  • I love this movie, its the best i've ever seen!

  • My girlfriend didn't like the ending of this movie. It is the best ending to any movie I've ever seen.

  • @kekkonen2222 haha, yea, and i bet im not the only one who found that by opening my steam account

  • Kootra

  • best movies ever: troy, 300, gladiator, warrior, and the last samurai

  • Good movie, i just can't help to ask what does a white guy have to do with Samurai's. Not being racist, but damn hollywood doesn't have to put a white guy in every single thing.

  • @Hamptoncltn haha they put in a white guy because during japans edo period, japan was in complete isolation, all of their routes were closed and they didnt let anyone in or out (but they still traded a BIT with the dutch). basically, they show how strict and demanding japan was during the edo/meiji period (meiji period is the time when japan started moderizing). they cant just make a random movie showing everyday life in japan, they put in a white guy to show the worldview of japan.

  • @LadyGagasMonsterFan Very clever, I never thought about it that way. O_o

  • excelente pelicula

  • @xaiber16 Me!

  • Not a big fan of Tom Cruise, but Ken Watanabe was amazing in this. I love his accent. I watch this movie just to see him

  • They should make "The Last Cavalier", a movie about the dying French class of aristocratic warriors during the Hundred Years War starring... Chow Yun Fat. There was probably a Chinese guy mulling around Europe at that point.

    Oh wait, THAT'D be ridiculous.

  • I just LOVE THE BEAT AND THE MUSIC. If anyone knows where I can get this then let me know!

  • It doesnt look very good.

  • 400 dollars a month =DD

  • This movie is an american Fiction inspired by a True Story of a French Hero:

    /Wn1Ee4DnoU8

  • Cruise deserved a oscar for his performance in The Last Samurai.

  • @medielijah Well, i think Ken Watanabe deserved one.

  • @Bellybutton1986 Ken is a great actor. Watch 'letters from iwo jima' by Eastwood... this is incredible acting. The oscar should have been his ^^

  • @medielijah My words! ;)

  • WHAT!? the last Samurai was a Caucasian from the US!?!?! hahaha what a JOKE! this movie is just another American white folks fantasy...how pathetic...they really need to stop that self-appropriation of other cultures...

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader Shut the fuck up. It's just a premise and the whole movie doesnt even stress that idea of him being the last. Not once.

  • @martinxy4 it's not about him being the last! it's about a WHITE AMERICAN DUDE being a SAMURAI...you dig!?

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader And I suppose that, with the necessary commitment, an american dude or a blonde caucasian girl could never learn the way of the samurai? Or even dare to honor and respect it?

  • @234313069 That's not the question, we're talking about white Americans bastardizing other cultures and taking it out of its context....which I find it a little bit troubling since there was no American Samurai...if it was a comedy movie or something, it will be more understandable...but this movie is pretty serious and showing Tom Cruise in a picture with a title such as "the Last Samurai" is just too pathetic...it's like showing a movie with Tom Hanks and calling it "the Last Nigger on Earth"

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader They aren't implying Tom Cruise's character is the last samurai. Samurai is in it's plural form, it is implying the whole Samurai clan in the movie are the last Samurai.

  • @LordKamos777 And one of the last Samurai was a white American huh!? yeaaaa right! and why not a Japanese Viking!??

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader How would that be impossible, go make a movie about that and no one will give a shit.

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader Tough I acknowledge how often Hollywood takes out of context and patronizes other cultures, I think this is not the case. I think you are judging everything the same, instead of analyzing each situation individually. The example you chose: "... it's like showing a movie with Tom Hanks and calling it 'the Last Nigger on Earth". It is very different, because Tom Hanks is white, not black, and in that cause he would be impersonating a black person. In this case,

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader Tom Cruise does not pretend to be japanese, simply is inspired by the samurai way of life and their fighting philosophy and it completes him, brings him peace. It's a respectful act, not trying to steal something. We are not bounded by our nationality or race, you know. If you wish to criticize this film, base your argument on the script, cinematography, directing, acting, etc.

And I think the title applies mostly to Ken Watanbe's character.

