Not really the only difference between a 1 ton and a 3/4 ton is the width of the rear axle and the number of tires on the ground. My 3/4 ton pulls just as good as my one ton.

Newer Dodge D60 fronts went one step further in the direction of weakness when they made the CAD system. As far as D80's, many Dodge 2500 used them in the rear but they were basically D70's with a D80 differential. Dodge D80's are 35 spline while Fords were mostly 37 spline. yeah see the cummins motor has always made the biggest nubmers but its been a little limited to not destroy the trans i think they started using the new trans around 04 but i could be wrong, my dad has an 02 3500 and he runs 30lbs of boost and a banks fuel management systen but the trans was falling apart so he had to drop 150 hp by disconecting the banks system that was a sad day but cummins makes huge numbers its just the best diesel around cut and dry
My dad has a superchip, a m.b.r.p. exhaust system, and a k&n air filter. he has the 6 speed manual trans in his, and this guy in a 2500 4x4 chipped out GMC truck wanted a race. and he thought his 6.0 gasburner could outrun my dad's dodge. he got tought a lesson FOR SURE!!! we beat him so bad it was embarrassing, LITTERALLY!!!
Well if you got 3 kids the Meg Cab gives you enough space to really use it as a daily driver.
BTW: the space in it saved me from getting forced to buy a minivan by my better half and i finally get to drive my dream truck with my dream engine in it
