  • That mic is a bit too short.

  • Speed is a wonderful thing.

  • RIP Chas Chandler. You ledgend

  • Why are the Beatles in the beginning? I mean, it's hilarious, but...wut?

  • 2 dislikes? Let's see..

That would be Justin Bieber & his 2nd account. ROCK & LOL! ;)

  • Beatles? wtf

  • I like how it clearly says "1964" in the beginning of the video in the top-left corner, yet the Youtube title states it's from 1963 :D

Amazing version though - I didn't expect Eric to be able to deliver the vocals as flawlessly live as well as in the studio.

Does anybody know if it's singback though, or is the entire band live? I can see they're mic'ed up and plugged in, but it seems quite unbelievable that they're all live!

  • @mausmausmaus1 there was a time, a much greater time, when the only way you EVER got to be a recording artist was IF you could bring it live. Its not singback, and there was no such thing as digital, LOL.

  • How someone that young can have THAT voice? It boggles my mind!!

  • GODLIKE MAN GOLDIKE!! your writing your self into the legend themselfs!!! I WRITE YOU TO LEGENDS!! LEGENDARY VOICE AND A LEGENDARY STYLE!!

    multiipleee orgaaassmmssss

    t22

  • his voice alone can cause you to go on an acid trip

  • these girls never die, they come and go, and new ones come again. These screaming bitches will always be there.

  • I'm an Animal...And i live in the house of the rising sun...

  • why are the Beatles introducing themselves?

  • the animals r the most under rated band in the history of rock n roll

  • @namey420 yes! they gets no love

  • my best song of 60s

  • that was AWESOME ! what a voice ! awesome video !

  • I love this song... his voice, the music...

  • 2:39-2:44, sweet jesus

  • burdon is a great frontman, there do blues really well.

  • this is the shizzle ma nizzle!!!

  • Classic. If they didn't have those girls screaming in the back ground. This aunt the Beatles this is reefer music. Lol

  • I agree ,the organ solo could blister the paint off a 57' Chevy!

  • Unfortunately, most folks don't take into consideration that the reason a song is so good is because of everyone involved in it. This is an awesome song that was supported, created, played, and sung by the best.

  • @cu1221201 this is actually an very old folk american song, it was written in the late 1800's , the writer is unknown but you can take a look in youtube you'll find one of the first recording of the song sung by a girl called georgia turner from 1937 and it's accapela, but i agree with you, it's a masterpiece

  • they sound like the beatles and doors combined.

  • God damn. Hearing his voice you'd never guess that Eric Burdons only 5'5.

  • All the bands back in the day sounded so good live, compared to nowadays where they sound like shit.

  • @KRUNKDIDDLEZ Not all of the bands nowadays sound like shit live.

  • great

  • FUCK HIS GOOD..

  • can you say sexy? lol. oh yeah. love Eric Burdon.

  • im totaly gay for this band

  • love this!!!its live and real...awesome

  • "And God; I know, I Won."

  • @osunason It's been the ruin of many a poor boy, and God, I know I'm one.

  • 0:36 epic

  • even though hes not good looking theres somethign weirdly attractive about him, i love this song.

  • @LanzoEmilia I thought he was very good looking. Of course, it's not the standard "good looking," but I thought the Eric Burdon of the 1960s was insanely good looking.

  • What a great version. Burdon is at his most soulful and Price's organ solo is classic.

  • stupid crowd i js want to hear the animals play

  • I wish he still sounded like this now.

  • Thank you for this upload, this was one of the tracks my father used to play in my childhood.

  • killer version

  • why the beatles intro?

    hahaha hilarious

  • Thumbs up if you still listen to this in 1993.

  • @Forgot112 its 2011 so whats the point of saying 1993...

  • @Forgot112 Unfunny and shit comment. 0 Thumbs up.

  • Alan Price got plenty of credit, by being listed as the arranger, therefore gettig all of the songwriting money.

  • I love how effortless yet epic this performance is.

  • respect tot at bass player, he put hendrix on the map

  • if u disliked this ill see you in hell to torture you!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Gosh, this is just an amazing performance <3

  • wish those girls screaming would shut the fuck up, I'm trying to hear the song

  • The organist is Alan Price.

  • EPIC!

