@seroyer2 HAVE you EVER been in this? HAVE YOU? Talk shit get hit! I have been in a Z06 (Not close to this quality) and it was acceptable, this is leather wrapped! It is decent.
maybe one day they will create a robot that will come out of your trunk and change your spare, since most people are too fucken lazy to jack the car, take of 5 or six lugs, if they even know what that is, take off the fucked tire, put on the donut, and drive to that old favorite American store, walmart, or the audi dealer if you want your 1000000000 dollar tires. they also shove a complimentary cock up your ass while they serve you and your ms. two jumbo cock meat sandwiches.
It may look cheap or be cheap or whatever, but your paying for all of the engineering that went into that car. Your getting something fast, faster than some super cars, not all, but I would spent 100k on a vette and enjoy saving 300k or so and beat that 500k lambo. lol, Who gives a rats ass about luxuries, those are for lazy people. When your GPS goes out I hope you can figure out how to get home. lol,
@metalgtp i love how people say the zr1 set a nurburgring record.
1. has you ever been to germany? (yes?) then you should know that nurburgring does not set official times for street cars
now with that being said... go (use google if you have to) find the official nurburgring website and try to find the zr1's time...it should be easy right? as you said...it set the track record so it should be up there under #1 .. but its not there why? see item 1 (ask yourself where did this # come from?)
Broo tell me where do you want drive that shit corvette.???? in your dad's private runway in your back yard...? cause there is red light every 30 second and the cop is behind your fat ass all the time .
To real car enthusiasts the cars exclusivity is irrelevant. The base Corvette is a monster, who really cares that it looks similar...so does the Scuderia/ base F430, Superleggera/ base gallardo, Et cetera. My point is no matter which vette it is, it's packing enough to frighten you at the line. Cornballs care about minor interior quality. The exterior in my opinion looks as good as any of the Super cars. Real enthusiasts get me!
I'm with you man. The ZR1 shows what GM is capable of and that is making a serious car to destroy anything 110K or less and run with cars costing more than double. People also forget that these drivetrains are bulletproof as well. It is hard to think about the interior when after 11 seconds, you are rapidly approaching 130+ mph.
I love the corvette zr1!! It is truly a supercar!! And the best part!! The zr1 gets near 20 mpg!! Thats WITH 638 sweet bone breaking horsepower. Man do i love the zr1!!!!
This was a fair review of the car. Although this Corvette is an absolut wonder, the interior was clearly at the bottom of the priorities list for GM. No big deal but would be nice to have a re-designed Interior.
Hes right about the exteriour not being much to look at either. Would be good to look a bit more exciting or alteast modern. What makes this car perform is the oversized engine. Viper and Corvette has the largest engines in any performance cars while european sportscars go for more refined and light weight engines with alot more technology. Also americans use plastic, steel and "aluminum" where full price sportscars use carbonfibres, kevlar and light metals.
Oh really?..."oversized engine" ehh?...Janusha?...what about the Bugatti Veyron?...doesn't it have an oversized engine, with 16 cylinders, 4 turbochargers, and 12 radiators??..ah retard?...is that what you call the "latest, advanced, cutting-edge European technology"??...BULLSHIT!!!...and even with twice the amount of cylinders, it couldn't keep up with the world's fastest street-legal production car, the SSC Ultimate Aero...which happens to have a Corvette-based V8 engine!!!....GO FIGURE!!!!!!!
Speed isnt an achievement. Race cars have been going the same speeds since the 1950s. Just put numberplates on them and hey.. a sportscar. The only thing new is the styling, quality and handling. An 80 year old jewelcrafter makes the pure gold top of the gear knob for each Koenigsegg car by hand. If you buy a Pagani Zonda you get tailored driving shoes from the man that supplies the Pope in Rome. The Corvette spends 8 minutes on a conveyor belt being welded by robots. You get what you pay for.
Who really gives a half a shit about a gold shift knob or getting exclusive shoes? Does that make it a better car? Oh, and you should never mantion price in a vidoe about a ZR1, because it has that covered. Its preformance can compete with those of the best, for a fraction of the cost.
Im explaining why luxury cars are expensive. And as Ive said numerous times.. 40% of european supercars are sold in USA. so clearly when americans get money they buy European. Because at that quality, exclusivity and heritage bracket, there is no american competition at all. I think that is weird that you got 1 supercar in the worlds most car loving country... and no exclusive luxury cars at all. And dont even mention the Hennesey or Saleen. Saleen is out of business and Hennessey is a tune shop
No luxury cars? So i guess Caddilac and Lincoln don't exist. Besides, barely anyone here is buying luxury, foriegn or domestic. The markets on small and fuel efficient. And the ZR1 isn't the only American supercar. You forgot the Ford GT and the Dodge Viper, for instance. And why not mention Saleen? S7 Twin Turbos are still for sale, and raping competition everywhere.
They hardly rape competition.. Saleen is out of business and Ford cut its GT short by 500 cars before closing it down a couple of years ago. It really makes me laugh when you compare a Cadillac and a.... lincoln to internationally competetive performance vehicles.
and i'll let you in on a secert, your country doesn't even make a car priced over $4,000. now why is that? is it because romania is still using wagons and buggies like in van helzing. dumb dumb dumb
it is obvious that europe doesn't have anything for america in le mans and american le mans either. tell me why? the aston martin team doesn't have shit for the corvettes. ferrari?. ... they break down so damn much. goes to show you what americans can do when it comes to making a car handle endurance.
I really don't understand how people consider the build quality and styling of the Corvette subpar. After sitting in porche, mercedes, maserati, lambos, jaguars and BMW's at annual auto shows, I still think that the Vette's interior is great looking and very functional. More so than most of the cars I've been in. I just think that too many people talk about build quality and styling without first hand critiquing.
because Americans dont understand the insane effort and quality put into european sportscars. They see a red car and a blue Corvette... Dont look at the details. However 40% of Ferraris and Lambos are sold in USA so clearly.. when americans get the money.. they want the proper stuff. And if you want proper stuff.. america dont have anything to offer. Its ZR1 and thats it. the entire list of american sportscars.. And please dont go on about this silly SSC rubbish.
I think normal Americans understand that paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for cars no better than our own is absurd. How many people actually buy exotics for performance? Very few. GM displays the ZR1, bare bones, to the public at auto shows, simply to help consumers understand and see for themselves the remarkable, world-class engineering that goes into such a car. Ferrari, Lambo remain illusive to maintain a reputation of exclusivity and prestige. Not because they're better vehicles.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
haha went down.. thats just funny. American car business is screwed.. sure many of them are struggling. Saab and Opel are going down but why? because they are owned by GM. Fiat just bought Chrysler. US car industry failed but still americans are hailing their cars, their old testament leafsprings, cast iron frames, ill fitted, squeeky plastic interiors and pushrods as the best. Why make proper cars when these cheap 3 ton gas guzzlers work fine for 5 years til they fall apart. The american dream!
how is the frame cast iron when it it made out of hydro formed aluminum? how is the car a gas guzzler when it is making over 600hp and getting over 20mpg. what other car does that? none. how comes a pushrod motor can smoke a high tech gtr or a ferreri 599? tell me this....the car is under 3450lbs...how is that two tons? are you stupid? my american classic car is old as shit and isn't falling apart....tell me the last time romania made a great car that people hyped about. never? thats right.
Actually, I'll agree on the interior part. I'll disagree with everything else. Gas guzzlers? You're fucking joking, the ZR1 gets amazing gas millage for the power it's making. You're talking about cars that are 50-60 years old, so shut the fuck up.
