  • I love this song! Were playing it now and alot of key changes!!!! But soo fun!

  • @MusicalZoologist We are the people in your band. ooOOoo...

  • in 7th grade we played this i was in the high band the symphonic band. the only thing hard about this song is the tuba solo.

  • very nice! I'm glad you were blessed with a band that had been playing for several years beforehand

oh god.... tuba solo... YOU REALLY ARE A TWIT!!!

  • by solo i meant THE OTHER TUBAS COULD NOT PLAY so go screw ur self

  • LOL that woodblock part sounds aweful, its so freaking deep

  • THIS IS an excellent piece of music. i havent heard it in over 4 years. My band played it when i was in high school. I never knew the woodblock part was so annoying though. They should have had his part as being played piano. lol

  • great job!

  • I loved this version of Havendance. But I just hated how low the woodblock was, and the guy playing the woodblock and triangle was just off, no sense of timing, it even sounds like his part was ammended.

Aside from that the trombones were strong and the woodwinds were also quite adept.

  • Tad messy for the speed, but overall good performance. I am in American Music Abroad, we toured through Europe, this is one of the pieces we played.

  • our band sightread this yesterday...cool piece!!!

  • I played this in band in 7th grade. its a fun piece. even though it can be pretty repetitive.

  • 7th Grade? Wow, your band must be very advanced! My high school's Senior Band is playing this, and I really like playing it.

  • Yeah, the middle band is playing this at my school, and the time changes make it hard.

  • Why did posting comments become out of control. I thought that youtube was used to educate yourselves of different music NOT an ADJUDICATION!!!! To add to that, this is a recording from a video camera and they never have good sound. Nice performance! If you have time to watch these videos and adjudicate them then maybe you should spend more time with your own groups and if you do not have a degree in music yet and have been educated, then you should realy keep your comments to yourselves.

  • Yeah, man. Right on the money. My original intent was to post these so that the relatives of my students (including my own who live in a different time zone) could watch them if they could not make it to the concert.

    Thanks!

  • Few things. haha. My wind just did this a few days ago, Wood block, omg, Its P not FZF. trombones, way too loud, when its goes to cut time it should be one trombone on the down beat half note, then another on the up beat half note and its shouldnt be the same is should be low D. Trumpets Way too sharp. They were also very sloppy on their eighth notes. This piece overwell was average, it could have been amazing. but it wasnt, sorry

  • 7 tuba players? Wow, your tuba players must play really quietly and be pretty lame if you need that many. My band only has 2 and we play out, so we get as much sound as we need. This band sounded fine to me.

  • Every instrument has its job. Insignificant intruments? You're such a tool.

  • My middle plays this song. I play snare, and im pretty smexy. I actually don't know if im good anymore cuz we haven't practiced it in like 2 months. Mostly because we nailed the song perfectly to the point we needed no more rehearsels for the song.

  • our high school plays this song.

    8th - 12th and im the lead snare (8th)

i like how the woodblock parts i play are random but fit, and the whole percussion is great in this piece

  • Great energy for the most part , but if it would be lighter it would not bog down and feel so heavy. And keeping time is always important but like i said lighten up so u can pay atention to other things articulation, time, balance, etc.

  • We're currently playing this for the second year in a row! The first year, we couldn't quite get it up to my directors standards, so we didn'ttake it to contest. This year we are, though! I love this song. I play piccolo in this one. :]

  • they are really good! this is a hard piece to play! and they did well! kudos! :D

  • IT WUZ ALRIGHT

  • IT WUZ ALRIGHT

  • i remember my jr. high played this when i was in 7thgrade....? or 8th i dont remember but wedid itat this tempo and we were awesome ya'll did awesome on it too i love the cello player in the back nice touch lol

i can hear whre the tempo problemsare and they do stick out a lil bit but this is all band geeks commenting........i think. so maybe a common ear wouldnt have noticed but anyhow you guys did awesome! its good you didnt put too much sting on the last note! it was amazing ya'll did awesome

  • our middle school band in texas is playing this. im a trumpet and it is REALLY hard! you guys did really well. we're not nearly up to tempo as this! my band director has lost sleep over this song......

  • I'm amazed! This is a high school song! Also a tempo like 160 is really for a middle school! good luck though!

  • Really? This would be unbeleivably hard for a middle school band, most good high school bands get 2's on this, my high school band is taking this to state and we're struggling a bit, which is to say something since we've never gotten a 2 so we're considerbly good.

  • just to let you guys, we had uil today and we got sweepstakes! we played this song as our main piece and my band director was smiling like a baby with candy during the piece, usually he's frowning or ripping his hair out....

  • That was nice! but as with most HS bands, (including mine!) theres tempo consistency issues, tone issues, and lightness issues. It is allowed to play quietly in contrast to what seems to be everyones conception... if it was Lighter, more deliberate and with greater dynamic range, it would be as good as any could play it! oh, and dont forget tempo. lol.

  • There was a bit of tempo problems witin the clarinet section. Watch your tuning. Other than that, it was very good.

  • ooh boy! my band plays this song! we love it!

  • percussion has dynamic and timing issues. and you can tell that they don't understand the composers intentions.

but what the hell, it's a fun song anyways. rock on cowbell player.

  • Yes, at 0:51 lol, that drummer isn't even looking! Dude, you don't need music to hit it on the down of 1.

  • Haha fun song. Seems like the trumpets have a bit of trouble with range though with the higher notes and some tone issues. Otherwise, it's sounding really good. This is a great song. It seems like the clarinets also rush a little bit sometimes.

  • ourr 8th grade band is playing this

    sort of

still waiting for word if were gonna use it as a competition piece

    allegro and intermezzo

and concert variations are our other choices

our other piece was wriiten by our band director

the wood block soloist wasnt in time

  • my high school band played this way better. every video ive seen on youtube of this song, the percussion section sucks. play the woodblock/triangle on upbeats, and stay in time...

  • i agree

  • its an alright performance, but i think my band played it better

not trying to brag or anything

  • a great performance of a great song :]

  • this is a really nice preformance of this song

its alot better than others that i've heard

but i have to say this...

our middle school honor band last year played it better...

    (i dont have a recording)

  • hey not too bad...ive played this song before...and i dont think its too fast..this is about the tempo we played it at..its supposed to be fast...

  • wow... we're playing this piece for our concert this year... i only hope we can get it as good as you guys played it!

  • is very beutiful

  • Took it quite a bit too fast imo. The acoustics in the room arent that great either, obviously. Good otherwise. :D

  • The cornet part was early every time 1:45 and on. When I played this, I thought the cornet part was more interesting than the trumpet part. Nice job though.

  • There are a few timing errors and it's just a little too fast, but otherwise, it's played excellently.

  • Sorry sou mais a banda do brasil tocando rsrsrsrs

  • ummm...I don't speak Portuguese, so could you translate?

  • Whoah, it's US.

    Hey E. =D

I remember this now! Fun piece.

  • WAYYYYY too fast.

  • nice job, but our band still plays it better :)

and DAMN that kid on bass drum is whooping the shit outta it.

  • Great Job E! Although, it's not as good as when we played it! ;o)

  • Nice Job E. Although, it's definitely not as good as Hannah and Me on horn ;o)