  • does a voice get any better than this??

  • @slipknotskate1 yes : freddie mercury! so poor he died so young :(

  • Fuck... this is sooo beautiful...

  • as much as i love Eric Burdon and the Animals i got to say,

he reminds me of how Benny Hill used to stand and sing his songs on his show @ 0:59 with his arms down and heaps of facial expressions looking straight at the camera.

  • た音がたまり

  • He does have an amazing voice. So many have tried to cover this but it will never have the impact as it does when he sings it.

  • Dont you just love them black and white days when people could actualy sing like this........................Awsome sound from a band that have always been legends.

remember when it came out and still sounds the same fantastic after all these years.

  • gosh, how tall is their bassist? he makes burdon look tiny

  • @memgrizz1132225033 Chas Chandler was 6'4"(he died)...Eric is 5'5".

  • @LGLG69 thanks

  • Now why couldn't he have that energy in some of his other performances, like on tv?

Can someone please explain that to me?

  • man whata a voice

  • The H0:00use 0:00f The Rising Sun ♥

  • goose bumps

  • He's goin to town on that organ.

  • he was only 23 at the time..

  • 60's ! when mainstream music was awesome :(

  • You know I have a wierd taste in music. Most of the time I listen to more modern stuff. Like really heavy metal and punk and stuff like that. But The Animals are one of my favorite bands :D

  • Wish i was around then

my mum weren't even here :L

  • What was with the Beatles intro?!?!?!?! It was hilarious! From the BBC CD, right?

  • Unbelievable!!! 5/5..... I mean thumbs up.....

  • i love this band so much every single song is amazing

  • What an vocal man, WOW

  • 1964

  • why the beatles intro? lol

  • The vocals remind me of Danzig

  • the background is not quite cope with the song tho' away from that everything is far from perfect. epic music like this really cannot be found these days. i love how the crowd cheers all the way through! americans really have a way of fanaticism :))

  • Probably the best vocal I've ever heard.

  • Live 1963??? Watch the vid : 1964

  • I need to get more into The Animals. I'm a big Doors fan and they sound similar to each other. What's up with The Beatles intro though?

  • he has done many different versions of this song live but this is still the best one

  • Why does nobody give the organ player any credit? HE'S FUCKING AMAZING.

  • @il927 You think he's good I just went to see Eric and todays verison of the animals his new organ/panio player is Red Young all I can say is WOW. Can play the organ and panio at the same time wicket best time I had in a long time

  • @il927 Take the organ out and it's an ok song that would drag way too long. With it, it reaches to the stars ...

  • @il927 They are all amazing, act like one

  • @il927 Because the credit is being stolen by the guy with the COWBELL (not shown in this video)

  • @il927 well I always have, and I think many musicians do, not so much the general listing crowd I would agree to that, most people never realize any talent other than the singer, mainly because they don't play and instrument and just don't think of it I suppose. And to give such a haunting vamping sound with such a low tech key board, few could pull of such powerful solos with such a limited instrument as it was in those days, he pushed its limits wonderfully.

  • it makes me feeling pure

  • two people do not want the sun in New Orleans . . .

  • born in the wrong era...

  • My God, this is like time-machine... I've heard this song a thousands times, but never saw this clip. This is a song that transcends through time...

A familiar fate of a man with a void. And how this pain reincarnates through his children. Amazing performance...

  • 2:35 on is epicness. Makes me shiver.

  • Can,t wait going to see them march 10th hope Burdon still sounds good

  • i cant beleive i wasnt born in this era of music, i wish i was born from the late 50s or early 60sto see all the great acts that i will never EVER get to see. Id rather listen to good music like this instead of the shite that people make today : \

  • A great live version. But this from their appearance on Shindig! in 1964.

  • Excellent! Eric B can sing like nobody's business.

  • I wish I could hear the Gretsch better!!!

  • sounds great for live.

  • Dr.Spoke

  • Best live recording of this song I've heard so far. It almost appear as if Burdon may have lived his life like this song as time went on in later live gigs, he seems to change and add words and throw in more and more antics, instead of just sing the song. It would obviously been hard to keep singing that song the way he did when it was originaly recorded. Ok, having all that said, its still one of the best recorded rock'n'roll songs of all time.