tell me some thing janusha, what car has norway or anything close 2 u have made worth talking about. or even close 2 the zr1, u sure r funny talking shit and do u guys make your own cars? or are u guys like the rest on the bench watching the fast cars go buy. talking shit cause they dont make real cars there?name me at lest 2 that can hang with the viper or vette.u sound mad, full of hate.
i love the ZR1 and corvettes. i love em. but there are cars that can hang the the viper or vette but when the viper or vette wants to take a lead it will with ease........
How soon we forget... There's been many a European car company that fell on hard times, or simply vanished:
Jaguar, Aston, Rover, MG, LandRover, TVR, did I forget anyone? The only reason Jaguar and Aston are still around is because of Ford. BMW rescued LandRover.
TVR was bought by some russian billinaire kid who run it to the ground Jaguar and Aston have struggled but is now very good. Dont know about Land Rover but I lived in UK when Rover was in crisis.. ugly stuff.. Then the germans bought it and couldnt believe how under qualified their brittish staff were. They soon dumped it again but kept Mini. Apart from Rover, none of these struggled because they were making wrong cars for decades tho. But look up Brittish Leyland. Thats a proper disaster.
No most of those european sportscars are bought buy by rich people that cant drive for shit let alone change there oil. Thats why they put in a whole bunch of technology into their cars that make driving so easy a 6 year old can drive it.
awesome car, great looking, interior needs to be vastly improved, the seats suck, treble. I think the first thing to do with this car is to go out and get a good set of Recaro's
No matter what anyone wants to say or think, this is a corvette with a supercharger! Nothing more and nothing less! For my money id buy a 2 years old z06 and put 6 or 7 grand in the motor and call it done!
seems american performance cars are only a base for home improvement. like the Mustang.. they fit all kinds of stuff to it and the Ford GT.. everyone puts twin turbos into it. And now the corvette. There are tuning shops in USA from coast to coast. They even tune new Lamborghinis straight from the factory. as if fitting "rims" and tuning a Lambo is actually an improvement. Its really a mystery why they cant make their own.
I don't really agree that the ZR-1 is a supercar. Arguably a supercar killer, but just lacks character and flair in a sense . Calling it a supercar based on it's performance would be like calling an Ariel Atom or Caterham a supercar who can frighten a lot of the big names. Still a great car though!
Best super in the world?? Now that statement could be argued to the end of time. It's a matter of opinion I believe. I get get ur analogy of wut ur saying though; but to say an icon that's been around since 1953 doing everything from giving middle class ppl the ability to own a sweet ride, to making any owner in a car twice as much shake in their boots & still doing it almost 60yrs later doesn't make since. If anything Corvette has just as much character than anyone. Flair..as in the
No doubt the americans have finally created a proper car but when they say "world beating performance" and best in the world, Ferrari beater. Well.. first of all.. sure its quicker than SOME ferraris but nothing beats a proper Ferrari ment for racing. Like the Scuderia or the Enzo. For its money, the ZR1 is some of the best you can get because its massproduced and cheap-ish. But why cant americans also make a full price supercar. There are clearly people wanting to pay for the full package.
Nothing does beat the out right tear dropping race bread density the a Enzo or the new Scuderia has. Ferrari covered all angles of a race car.. low production numbers, completely hand built cars. They are the rare, & high end $200,000 + sticker priced cars that make Ferrari's, Lambo's etc in such a different type of high end super car category ur referring to. I agree thos cars badas* cars. But on paper u have to agree it puts down better numbers than just about any car out in every way..
You and this Janusha sound downright threatened by the ZR-1. Hilarious!!
All of this superficial elitist talk about heritage and exclusivity is for pompous, ridiculous asses like yourselves who can't afford anything better than a Maxima to begin with.
Bro wut are u talkin about..lol. I sound threatened by the ZR1? please explain how or wut u mean by that..? I've been in love with Vettes since I could speak..and all I could do is point at them and try to get the parents attention. So I see nany reason in my comments why "i'd be threatened by my favorite car.
cornering grip, slalom times, breaking, exceleration, lap times the list goes on. So that aspect it does beat and or match Enzo, Scuderia times. That said it's missing what they have, that feeling of no penny's spared to get ur perfection. Rather than penny saving, corner cutting feeling u get from Vettes. They're the best at wut they do in there own categories, it's just a different way of getting there. 1 question u had was" But why cant americans also make a full price supercar"..
The Americans can..& they have..in their definition of a super car. Why can't they do wut Ferrari, & Lambo etc have done..? They can..they just haven't...yet. Same reason why if I asked..why can't Ferrari or whom ever build a super car without having to sell ur house to buy one? ;-) They can..they just don't care to....yet...?
well 40% of all Ferraris and Lambos are sold in USA so clearly there are lots of americans out there with the money to spend on exclusivity, heritage and quality. Im sure many of them would buy american if they could. But they cant because Lambo and Ferrari (and alot of other brands) have no competitors coming out of USA in that price and quality range.
Half that 40% of people that live in America "The melting pot" probably moved here from another country lol. I agree though, I wouldn't mind seeing an American high-end super car. The thing is though, I don't think the world is ready for that. The American car stereotype would hinder sales too much. I couldn't see ppl taking it serious. Corvette is already on the way to creating a high-end super car & I think they're being smart about it slowly gaining buyers trust. We'll see..
most of americans come from other countries.. whose language do you speak again? :) Seriously there are some that try to make full price supercars in USA. the SSC aero, Saleen S7, Mosler. probably others like Vector. They try but they are so weird, single purpose and often awkward machines to own and use. they will never reach any great numbers or have any wide public appeal. I think the Shelby Cobra Concept would be good start. Its weird such a big car-country and only 1 proper sportscar left.
I dunno- why don't the Japanese make a "proper" supercar, why don't the Swedish, why don't, why don't, why don't.....
because race-prepped Ferrari's etc are basically botique cars, and only a handful of people can afford them. Ferrari doesn't make everyday automobiles that people depend upon- nor do they make trucks or commercial vehicles.
Why doesn't Ferrari make a dependable, fuel-efficient sedan to compete internationally? Because they can't.
The Japanese DO make a proper supercar. The Nissan GTR. and several others. Even Sweden does. The Koenigsegg CCX is among the absolute top in the world. These countries also compete internationally with dependable efficent saloons and a full range of cars. The notion that supercars arent dependable is what people used to say in the 80s - 90s They are now dependable as any high quality product. I dont see what your arguement is here. Im just questioning why USA fail at making interesting cars.
Well, let's see- are the top selling vehicles in the world all considered "interesting"?
And by the way- Not sure how the GTR is a "full-price" supercar on par with Ferraris just because it's not a domestic American product.
It's clear that Japan makes a full range of dependable cars- almost not even worth mentioning. As for the rest of Europe- particularly the countries form which the McLaren and Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini come from-- not so sure.
hi, I think the U.S. does make interesting cars... some people just have to open their minds to the idea of a super car built somewhere besides Italy or Germany, and I'd hardly call the GTR a super car.
40% of ferraris or lambos and such cars are sold in USA so clearly there is a huge market and people with money. Im sure alot of them would buy american if they could. But at the moment there is nothing made in USA at that quality, heritage, exclusitivity or price rance. Why American cant establish their own brand of supercars is a mystery to me. The ZR1 is the only option from USA and its way behind in build quality, styling and quality even tho the engine seems good. But GM is going bust so...
