nerve to mock the filipinos....
good diction, pronounciation and grammar! its very seldom korean celebs who could speak english fluently. she grew up in LA thats why... han ye seul is one of my fave korean actress along with song hye kyo, yoon eun hye, son ye jin, kim tae hee, and jang seo hee... i love han ye seul ^^

This is Han Ye Seul (Leslie Kim is her English name). She spent much of her life in the US before going back to Korea to focus on acting and modelling. She's my favourite Korean actress. <3

what the hell, 이다해 was famous for being 날라리 and she was fugly. Do not try to compare 한예슬 to frinkin' 이다해. 한예슬 >>>> 넘사벽 >>>> 이다해

I heard she was born in Korea, and her family moved to US when she was like 6?
She was in same kindergarten with Andy from Shinhwa in Korea.

umm....she spent a little time in australia while she was young, i dont see any problem with her accent. and @rakoong im sick of this shit, i dont think you realised but WRONG GIRL. if you even bothered to find what the title said you wouldnt have said that, her name is han yeseul sorry you were too lazy to go and translate the title of the video. and plus, lee dahae wasnt making fun of filipinos, it was the hosts who were making fun of her accents when she was being legit.
