He and Björn has written basically split since Colony, It's not 80% Jesper and 20% Björn or whatever you think. What they did lose though is a great guitar player, and it's a shame, but I am also really fucking excited as to what Björn can come up with alone, I personally reckon it's gonna be really melodic as he likes that kinda stuff.

In Flames created some amazing albums in the 90's that had sound that no other band has been able to crack or touch. When they switched to more of a mainstream sound after "Reroute to Remain" , that was a good choice for their popularity. Their music became more melodic and more like AMerican metal, but they gave up their old sound which got them their current longest-standing fans. Still I have every album and EP by these guys and I love them none the less. A true marvel of a band!!!

Mainstream doesn't even mean a change in musical style. Mainstream just means that more people listen to a band and the media generally recognizes the band. People, In Flames has mainstream for a lot longer than ASOP. In fact, ever since R2R came out seven years ago, they've pretty much been mainstream. Remember, that just means that more people knew about them. And they already had a HUGE fanbase before ASOP.

I agree with you a hundred percent. Although, it can mean a change in musical style. Mainstream isn't a good or bad thing, but there is a difference between changing and experimenting. Again, change is not a bad thing either. It's all in the eye of the beholder, of whether it is good or bad, and completely down to personal preference. There is always more music to listen to, like Insomnium for instance. They have changed, and in my opinion for the better.