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader That's not message of the movie, jackass! Did you actually watch it or you are just one of those moronic individuals who uses any excuse to bash Americans?

  • @123MrsO no i will never watch that moronic fake movie! it's just like Kill Bill...since when the last Samurai was American!? you assholes need to stop tripping and stealing other cultures to look "cool", it's not about the message, it's about watching a white Caucasian asshole holding a katana and acting like he's Japanese, that shit got no sens

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader OMFG Is it really possible to be such an ignorant dumbfuck? Watch the freaking movie and then you'll understand why the "caucasian asshole" is doing what he's doing or don't watch it and stop the senseless criticism...your choice.

If only ignorant minds came with closed mouths...

  • @123MrsO come on you freak, you're the only senseless ignorant asshole in here! i just gave my point of view and you got hurt cause your realized that my statement was right, i broke your feelings cause you were deep in your fantasies which are the same of those assholes who produced that stupid movie...STOP TRIPPING FOR A SEC, samurais belong to JAPAN, not to AMERICA, you need to recognize that true fact, a white asshole acting like a Samurai is just TOO RIDICULOUS, just like KILL BILL

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader lmao!!! You are so damn hilarious...stupid and delusional but funny!! Read carefully and re-read as many as you need until your brain processes correctly the following message...You don't have a valid argument because you have NOT seen the movie, how can you criticize something without knowing the facts? Time to stop babbling and go get your facts straight and please P-L-E-A-S-E stop making your ignorance so evident, the only thing that's getting hurt here is your dignity!!

  • @123MrsO the only delusional cunt in here is you and those who produced this crap, can't you understand that it's pretty offending for the Nippons and for those who love the Japanese culture? i bet you can't like 95% of the stupid fat Americunts like you...your country nuked Japan and killed millions of people (Hiroshima, Nagasaki) and know they're showing us that the last Samurai were White from the US?..haha so lame & pathetic...yeah yeah you're right! the last Samurai were AMERICAN hahaha

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader I like the modern day peaceful japanese. but hey, winner talks. that is the world.

past is the past, just let go. as if japanese ppl during that time were that kind of innocent. just watched the japanese own videos recorded during that time, all japanese including women and child were insane nationalists. those crazy ppl's brutality and insanity is out of normal human's imagination. japanese killed american soldiers and cut their dicks and put them back in their mouth.

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader I like the modern day peaceful japanese. past is the past, just let go. as if japanese ppl during that time were that kind of innocent. just watched the japanese own videos recorded during that time, all japanese including women and child were insane nationalists. those crazy ppl's brutality and insanity is out of normal human's imagination. japanese killed american soldiers and cut their dicks and put them back in their mouth.

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader You just don't get it, do you? In the movie, he's not portrayed as the Last Samurai, watch the fucking movie so you can understand the whole thing! You know what? Forget it!! My time is way too precious to be wasted trying to explain to a mentally challenged individual something that his small brain won't ever be able to comprehend. So long and be careful...hatred not only pollutes your soul but it can stress out your heart so much that you could end up having a heart attack.

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader poor you!...you obviously don't have the brain to understand the message of this wonderful movie...it's about peace and understanding betwwen people coming from very different parts of the world and very different civilisations...people that can co-exist and learn something good from each other...hehe,those things are not easy to comprehend for people like you,so radical and narrow-minded...so just disappear and let the rest of us to live in peace and enjoy this video...

  • @xstormheartx1 Poor me!? lol u mad bro!? since when Americans are Samurais!? it's like when they will do a movie called "the last nigger on earth" starring Tom Hanks...that shit got no-sens...you poor people need to stop fantasizing about other cultures...Japan is Samurais, US is Cheeseburgers...there's a whole diffrence between those two cultures...be proud of what you guys are and stop acting like you're Ninja's a Samurais...lame ass people

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader first i'm not a "bro"...haha...i'm a girl...second i'm not an american,i live in romania...third this is the message of the movie,to accept the differences between cultures and to take the best from both sides...i guess you haven't read "shogun"...

  • @123MrsO agreed totally...

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader sorry to say but you are a a pathetic joke of nature...just watch the movie and then read "shogun" by james clavell...if you know how to read,of course...