I see your point! However, it is my understanding that a car is the worst possible investment! Unless you bought a Bugatti and plan on hold it for some years. I don't know how many exotics you've owned, But I speak for the common man... I make 350 a week after taxes and I see throwing away 200k plus just speaks arrogance and vanity. I believe the first lambo was built because someone wanted to go faster and faster. So I'd go the warren buffet route and keep the Buick and get a ZR1 instead.
As far as American Build quality! interiors can use some work but they have been trying to address that with the latest models.. I have a Chevy Suburban 2500 mind 90"s with over 180,000Miles on it... Never had major problems.
Ive owned Ferrari 355 and Lambo Diablo but that was back in the day. The computer business isnt like that anymore. I see your point of course. You cant save up and buy a car like that. you need money to run it aswell. crashing a 355 cost me the same as buying a new Toyota Celica. It just gets annoying when this ZR1 is hailed as the best on the planet when it clearly isnt. Its also sad that USA which to me looks like the worlds largest car loving country, only offers 1 proper performance car.
Ford GT. Because the euro market is run by its engineers. American market has a balance between consumer and manufacturer. You ask the wrong question. Question is can the euros make an exciting performance car for less than 70K like the Japanese an U.S. Their cars are way over priced. There's no way you can compare cars without comparing price and if you can't get it right with 250K something's wrong.
Well... In these days of crisis the super expensive cars are the ones that notice the hard times least of all. Sure they have some cancelled orders but they manage to sell their cars. There are loads of performance below that price in europe aswell. its not all Lambo and Ferrari. The Caterham and Lotus Elise / Exige deliver amazing performance for alot lower price. There are probably 30 other brands that i cant list here.
.."look at me" ego stroking reason why ppl spend 300k on a car; then no it lacks the amount of flair in that category. Couldn't flair also be looking in disarray as Vette can do something just about as good if not better for a fraction of the cost of it's competition? I think so, but then again that's IMO. & to compare a historical car like a Vette to a go carts on steroids doesn't make any sine. Yes it frightens big name companies, but it's also a daily driver,& not mention it's a full size car
I wouldn't say the Corvette ZR-1 is 'discreet' if that's what you're trying to say with 20" chrome wheels, the see through hood which I personally think is a bit naff, flared wheel arches and most seeming to be produced in either yellow or blue. Also claiming that something has flair because it has been around for so long is like saying the VW Beetle has flair, it doesn't really does it. Bear in mind too that the very first Corvette that you referred to in 1953 was by no means a supercar either.
Although don't get me wrong, I do really like the ZR-1 and it is probably the best performance car for that kind of money. You can't argue with it's performance at all. However I live in the UK and over here the ZR-1 starts from £125,000 now which roughly works out to be $175,000 and there is no right hand drive available. It is a shame on that front, Corvettes would sell really well here if they didn't have these 'issues' shall we say.
I love the reviewers that say that the interior is awful. With all of the performance and street ability too, $100k is great. I'm sure GM could have made the interior on par with Ferrari but at what cost? An extra $100k? The only gripe I have about the interior is the lack of support in the seats. If you are going to build a car that can perform like it does, don't you think that GM might want you to stay out of the passenger seat when making hard left turns?
PPl, STFU about the GTR. It only goes 0-60 in 3.3 sec when you void the warrenty. Normal conditions you run low 4's. Anyway, the ZR1 is a true American supercar!!
WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP BITCHING ABOUT THE INTERIOR?? Seriously! The car's not meant for queers who want some interior designed by Martha Stewart. Give me a seat, steering wheel, a set of pedals, and an array of gauges and I'm happy. Shouldn't the main focus be on the amazing power train for a little over $100k?
man i agree with u a 110% that car cost 100k and giving 400k lambo, 300k ferrari and 200k porshce a huge run for there money even out runing some most if not all of them
he is absolutely right about the exclusive design tho, it lacks thereof big time. Where i live corvettes are like everywhere you go. So a Zr-1 wont really impress you all that much if it drove by since your so used to seeing the c6 shell everywhere. You really have to a be a sports car enthusiast to enjoy this amazing car.
corvettes look fantastic either the base model, zo6 or the superb zr1. over 50 years of design that you can see from the first to the last model, what other car can you say that of?
I did not know that. but most tests say 3.4. Stupid Edmunds says 3.7. but they don't like manuals and can't drive in general. Yeah 3.3 sounds a little fast for RWD with no weight on the back wheels. And the GTR did pull ahead right from the start in the standing mile, but got cooked pretty quickly.
Also, did you notice how edmunds only put cars against eh ZR1 that would lose? they had NO SLR! NO GT! NO NEW GALLARDO! NO SCUDERIA! NO VIPER! NO SL63AMG or SL65AMG. It was totally set up to win!
did u notice that every single car u just mentioned would lose as well....even the precious new lp560 the fastest car u just mentioned is a hair slower then the zr1
Not all of them. The LP640 is faster to 60 3.2 Sec and faster to 100 also. And the Scuderia will give it a good hard run for the money. That car does 0-60 in 3.1 sec and does not break like the GTR. The best I have seen is 3.4 for the ZR1. Road and Track tested it at 3.6 0-60. Car and Driver recorded 3.5 and 4 sec 5-60. So the Ford GT actually hits 60 before the ZR1.
GT 3.3 to 60 and 7 sec to 100 MPH 1/4 mile 11.0 sec @ 159 MPH
I don't know if anyone cares but I though I'd just add my facts.
where u getting 11 sec 159mph 1/4 trap info from? DAMN... I get 9.7 quarter on my GSXR1000 and trap 140MPH. 159 MPH you would be easily in the low 9's to high 8's. No production car even comes close to that!
The reason for the low 0-60 times in spite of having a light rear end is the magnetic ride control. On launch it softens the suspension allowing the weight to shift from the front to the rear thus putting lots of extra grip on the rear wheels. As soon as the car trys to rebound from the weight transfer the suspension stiffens to prevent bouncing from the transfer of weight back to the front.
0-60 is overrated!. What's the 0-100, 140 times ;-) or even better 5-60 (street start) Bettr yet, since u gotta void the warranty in the GTR to get that 3.3 it's unrealistic. Without the computer doin all the work u should be doin anyways...ur lookin @ 4sec pimpN' ;-)
This is the only Corvette I love, I drove a Z06 here in England a few months ago and hated it, the ride and steering tramlines were atrocious. However if they made one of these in right hand drive for the UK i would put a deposit down tomorrow. Well done America/General Motors/Chevrolet! I still don't like active exhausts but I think this guy has summed the car up very well. A fantastic car!
I don't know why he would say it's not exclusive, it's the most powerful Vette ever produced, it has enough body and form changes to easily pick it out of a crowd, and they're going to limit production to 2000 units or so. Not to mention that the next gen vette will be re designed and mid engine. This car is the last hurrah for the front engine rear wheel drive vettes. The first production car was sold at auction for over a million dollars. How could it not be exclusive?
Very true, both the ford gt, and the zr1 sell at 150+. Yes the ford gt is slower, but its still a better built car. Much better interior, and quality materials, not to mention, the zr1 still looks like a corvette, which you see everyday. The ford gt is exotic, and you just dont see them on the road. Both cars are nice, I prefer the gt though, as the rareness factor, and fit to finish. If one wants a faster ford gt, then the gtx1 has 700+hp...
What's there to lose to? I mean really.... Not to mention if there is something faster how likely is it that you'll find it in the street? Not many people driver Supercars on everyday roads

