Well, nice video. However, I would say that the term "Islamophobia" IS an oxymoron because since a phobia is an irrational fear, that term implies that it is irrational to fear Islam. Islam is Arabic for submission, which is synonymous with slavery. It is rational to fear Islam because it is rational to fear slavery. Notice how I am talking about Islam, the religion/ideology (itself)? Not Muslims, the adherents to the faith? The word is Islamophobia, not Muslimophobia.
You are really hot. But anyway...i feel pretty much the same way you do in that I don't hate "all of anybody". There are aspects of some cultures (probably all cultures) that I find dangerous, ridiculous, or both. I am also not a fan of religion. Having said that, I do not hate religious people de facto.
@FractalHelix777 I just don't want to be lumped in with the racist faction that comes out of the woodwork whenever Islam is mentioned. Oh, and thanks....blush...
Thankyou, i am nursing a sore head and wondering what the fallout will be from a very drunken rant on blogtv last night. I needed cheering up and you have just made that happen.
I agree with every thing you said here. The "kill'em all" attitude that I see is some is a product of fear, ignorance, and dogmatic thinking. But I also think the term 'Islamaphobe' is being grossly over used to the point of making it meaningless in the end.
Islam, not only the many extremists on the leading edge, but Islam as it is currently expressed is a very real threat to democracy. Just as the Christian Dominionists are conscious enemies of all democratic ideals, as well.
@macnutz However, we can not defeat this threat by becoming extremists and haters. We just become the thing we oppose. The owner of the store I oft go to is a Muslim and so are his very nice kids. Can I hate them, want to damage them, or run them away because of their religious group? Of course not. That is insane.
But the rather large group in Europe that insists that "Europe is a cancer and Islam is the answer" are very dangerous and to pretend otherwise is foolish and suicidal.
This is exactly why I have been trying to watch my tone. Even when I have made many videos against racism, I actually seem to attract racists that seem to think I agree with them. Care has to be taken in what we do so we don't attract this shit.
Indeed. I've used the term islamophobe in discussions on a couple of my vids and caught some noise for it. It's a completely valid term, the same way homophobe and xenophobe are. Fearing anyone and everyone who belongs to a large group of people simply for that reason is completely irrational. I criticize islam with the same spirit in which I criticize all other religions. But I don't hate muslims or christians or mormons. I disagree with them and the religion. But they're just people.
@TipoftheSlung I'm all out of ideas in fact I've mostly stopped making videos because I noticed one day that 90% of my vids are shite. I start off with a perfectly good idea but the end result is usually crap. I guess the camera makes me nervous since I lose my ability to speak fucking English in front of it.
If you have any ideas for a collaboration I'd be pleased to hear them. Maybe that would wake me from this hibernation.
All you can do is take care in who you aim your comments at. You are not responsible for people who think you are in their "club". Try not to let them make you crazy. I hate radical islam and sharia law AND I call upon all other muslims to stand/march/fight against them. If someone thinks that makes me anti-muslim I wont spend a ton of energy arguing with them.
I have met some wonderful Moslem people! Some of them are quite lukewarm towards their religion, but don't dare say it. Some young people don't believe at all. I know that for sure. But they fall under the title Moslems, because of their families.
Brilliant video! I especially like the quick editing and your snappy style.
I encountered the same type of implied racism on my video explaining why I participated in the event. I also found that people assume that if you took part in Draw Muhammad Day then you only did so because of blind devotion to Lord Thunderf00t. Some people just didn't understand the point that you explained so well.
This video is unadulterated, grade AAA, GI certified, 100% pure fuckin' WIN!
It's a great point that I've *yet* to make as clear as you just did w/this vid (even though I've tried until blue in the face).
Most people of faith, *any* faith, are too busy trying to navigate through day to day to:
1) Put a lot of reasoned thought into their religion
2) Conceive, plan & carry out acts hatred .
Most ppl just wanna feed the babies, get some ass, keep a roof over their heads... that sort of thing.
