  • Great Job Sam!

  • Great tone, meticulous playing. That's fine if you want an exact cover, butt I wouldn't call somebody "wrong" for adding their own flair and putting some heart into a blues song. That's how blues exists.Of all the versions I've heard, I like Muddy Waters' version in G the best.

  • absolutely superb, a masterclass,well done.

  • Awesome cover!

  • I saw twangy's lesson, I knew it would be perfect as usuall. Your such a twang master!!!

  • These videos are awesome. Thanks for posting them. Spot on covers without all of the usual YouTube BS. You are one hell of a player too. Nice job.

  • a ghostly pair of arms with no body

  • Someone was so excited they missed the like button

  • Of course, one bozo didn't like this....unbelievable.

  • Okay, okay, there's all kinds of good comments on here already, but take this from a guy who has played his guts out hour after hour trying to figure things out, with no one to point the way or to show me a lick or two, so I need to say thanks. When you live in a small town, knowledge was had to come by before the internet and the good people like you who are kind enough to share. Boy do I get a kick out of this! So that's how you do it! The learning curve has shot skyward, finally!

  • That was incredible man, you are good.

  • just out of curiosity, what do you think of AC/DC's hotrodded version of this?

  • @98jsbx98 Its awesome!

  • very great sound, you're good

  • nice work!!!!!!

  • Holy Moly...not sure how I missed this one last month!!!!!!! Outstanding!!!!!! Well, I guess I have figured out what I am doing this weekend now...learning this. I will have to find some way to dodge the "honey-do" list first. Outstanding job Sam!

  • very smooth!!!

  • yeh very nice

  • I wish i could play like you man, just brill, how long have you been playing,do you have any tabs for your songs

  • Hey dude, sounds great. I like the way you slide the notes up a 0:50. Perfect sound.

  • very cool, thx: )

  • Sam, when you move back to the Bay Area Id be the first to sign up for lessons!

  • Just curious if you ever have the 'itch' to play in front of a crowd? And being compensated of course. It's kinda' like recreational flying, most of it is done alone, but a pilot always enjoys taking a passenger up.

  • I am 62, a retired cop after being injured and when I watch you play, I am now running for publice office and might actually win. I have the utmost respect for your talent. I know it had to take years and years of practice. I would equate that with the skill of a surgen. Everything is so pure. How did you get there. I play and get frustated when I watch someone like you play. If you don't mind, what are the secrets, besides hard work. You are one of the great ones. Take care, Buzz

  • Sam, thanks ever so much. My dad who is now 66 heard it and had a bit of a breakdown, as I did because this was one of the songs at my Bar Mitzvah back in the day.

  • Thanks again, Sam!

  • MTG ................ isn't it about time to bite the bullet and let us hear you sing a few bars of a favorite song to go along with the playing... ? don't be shy ... if I missed it point me in the right direction. Thanks for all your videos. mike

  • What a wonderful talent. At times it's depressing because at my age to achieve what you have would be a stretch. None-the-less I never miss one of your performances.

  • The only bad thing about this vid, is that yo umake it look so easy, but is not :(.

  • Great work Sam.

Anyway, would you do a tutorial for 1989 version of Great Balls of Fire. I can't figure out the solo on my own. (/watch?v=pAdS2txihCk)

I enjoyed watching, got inspired, and picked up my tele ( again...)

  • What gauge of strings do you use on the tele? And any particular brand?

  • Fantastic!!! Great job! I've been wanting to learn this song for a while now. So, thanks for taking the guess work out of the equation. I always enjoy looking at and listening to your orange Tele.

  • Bad ass brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you keep me going ,, from the bottom of my heart I thank you.

  • Sam, this video soo freakin' good!! Hell yeah! The quality and ofc playing... Do you have a new camera? Just keep up this amazing work. Cheers.

  • Thanks,but don't need your lessons.

    Ciao Joop.

  • Another amazing performance! Sam you indeed continue to nail these songs down and show us how to do it. Thanks again for all the time you invest in the production of these great videos.

  • That was BADASS.

  • What truly amazes me is that you can remember how to play so many different songs note for note...

  • @try2bcool There comes a stage when a direct connection between your head and hands occurs. Your hands just know what to do. It generally takes a squillion hours of practise or so I've been led to believe ;-) Figuring the song out without the help of tabs helps a lot as well.

  • This is an excellent post Sam. I`m going to learn this if it kills me. Thanks for taking the time.....

  • this song is awesome. dude dont take down your first video!! its so raw and real you have to leave it up!

  • Great playing, and a badass song!

  • great job, thanks for taking the time to help some wannabe like myself

learn some of these songs and licks. can't wait for some marty stuart

    and other country music.

  • Excellent!

  • I did not know Jimmy Page did the lead on the song them guys did in the 60's. Great guitar work Eric, and thanks for that close-up lesson!!! Jeon Leon

  • Wow, this is sweet Sam!!! I've always loved this song, now i can try to do it...try being the key word. Nice video to wake up to this Sunday mourning.

  • Thanks Twangy,

I will try my best to learn this song or at least some licks from your video.

The close up of your guitar neck is gorgeous! It looks like birds-eye maple. It must play really smooth, judging by the way you move over the fretboard.

    Great instructional video.

  • Sam that was very very good. Thanks for all the time you spend to bring us such great video's of a great player.

    Joe

  • Awesome playing mate....