MrSupersaiyangoku 2 years ago 13
This was a fair review of the car. Although this Corvette is an absolut wonder, the interior was clearly at the bottom of the priorities list for GM. No big deal but would be nice to have a re-designed Interior.
wickzor 2 years ago 5
Hes right about the exteriour not being much to look at either. Would be good to look a bit more exciting or alteast modern. What makes this car perform is the oversized engine. Viper and Corvette has the largest engines in any performance cars while european sportscars go for more refined and light weight engines with alot more technology. Also americans use plastic, steel and "aluminum" where full price sportscars use carbonfibres, kevlar and light metals.
Janusha 2 years ago
1aceves 2 years ago 3
Speed isnt an achievement. Race cars have been going the same speeds since the 1950s. Just put numberplates on them and hey.. a sportscar. The only thing new is the styling, quality and handling. An 80 year old jewelcrafter makes the pure gold top of the gear knob for each Koenigsegg car by hand. If you buy a Pagani Zonda you get tailored driving shoes from the man that supplies the Pope in Rome. The Corvette spends 8 minutes on a conveyor belt being welded by robots. You get what you pay for.
Janusha 2 years ago
Who really gives a half a shit about a gold shift knob or getting exclusive shoes? Does that make it a better car? Oh, and you should never mantion price in a vidoe about a ZR1, because it has that covered. Its preformance can compete with those of the best, for a fraction of the cost.
WalkerGuitarist492 2 years ago
Im explaining why luxury cars are expensive. And as Ive said numerous times.. 40% of european supercars are sold in USA. so clearly when americans get money they buy European. Because at that quality, exclusivity and heritage bracket, there is no american competition at all. I think that is weird that you got 1 supercar in the worlds most car loving country... and no exclusive luxury cars at all. And dont even mention the Hennesey or Saleen. Saleen is out of business and Hennessey is a tune shop
Janusha 2 years ago
No luxury cars? So i guess Caddilac and Lincoln don't exist. Besides, barely anyone here is buying luxury, foriegn or domestic. The markets on small and fuel efficient. And the ZR1 isn't the only American supercar. You forgot the Ford GT and the Dodge Viper, for instance. And why not mention Saleen? S7 Twin Turbos are still for sale, and raping competition everywhere.
WalkerGuitarist492 2 years ago
They hardly rape competition.. Saleen is out of business and Ford cut its GT short by 500 cars before closing it down a couple of years ago. It really makes me laugh when you compare a Cadillac and a.... lincoln to internationally competetive performance vehicles.