  • @xstormheartx1 You mad cause i said an American acting like he's a Samurai hurt your feelings!? just deal with it, Americans need to stop fantasizing about other cultures, we never heard about any American Samurais...Hollywood needs to stop bastardizing and exploiting the needs of other cultures for its good! watching an American dude wearing a Samurai armor and fighting in the Feudal Japan was the LAMEST thing we had to see here in Asia...aw by the way, greetings from Chiba city, Japan.

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader sorry for you but this movie is awesome...and just because it's an american movie with an american actor you don't like it then i feel sorry for you...the americans are not fantasizing at all...the message of this movie is very simple and clear : peace, understanding,to take what is good from other cultures...it's a message about honor, courage and loyalty....and greetings from bucharest,romania...

  • @xstormheartx1 I never heard about that Shogun book but thanks for the suggestion, if i find it i will read it...i love the Japanese culture and i don't like when others try to change it the history and the contexts...it's just like Kill Bill, i liked this movie but i wasn't comfortable watching a blonde girl acting like she's a pro Ninja/martial artist slaying all those Japanese warriors...i mean if they took a Japanese girl for this role, it will be more credible...

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader i love the japanese culture and history as well but this doesn't mean that i dislike the hollywoodian movies about japan...if they have the financial resources to do a movie like "the last samurai" why should i be radical and dislike it?...i love the message of this movie and i don't really care who made it...btw,i love kill bill as well...

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader The title of the movie doesn't mean The Last Samurai as in "the only samurai left", it means The Last Samurai as in "the last group of the samurai". The white men were hired by Japan to train help train their army to use firearms, and the remaining Samurai refused to use guns, so they rebelled against the Japanese Empire. Tom Cruise was one of the people hired to fight against them, but the Samurai defeated his army and captured him, held him hostage to learn about him.

  • @EpicFknBrutality Yes I know! just like i've said, another American fantasy cause in the real life, that story never happened, and watching Tom Cruise holding a Katana in the battle field and wearing that Samurai armor was the lamest think we ever saw here in Asia...if we let Hollywood doing that kind of shit, soon we will have movies called "the last nigger on earth" starring Tom Hanks or "the last cowboys" starring Eddie Murphy and Chris Tucker...that shit got no-sens

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader Who cares? It's just a movie. It's fiction, it doesn't have to be accurate. The movie wasn't disrespecting Samurai or Japan... it was honoring the Samurai. Tom Cruise was just one part of the story. It was more about remembering the strength and honor of Japan's past warriors.

  • @EpicFknBrutality if you wanna honor the Samurai and their honorable way of life, why Hollywood felt the need to put an "American" touch on it by including a white actor who doesn't have a single atom with Japan!? you wanna Honor Japan and the Samurai? do a Movie who's based on real and true facts, there was no fuckin American during the last era of the Samurai...Americans had nothing to do with Japan expect when they nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki and killed million of innocent Japanese...

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader Don't act like Japan was so innocent in those times. You're talking about the same Japan that stabbed America in the back acting like they were allies, then attacked them without warning. And the same Japan that joined forces with the piece of shit racist German Nazis. America wasn't even involved in World War 2 until Japan provoked them. So you can stay butthurt about the nuclear warfare part of it, but in reality Japan brought it upon themselves at the time. Get over it.

  • @EpicFknBrutality get over what!? i just said that they nuked Japan and killed million of people, which is the only common fact that the US had with Japan...and now they show us an American cowboy who's acting like he's a Samurai? how pathetic! you're the one who need to get over your American fantasies! there's no American Samurai, no American blonde women who are ninja (Kill Bill) etc...would like to see your reaction if they came up with a cowboy movie starring Japanese actors...lame shit

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader I wouldn't care. Why? Because I understand the difference between fiction and reality. People can make whatever fuckin' movie they want, it doesn't bother me any. It's a movie, not real life. It's meant for entertainment purposes only. I don't sit around and have fantasies about being a samurai wielding katana or a ninja throwing kunai. I just watch a movie and enjoy it. I like Japanese and Chinese-made movies as well. Race or nationality doesn't matter to me. Stop being racist

  • @EpicFknBrutality and it's funny when you say "don't act like Japan was so innocent in those times" it's true that you Americans are always those who were innocent...it's true that the 166.000 who were killed in Hiroshima and the 80.000 who were killed in Nagasaki and the 48,644 civilians who were killed in Afghanistan, and those 1,690,903 civilians were killed in Iraq, and ALL those who died in the name of America's war on terror are NOT INNOCENT...it's the whole world's fault right!?

