Why is this so good and yet his album Listening Tree is so boring and lifeless? Its like he overproduced the "liveness" out of the album. Which is a real shame IMHO.
I can't focus on the video because my 2 year old daughter keeps playing both my guitars and her drum set. :D (In all seriousness, this looks amazing!)
My question is... how are you getting your sound so crisp right off the bat? I know you write your own programs... but its just so sharp, what sort of effects chains am I hearing here?
I like to think my visuals are a visual version of Tim Exiles awesome tunes so using a couple of them here's a video - i really want some feedback for further development.
this is awesome. he gets such a brilliant groove going and it builds up so nicely, and live too, really great. Not sure about the dancing but hey, you're very talented so I guess we can let you off!
The trouble with this Radio 1 performance is that you need to really see what Tim is doing to truly appreciate the genius behind the creation of this track - Otherwise, it's a bit like having a ventriloquist act on the radio!
You know, this is still one of your strongest videos. Though I get this was done by the BBC you should do a few more of these (i.e. more of an evolving, full composition than an experimental noodle). The immediacy of your approach is breath taking yet I'm sad to only have this and those NI spots to share with people unfamiliar with both your music and technique.
He does show a lot of skill in terms of how he is using all the tools he has.. I can't even get my head around a guitar and 3 pedals hahah... the music is ok though, but he does put our modern day DJ's.. uhm.. i mean DGays, to shame.
Saw you at Imogen's gigs: both Birmingham and London. I just can't get around how good you are, and it's an area of music I couldn't really have seen myself getting into before seeing your show.
yeah, this is great! good tunes! pls, also check out our video, just type, jam experiment video file 3. we are still amateurs, so dont be harsh.. pls leave a comment, thanks!
AAAAAAAAH. i left my browser open with about a million tabs up, and this just started playing, and for the life of me i couldn't figure out where the hell the music was coming from. GAWD.
once i realized my computer wasnt possessed i thought this was quite nice.
@smaha88 yea I hate how youtube videos will just start playing automatically. Its not that hard to push play, and if you have slow internet you want to let it load first.
Its conceptual, the song would sound the same if you didnt see him make it on the fly. Its a package deal and I believe it such foundations. Its not just audio but visual. Ideal for live performance. The rockstar as it is known is aged and becoming an old hat.
You are much more clever in your inane tactic by calling me out, right?. With your demeanor it must have been quite some time that you ever had a deep conversation with anyone. You must have loyal friends that dont celebrate every time you leave the room. Fuck you and everything you stand for.
Also with all the music tech folk who are going to going to watch and scrutinise it it would be pretty fecking difficult to fake convincingly enough to get away with it.
i just saw him in chicago with imogen heap. ive never heard of him till tonight, but he was incredible! He started off the show by giving the audience a bag of potato chips, recording a few people cruncing down, and turned it into this fantastic beat! he closed his set by giving his mic to the crowd and letting them pass it amongst themselves each making random noises and saying things, and turned it into yet another amazing song! fantastic!
How the hell do you figure out that he doesn't have the basics ? .... bassdrum + snare with a small gap in between is pretty much the most basic beat that you can find.