it is obvious that europe doesn't have anything for america in le mans and american le mans either. tell me why? the aston martin team doesn't have shit for the corvettes. ferrari?. ... they break down so damn much. goes to show you what americans can do when it comes to making a car handle endurance.
black84z28 2 years ago
I really don't understand how people consider the build quality and styling of the Corvette subpar. After sitting in porche, mercedes, maserati, lambos, jaguars and BMW's at annual auto shows, I still think that the Vette's interior is great looking and very functional. More so than most of the cars I've been in. I just think that too many people talk about build quality and styling without first hand critiquing.
dreez28 2 years ago
because Americans dont understand the insane effort and quality put into european sportscars.
Janusha 2 years ago
I think normal Americans understand that paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for cars no better than our own is absurd. How many people actually buy exotics for performance? Very few. GM displays the ZR1, bare bones, to the public at auto shows, simply to help consumers understand and see for themselves the remarkable, world-class engineering that goes into such a car. Ferrari, Lambo remain illusive to maintain a reputation of exclusivity and prestige. Not because they're better vehicles.
dreez28 2 years ago
Ill let you in on a little secret.. USA dont make full price performance cars because the US car industry is broke and have been broke for a decade.
Janusha 2 years ago
just like ferrari went down and was bought by fiat? stop sucking dicks and get somes facts. all companies have issues once in awhile. it is not news.

