There is nothing wrong with using feeder snakes if you don't use wild caught animals and can be certain they are parasite free. I know many people who raise cornsnakes and leapard geckos that end up with a kinked up snake/lizard and sell it for feeder price or give for free to someone who has monitors or tegus. After all, monitors eat other reptiles in the wild all the time. All monitors have some amount of parasites. These animals have really tough guts! Circle of life. I see no cruelty here.

I should start off with the fact that ive spent a LONG time dealing with monitor and know there care very well and in a non-offensive way i would like to tell u what youre doing wrong.

1. feeding wild caught food bad because of countless parasites along with the fact that you shouldn’t feed a sav snakes.

2. The cage provided is WAY too small a sav that size need a min. sixe cage of 4x4x8.

3. Not enough substrate. savs need to burrow.

4. only one heat lamp. savs need VERY hot temps.

by the looks of it that is a sierra garter snake.  these snakes will release a powerful smelling chemical when harmed and believe me it is not that pleasant. Just feed him a mouse or something with no harmful smell

As nasty as a garter snake smells, you'd think they would taste terrible, and that the lizard wouldn't eat it. I guess this proves that savannah monitors will eat just about anything that moves. This is great, because I have a sav, and there are a shit load of garter snakes in my yard, but I always assumed they would taste horrible to my lizard, so I never tried to feed him any. I guess this means free food for my monitor.

totally depends on the situation. if they were in water. the snake would win. if the snake came from behind and constricted.. it would win. if the dragon caught the snake eating. it would probably win. and if it managed to bite the snake and get away. it would win (because of the highly intensified bacteria that has the same effect as a hemotoxin). but i think the snake would probably be more likely to constricts the lizard. even if it has been bitten, it may kill the dragon and then die later
