@vaitaaboy if I can remember well, I begged her to say some phrases in rapanui language to make this footage; when I realized she was hesitant about the theme I told her: "say something about this place, your environment, about yourself, your house..." Hernán Conejeros - regards from Brazil
@ConejerosEmBrasil ... the translation given is from the mauke (cook islands) & tahiti languages & very similar. i live in nz but understand rapanui ... cheers..
@vaitaaboy many thanks for translating.. really impress me how all the girl's words are in the context of the situation in that moment when i was visiting the island in february 2008... prior to these moments she had told us (Hilda Konell and me) that she was 13 or 14 and wanted to go away from the island because was envisioning marrying a foreigner, preferably a French one...
clearly her native language is spanish, not rapa nui, and that's ok, don't forget she is chilean!

rapa nui is a language that has maori origins but overtime mixed with spanish to the language we're hearing today

her rapa nui is really bad! but of course it is very similar to maori.. as they both polynesian languages from the same brunch..
she says to'oku ingoa.. in maori is tooku/taku ingoa.. as well
to'oku henua.. same as toku whenua..
te rangi..same