haha went down.. thats just funny.
Janusha 2 years ago
how is the frame cast iron when it it made out of hydro formed aluminum? how is the car a gas guzzler when it is making over 600hp and getting over 20mpg. what other car does that? none. how comes a pushrod motor can smoke a high tech gtr or a ferreri 599? tell me this....the car is under 3450lbs...how is that two tons? are you stupid? my american classic car is old as shit and isn't falling apart....tell me the last time romania made a great car that people hyped about. never? thats right.

@black84z28 well, some of your point a are correct , but the Romania part is irrelevant.

@black84z28 I agree but I'm gonna have to correct you on some numbers.
ZR1 gets 19mpg on the highway. If you want better fuel economy look no further than the Z06 which gets 24mpg and C6 that gets 27mpg.
ZR1 weights less than 3200lbs. Everything on this car is low weight. 3450lbs is the weight of my 4th gen Camaro.
wildbloodydragon 1 year ago
Actually, I'll agree on the interior part. I'll disagree with everything else. Gas guzzlers? You're fucking joking, the ZR1 gets amazing gas millage for the power it's making. You're talking about cars that are 50-60 years old, so shut the fuck up.

How soon we forget... There's been many a European car company that fell on hard times, or simply vanished:
Jaguar, Aston, Rover, MG, LandRover, TVR, did I forget anyone? The only reason Jaguar and Aston are still around is because of Ford. BMW rescued LandRover.
EdMiF 2 years ago
TVR was bought by some russian billinaire kid who run it to the ground Jaguar and Aston have struggled but is now very good. Dont know about Land Rover but I lived in UK when Rover was in crisis.. ugly stuff.. Then the germans bought it and couldnt believe how under qualified their brittish staff were. They soon dumped it again but kept Mini. Apart from Rover, none of these struggled because they were making wrong cars for decades tho. But look up Brittish Leyland. Thats a proper disaster.