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader America did not kill over a million civilians in Iraq. Look up "Iraq Body Count" on Google, around 100 thousand civilians have been killed, but most of them weren't killed by American militants themselves, but in car bombings and military RELATED events. Same thing with Afganistan. People needed to get their facts straight. I never said America was innocent, I said that NOBODY is innocent in war. You can't blame everything on America, especially when Japan provoked the war.

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader Cruise became fascinated with the honor and courage of the Samurai while they were holding him hostage, and eventually he came to love the way of the samurai, so he tried to work hard to gain their respect and help them out against the Japanese Army.(They knew they needed his help since Cruise already knew about their guns and their war tactics, so it made sense for them to let him help) The movie was about the westernization of Japan more than anything though. Guns vs Swords

  • @ElAmirAbdelKader And despite what you think, America doesn't hate Japan. Most of Americans weren't even alive(or old enough to understand what was happening) during World War 2. We have no problem with Japan. Japan is our allies. We donated lots of money to help families that were devastated by the tsunami and earthquakes of Japan and the a lot of Americans felt sad for the people that were devastated by the nuclear bombings. It's never a good thing when civilians become casualties during war..

  • This movie makes me so ashamed of the U.S. that I must commit sepukku now. k bye

  • great movie !!!

  • Tom Cruise may not be the most VERSATILE actor of his generation, but definitely has the most impressive RESUME of his generation. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • This movie was badass.

  • its like when u watch this kinda trailer in tv then ur prob thinking this is boring. then when when it comes out its so damn awesum!!! way better than nowaday movies

  • Great movie, and for a change great trailer.

  • Great movie.

  • 666.000view

  • can somebody who knows how pleeease superimpose the song Turning Japanese over the appropriate parts of this video and upload it? funny. i would but im useless. leave the dramatic build-up intact. lol.

  • Movie has some of the same elements from Dances with Wolves. Both fantastic films but Last Samurai all the way!!!

  • This movie brought so many tears to my eyes. Such honor in the way of the Samurai.

  • Dances with Wolves, Avatar, The Last Samurai

The BEST MOVIES OF CHANGING SIDES!!!

  • i hate to agree but Tom Cruise looks epic in the Samura uniform..

  • @WGsFan Only asians look good

  • @WGsFan Probably his best movie, it´s pure art, since the photograhy up to soundtrack. Wonderful acting and altough the storyline is well knwon (A Man Called Horse, Dancing with Wolfs...) this one is really epic.

  • Incredible great acting. A jewel of film history!

  • predivno

  • 27 ninjas disliked this :D

  • it does't matter how many time is saw this movie but i think it's one of the best movies i ever seen never forget where you come from that's a real statement

  • IS FUCKING FUNNY WHEN TOM CRUIS DOES HE FAKE LAUGH XD

  • @Howedownit That was the idea in the movie ;)

  • samurai are the best warriors in the history of the world

  • EUROPEAN ARMY FTW!!!

  • my great great great great grandfather was a native and fougth the english >:O

  • Samurai's deserve so much respect for their honor, they are great warriors

  • tom cruise is there cok komik, tamam yoruma gecim türkce videolarini gördüm ondan türkce yaziyorum. tom cruiseu hic o filme yakistiramadim.... :(

  • I hardly understood what the Samurai were when I heard about this movie. I did research and tried to find out as much as I could about them before watching this movie. After spending so much time learning their ways and then seeing the movie, I was crying at the end. The Samurai are amazing and honorable warriors. I have the greatest respect for them.

  • Edward Zwick is probably the most underrated director I can think of.

  • is that shay mitchell?

  • Hey that asian guy that was about to de-head Tom played in Ip man! Hes the general!

