I have loved Lynch since 1985 but his live solo's have always sucked his recorded stuff is always better don't know what his issue is with improv solo's all the time ,he is great but he just doesn't play his solo's with feeling live , I think he experiments to much.
Why are people raggin' on George for improvising? I know of no rule that says a musician must only play the notes that are on the original recording. In fact if you want to listen to the original, just stay home, don't bother going to the gig.
@tonifreakshow - Listen fuzznuts, pull your head outta' your ass and actually LISTEN to this instead of what you THINK it sounds like just because you see the name LYNCH attached to it. I've heard bands at shitty clubs that sound better than this. Obviously everyone knows how good Lynch is, duh but do you ACTUALLY think this sounds good? Where the hell have all the guitar chops gone? Other bands with great musicians like RUSH or Dream Theatre nail their shit everytime. What's the excuse here??
Yeah I like the original solo, i love it. But dang, he still rips it on this tune. Lynch always improvs his stuff, thats why we love and hate him lol.
Well I Saw Him At Club Bannanas In Anaheim Ca. Don Dokken was There next to me and he put on a great show then He shreads and always will I agree he was not at his best here but hey He carried Our torch for A Great while and as My Japanes friend Told me picked up where they left off with us here in the late 80's and Burrnred It at Both Ends Quite a While Over there for them So To the Band and George Thanks For all the Great Times and Memories .
Why is it that bands can't just play the freakin' song the way it is on the album?? What sucks is if you kept the audio on this and replaced the video with some less than average garage band fakin' it, most people would have no problem buying it. Bands in my town sound better than this. Makes you appreciate bands like RUSH who nail it everytime.
It's to slow for one thing. George the solo to "The Hunter" is one of your best! Changing it would be like changing the solo to "Bark At The Moon". I did not enjoy this at all.
man, i'd like to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, but frankly this just sucks in every way compared to the way he played it back in the 80's. almost wish i hadn't seen this, because it makes me wonder whether the original wasn't just some super-produced stuff that he and Don D could never actually perform without serious studio and production intervention.
All these critics.. Whose on stage rocking away and whose at home playing air guitar or playing aling to this song.. Great song although it could be a little faster. Sounds kinda boring this slow...
Picture Anthony Keidis of the RHCP in about 15 years. This is how he will look, I swear George could pass for his older brother if you put them side by side these days. Who else agrees?
All I can say is I love George, one of my biggest influences, but his shit is way off nowadays. Kinda sucks to be honest. I'm getting old as shit and this just makes me feel older. I will never forget George, your still the man!
Too funny ! His voice is totally shot. Don't get me wrong I love Dokken and Don ( when he could sing ). But man he's got balls to go on stage to do that to himself.
@gtrboy1 Sometimes? How about, " Wow! WTF is he doing there? I wish I could play that!" This is a LIVE show. Sometimes people decide to go in a different direction, in case you didn't know. :D
@BrianMorrison71 Unfortunatly George hardly ever play the same solo twice. Back in the days he would use some part of it, but he was always improvising. That's the George we know. He said in an interview that he get bored playing the same solos over and over again. Even in studio he always improv his solos, then he would have to learn some part of it here and there to play later.... =) Actually, this was a pretty good perfomance.
@Actaruz Yeah, that's not true. Back in the day he stuck with the format for example: "Beast Fom the East" Guitarists always love for everyone to think they played everything on their albums off the cuff and it is total BS. Watch the Under Lock and Key home video. You can see him playing some of the solos from back from the attack over the tracks on the portable studio in their hotel room. Lynch wrote all of his solos and I'll bet there are several takes floating around in the can...
@BrianMorrison71 do you really want to hear the same solos no feeling or improviseing because you can't put feeling or emotion into a solo you play the same night after night.. I love it keep busting out those new bad ass solos Lynch...
Boy I'd say, one of my fave guitarist just butchering his own solo on one of my fave Dokken songs. George go back and listen to the master tapes or buy the original CD. Damn!
Dumb question but on his M1 guitars does he have the Humbucker with a coil tap? I would get one but the 1 pickup scares me.

George...
I love you man...but if you make a solo that badass...you gotta be able to play it - note for note- live.
And dont give me the Jimi argument.

George Lynch, the most awesome guitar player ever, but not very selective when choosing a vocal to play in his band...

After further review I have to say this sucks. I have spent 2 decades enjoying the solos he wrote for these songs. Now he's turding them up.

I agree George just is not hungry any more and kind of just goes through the motions with his playing,
Kind of hard to watch at times as he was unique and that sound he uses now isnt the best either.