seems american performance cars are only a base for home improvement. like the Mustang.. they fit all kinds of stuff to it and the Ford GT.. everyone puts twin turbos into it. And now the corvette. There are tuning shops in USA from coast to coast. They even tune new Lamborghinis straight from the factory. as if fitting "rims" and tuning a Lambo is actually an improvement.
StuRaz 2 years ago
Best super in the world?? Now that statement could be argued to the end of time. It's a matter of opinion I believe. I get get ur analogy of wut ur saying though; but to say an icon that's been around since 1953 doing everything from giving middle class ppl the ability to own a sweet ride, to making any owner in a car twice as much shake in their boots & still doing it almost 60yrs later doesn't make since. If anything Corvette has just as much character than anyone. Flair..as in the
MaxwellReviresco 2 years ago 3
No doubt the americans have finally created a proper car but when they say "world beating performance" and best in the world, Ferrari beater. Well.. first of all.. sure its quicker than SOME ferraris but nothing beats a proper Ferrari ment for racing. Like the Scuderia or the Enzo. For its money, the ZR1 is some of the best you can get because its massproduced and cheap-ish. But why cant americans also make a full price supercar. There are clearly people wanting to pay for the full package.
Janusha 2 years ago
Nothing does beat the out right tear dropping race bread density the a Enzo or the new Scuderia has. Ferrari covered all angles of a race car.. low production numbers, completely hand built cars. They are the rare, & high end $200,000 + sticker priced cars that make Ferrari's, Lambo's etc in such a different type of high end super car category ur referring to. I agree thos cars badas* cars. But on paper u have to agree it puts down better numbers than just about any car out in every way..
MaxwellReviresco 2 years ago
You and this Janusha sound downright threatened by the ZR-1. Hilarious!!
All of this superficial elitist talk about heritage and exclusivity is for pompous, ridiculous asses like yourselves who can't afford anything better than a Maxima to begin with.
flugeldozer 2 years ago
Bro wut are u talkin about..lol. I sound threatened by the ZR1? please explain how or wut u mean by that..? I've been in love with Vettes since I could speak..and all I could do is point at them and try to get the parents attention. So I see nany reason in my comments why "i'd be threatened by my favorite car.
MaxwellReviresco 2 years ago
cornering grip, slalom times, breaking, exceleration, lap times the list goes on.
MaxwellReviresco 2 years ago
The Americans can..& they have..in their definition of a super car. Why can't they do wut Ferrari, & Lambo etc have done..? They can..they just haven't...yet. Same reason why if I asked..why can't Ferrari or whom ever build a super car without having to sell ur house to buy one? ;-) They can..they just don't care to....yet...?
MaxwellReviresco 2 years ago
well 40% of all Ferraris and Lambos are sold in USA so clearly there are lots of americans out there with the money to spend on exclusivity, heritage and quality. Im sure many of them would buy american if they could. But they cant because Lambo and Ferrari (and alot of other brands) have no competitors coming out of USA in that price and quality range.
Janusha 2 years ago
Half that 40% of people that live in America "The melting pot" probably moved here from another country lol. I agree though, I wouldn't mind seeing an American high-end super car. The thing is though, I don't think the world is ready for that. The American car stereotype would hinder sales too much. I couldn't see ppl taking it serious. Corvette is already on the way to creating a high-end super car & I think they're being smart about it slowly gaining buyers trust. We'll see..
MaxwellReviresco 2 years ago
most of americans come from other countries.. whose language do you speak again? :) Seriously there are some that try to make full price supercars in USA. the SSC aero, Saleen S7, Mosler. probably others like Vector. They try but they are so weird, single purpose and often awkward machines to own and use. they will never reach any great numbers or have any wide public appeal. I think the Shelby Cobra Concept would be good start. Its weird such a big car-country and only 1 proper sportscar left.
Janusha 2 years ago
I dunno- why don't the Japanese make a "proper" supercar, why don't the Swedish, why don't, why don't, why don't.....
because race-prepped Ferrari's etc are basically botique cars, and only a handful of people can afford them. Ferrari doesn't make everyday automobiles that people depend upon- nor do they make trucks or commercial vehicles.
Why doesn't Ferrari make a dependable, fuel-efficient sedan to compete internationally? Because they can't.
flugeldozer 2 years ago
The Japanese DO make a proper supercar. The Nissan GTR. and several others. Even Sweden does. The Koenigsegg CCX is among the absolute top in the world. These countries also compete internationally with dependable efficent saloons and a full range of cars. The notion that supercars arent dependable is what people used to say in the 80s - 90s They are now dependable as any high quality product. I dont see what your arguement is here. Im just questioning why USA fail at making interesting cars.
Janusha 2 years ago
Well, let's see- are the top selling vehicles in the world all considered "interesting"?
And by the way- Not sure how the GTR is a "full-price" supercar on par with Ferraris just because it's not a domestic American product.
It's clear that Japan makes a full range of dependable cars- almost not even worth mentioning. As for the rest of Europe- particularly the countries form which the McLaren and Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini come from-- not so sure.
flugeldozer 2 years ago
hi, I think the U.S. does make interesting cars... some people just have to open their minds to the idea of a super car built somewhere besides Italy or Germany, and I'd hardly call the GTR a super car.
rayamanelly 2 years ago
40% of ferraris or lambos and such cars are sold in USA so clearly there is a huge market and people with money. Im sure alot of them would buy american if they could. But at the moment there is nothing made in USA at that quality, heritage, exclusitivity or price rance. Why American cant establish their own brand of supercars is a mystery to me. The ZR1 is the only option from USA and its way behind in build quality, styling and quality even tho the engine seems good. But GM is going bust so...
Janusha 2 years ago
I see your point! However, it is my understanding that a car is the worst possible investment! Unless you bought a Bugatti and plan on hold it for some years. I don't know how many exotics you've owned, But I speak for the common man... I make 350 a week after taxes and I see throwing away 200k plus just speaks arrogance and vanity. I believe the first lambo was built because someone wanted to go faster and faster. So I'd go the warren buffet route and keep the Buick and get a ZR1 instead.
rayamanelly 2 years ago