  • I don't usually cry (very rarely) but this is one of the two movies I cried a bit :3 and Forrest Gump.

  • It was sad what happened back in those days, but, I wonder if Japan would've been as advanced and developed today if they didn't make these drastic changes and push the old ways aside without any hesitation for the pursuits of future technological advancements. As the saying goes, "Make way for Progress!"

  • @EasternMerchant

Well, when you think about it, it was the Samurai way that helped Japan advance as well.

  • Lol dude your right :P

Me too i cried at the end

  • I just watched this because i had too see it again. One of the best movies ive ever seen

  • name of song?

  • I went to Japan because of this movie

  • whats the song in this movie ??

  • It kinda pisses me off that in the trailer they only introduced Tom Cruise and not Ken Watanabe. >.>

  • @CutieHoney001 i tought the same^^

  • woah...its been 8 years

  • for some reason, tom cruise in this movie reminds me about john marston :P

  • TLL

  • /Tom We will talk here.

  • Well, not trying to feed this racism, but the Americans, no i'll say Europeans, indirectly caused the bombing at Pearl Harbor, and Japan's involvement in WWII. With Admiral Perry and American diplomats attacking and pushing Japan around just to exploit the country, Japan felt the need to militarize, and though the Samurai's end was tragic, it was needed in order for Japan to hold it's own as a country in the new era.

  • This movie is a hundred times better then avatar!! Way better story line!

  • @Dominic974280

James Cameron had the story to Avatar since 1988 and wrote an 80 page screenplay in 1993 BEFORE Last Samurai was released in 2003, he was gonna film Avatar in 99 for a 2000 december release date but decided to put the script in a drawer waiting a decade for the technology to improve to satisfy his vision. Then in 2005 he greenlighted the film thanks to LOTR's technology convincing him. Do you think he should have changed the story and screenplay?

  • @Johnlindsey289 i dont really care how long ago he wrote it or if he wrote it before this movie, or if he waited for better technology, i think the story line to this movie is way better then avatar!

  • @Dominic974280 Lol, why would you even compair it to Avatar?

  • @MrLimpanS ctually there is a comparison to be made between the two as they both have outsiders joining in on and becoming part of the people who they were initially hired to take down

  • @Dominic974280 everything is better!

  • @Dominic974280 It's pretty much the same storyline, so even if you think it's better than avatar you can't really say it's because of the storyline.

  • @Dominic974280 Wat does avatar have to do with this movie?

  • @Dominic974280 The fridge is hundred times better than a microwave!

  • @Dominic974280 Better in every way not just the story line, Avatar was the most unoriginal movie I've ever seen.

  • @Dominic974280 ehm, just comparing this to avatar is an insult... this kicks avatars ass all the way to japan and back

  • @fstjerne agree

  • such a spiritual movie.

  • It's a GREAT film! It makes me think about how screwed the world is right now. They had a beautiful and peaceful life! And the area..... is sush a beautiful place

  • @101andrewj dude, samurai and ninja are different!!ur mistaking em for ninjas.

  • At the part where the ninjas assaulted the samurais' village... since when did ninjas exist all the way to the 19th century? I thought ninjas were all gone during the late feudal age of Japan? However, does anyone know why there were ninjas wanting to kill them in their village? Is it because the ninjas want revenge on the samurais?

  • @Condom007of007Solace Yeah the ninjas were around for a long time, and those in the movie worked for the Emperor to try to assassinate the leader and destroy the rebellion from inside out, that is what ninjas do best.

  • @hakareshi Wow, that's pretty ironic... The Samurais once served their lords, including their Emperor, and the Ninjas were rougues and were treated like rougues... Now the tables turned and the Ninjas serve the Emperors and the Samurais are treated like bandits/rougues.

  • Japan's first Caucasian samurai was actually an Englishman named William Adams, born in 1564 in Gillingham, Kent, UK. He was a sailor and fought the Spanish Armada not long before he left for the far East when he eventually was taken by Samurai and refused to leave Japan because of his ship making qualities. Lord Ieyasu gave him two swords, the trade mark of a samurai because he was of great asset to Ieyasu.

  • No mind!