  • I love how Eric always looked like he'd just gotten out of bed

  • whats the name of the keyboard player?

  • @ImaGipC Alan Price! - ya hafta ask???

  • @Yehudittx yeah i dont listen to the animals often

  • Gifted singer!!

  • joder

  • this guy had a fucking great voice.top 5 male singer in all music history.RnR i mean.

  • only 9692 views is shocking but for the first time on youtube ive seen a video where some far has clicked the dislike button :D !

  • Truly awesome, except for the beetles shite at the beginning. Never seen this live before. Going to look for the proper length one live, this is the foreign one. Not a criticism but lots of songs were shortened for the attention deficient yanks;)

  • no dislikes... even beiber fans know good music when they see it

  • hahaha What's up with the Beatles intro at the beginning? Live at BBC, correct?

  • holy crap his voice is amazing

  • You can see he needs so much more space to express his feelings...i bet he'd like to move so much more... He has this great energy and only thing he can do is to sing and sing...amazing

  • My favorite part of this video is at the end, when he say's ya and starts clapping his hands and as he walks backward he sorta shakes his shoulders and they kinda twitch a little he looks so cute! Chas was so tall made the rest of the guys look tiny especially Eric standing next to him. I read somewhere that is was six foot eight.

  • @triplemmm54 6'4 according to his stats on the back of The Rising Sun EP.

  • organist is raping the organ. No pun intended.

  • I too was 12 in 1964, and as all this terrific music exploded at once, I assumed it would be that way for the rest of my life - a new Brit or CA band every week, an exciting new song every day. The innovative new sounds did probably last a good five to eight years; an incredible time to have lived through.

  • I was 12 when this song hit. Loved it then; love it now. I seem to appreciate the Animals now more now than I did in the 60s! Very powerful music!

  • powerful stuff, was about 14 when this came out and I was riveted from the get go.

Burdon has an amazing voice, and still does.

Sure Morrison heard all those Brit bands, Animals, Kinks, Yardbirds...no question...how could he avoid it?

    wordofgord

  • great video!!!

  • Now THIS is where Jim Morrison got his style from!!

  • Put 1963 in the title and you'll get a lot more views.

  • @oitotheworld23 woops...1964 I mean...

  • What a voice!

  • I simply love this performance. Although somewhat shortened in cmpr. to the original, it is maybe their best live performance of that song. Burdon is truely amazing here, for power and charisma. Still Breathtaking 45 years later.

  • StartabandDuran for your information, The Beatles were and still are the best band ever, even better than the animals, I like the animals very much, i credit them for their music, but don't say the beatles are wrost, because they're the ebst the world has ever known!

  • Lol the starter speakers were not the animals but The Beatles!

  • The reason why I prefer rock to all the pop stuff that everyone else says (i'm 13) is because people like Muse, the Animals,Acdc, Iron Maiden etc actually CAN SING. At this time the Animals performed this you HAD to be able to sing well.

  • @Annoyingthing321 Pop = popular. There was pop in the 60s too you know. But I get your point

  • @Tha2ndWimp Yeah im just talking about 60's rock.

  • Burdon must be the most awesome person to say "HEY!".

  • Thumbs up if you think there will not be better music than the 60´s.

  • @calleanton1 I love Eric Burdon - Animals but I'm going to disagree there, I think its still the late 70s/early 80s.

  • @calleanton1 Metallica makes good music, they are awesome, just sayin'

  • The start is the beatles speacing wtf? sorry for bad english

  • @mussefele yes

  • @mussefele And what a horrible start it is. I wish I could listen to this Animals clip without being reminded of that overrated, overblown group I once thought was the best. Enough ot the Beatles. More Animals!

  • @StartabandDuran

    cough cocksucker cough cough

  • @OropherThranduil Stop coughing and start swallowing. Bitch.

  • @StartabandDuran

just because you're a cumwhore doesn't mean other men also like to swallow large wuantities of semen.

  • The beauty in Burdon's singing is the emotion he imparts with every word. Simply electrifying. Whenever I heard a song he sang I just have to drop whatever I'm doing and listen.

  • @GuzziHeroV50 I feel the same way, especially at 0:34, when he sings "AND IT'S BEEN... the ruin... of many a poor boy...". Stunning, that's all.