As far as American Build quality! interiors can use some work but they have been trying to address that with the latest models.. I have a Chevy Suburban 2500 mind 90"s with over 180,000Miles on it... Never had major problems.
rayamanelly 2 years ago
Ive owned Ferrari 355 and Lambo Diablo but that was back in the day. The computer business isnt like that anymore. I see your point of course. You cant save up and buy a car like that. you need money to run it aswell. crashing a 355 cost me the same as buying a new Toyota Celica. It just gets annoying when this ZR1 is hailed as the best on the planet when it clearly isnt. Its also sad that USA which to me looks like the worlds largest car loving country, only offers 1 proper performance car.
Janusha 2 years ago
Ford GT. Because the euro market is run by its engineers. American market has a balance between consumer and manufacturer. You ask the wrong question. Question is can the euros make an exciting performance car for less than 70K like the Japanese an U.S. Their cars are way over priced. There's no way you can compare cars without comparing price and if you can't get it right with 250K something's wrong.
drieey 2 years ago 2

StuRaz 2 years ago

112namrepus 3 years ago
did u notice that every single car u just mentioned would lose as well....even the precious new lp560 the fastest car u just mentioned is a hair slower then the zr1
ds450fullyModded 3 years ago
I don't know if anyone cares but I though I'd just add my facts.
lukekobilan 3 years ago
"11.0 sec @ 159 MPH"
See how stupid you are? A car that traps 159mph is most likely a 8 sec car. The Ford GT is not a 8 second car you fool.
averyr18 2 years ago
where u getting 11 sec 159mph 1/4 trap info from? DAMN... I get 9.7 quarter on my GSXR1000 and trap 140MPH. 159 MPH you would be easily in the low 9's to high 8's. No production car even comes close to that!
JOHNNYGIX 2 years ago
The reason for the low 0-60 times in spite of having a light rear end is the magnetic ride control. On launch it softens the suspension allowing the weight to shift from the front to the rear thus putting lots of extra grip on the rear wheels. As soon as the car trys to rebound from the weight transfer the suspension stiffens to prevent bouncing from the transfer of weight back to the front.

The R8 does not have the power to run with the big American Power V8s. But a GT with the same power would beat it.
112namrepus 3 years ago
With the same power, The ZR1 has 100 more.

jtlovett27 3 years ago

ilikepi68 3 years ago 9

I don't know why he would say it's not exclusive, it's the most powerful Vette ever produced, it has enough body and form changes to easily pick it out of a crowd, and they're going to limit production to 2000 units or so. Not to mention that the next gen vette will be re designed and mid engine. This car is the last hurrah for the front engine rear wheel drive vettes. The first production car was sold at auction for over a million dollars. How could it not be exclusive?

WTF?!?! A Mid-Engine Corvette?
myconpics 3 years ago
its not a mid engine
Phoenixfire360 3 years ago
this is technically considered front engine mid-ship meaning engine sits between the two axels
ph00ny1 3 years ago 4
Yeah it is. Like the SLR the engine sits way back so it balances. You are correct!
112namrepus 3 years ago
well the engine of the vette is in the front but the transmission is back above the rear axle. helps with weight distribution quite a bit.

I love everything about this car... simply an amazing car. Every corvette lover's dream car...

Instead of a ZR1 Corvette...for the same money, I'd rather get a Ford GT
lawrencelugar 3 years ago
LOL, the Ford GT is lightyears slower on the track than the ZR1
Airox180 3 years ago 2
a slower, ugly, ford? wow.
343FirNaTine 3 years ago
That's just like putting twin turbos on a Toyota Supra...that's faster than a C6
Would you still rather take the faster Supra, or the slower C6?
lawrencelugar 3 years ago
C6 is much better looking than supra....
nico74321 3 years ago 2
the ¨slower¨ C6 without a doubt

its not for the same money corvette sbout 100000 dollars, ford gt about 155000 dollars... and the gt is slower....
Seater23 3 years ago
You're talking about MSRP...but the real world prices are both the same, roughly at 150K
ZR1's are selling at a significant premium over sticker.
lawrencelugar 3 years ago
Very true, both the ford gt, and the zr1 sell at 150+. Yes the ford gt is slower, but its still a better built car. Much better interior, and quality materials, not to mention, the zr1 still looks like a corvette, which you see everyday. The ford gt is exotic, and you just dont see them on the road. Both cars are nice, I prefer the gt though, as the rareness factor, and fit to finish. If one wants a faster ford gt, then the gtx1 has 700+hp...
mycrownvic02 3 years ago
they dont make the gtx1 anymore.
chelseamanuliver 3 years ago
None of them are made any more. BUT they are all on the street, in garages and on race tracks. They WILL COMPETE!
lukekobilan 3 years ago
of course they will, the ford GT is an icon

6psychosis6 3 years ago
Id still take a z06 over this. people will always bitch about the supercharger when they lose.
davidjamesmykyte123 3 years ago
What's there to lose to? I mean really.... Not to mention if there is something faster how likely is it that you'll find it in the street? Not many people driver Supercars on everyday roads
