  • Well thats good enough for me....proof is in the pudding! Your hair shows that it works for you...so I will use my gels I have...thanxs!

  • I just bought the second edition of Curly Girl and in her book she says not to use a gel that has silicones, parabens, alcohol and phthalates....which is a problem I have findingg a gel without parabens cause LA Looks does have it in it! So does my Totally Twisted gel...now I dont know what to use as far as a low end gel from the drug store....please give me an ideal.

  • @4ever1122 LA Looks does not contain silicones or DRYING alcohols, and it's fine for me. If you read closely in the book you'll notice that parabens are controversial, but nothing has been PROVED. I have been using products with phthalates and parabens for years and they have never bothered my hair or built up. If you really want a natural gel though, I would go pick one out at whole foods. :)

  • Can you leave it in overnight?

  • @LollitaZooper yup! that personally doesn't work well for me, but I know it does for others.

  • OMG long sleeves such a good idea idk why I nvr thought of this bc reg tshirts don't give me enough material to have a comfortable plop!

  • can you use a micro-fiber towel for this? or is cotton the best for plopping? thanks in advance :)

  • @TheCojoKat microfiber is also supposed to be good :)

  • does this method work for short naturally curly hair?

  • @sugarbrownbaby like I said in the video, you can definitely give it a try, but if it's shorter than shoulder length it may smush the curls weirdly.

  • @sugarbrownbaby I have shoulder length hair when I straightened it (for the last time before trying the CG method). I did this, Some of it was straight, but I crunched it some bc I already had my gel in. But it made my hair a little too poofy for my taste.

  • hey when i plop top top of my head gets really thin and it is very see through, is there anyway to prevent this?

  • @SilverSurfar maybe plopping is not the best method for you. have you tried root clipping though? there are a few videos if you search around.

  • Can you plop with a short sleeved shirt?

  • @LoveMusic1549 yes! watch my old video on plopping--it's at the top of the related videos on the right. you just need a hairtie to secure everything.

  • I have very similiar hair, can you tell me what products you use? I currently use Ouidad climate control. I am learning about the CG method and thinking of switching up my products.

  • @13Isis13 please check out the FAQ on my profile for a complete list of products

  • how long should hair be for plopping? I recently cut my hair and its a little longer than shoulder length, will plopping work?

  • @102butterfly102 you will just have to try it and see! but i think you're good at that length. 15-30 minutes is a good amount of time to plop.

  • do you have to defuse yourhair do get unfrizzy hair.?

  • @iraqi4lyf24 i don't have to diffuse my hair, although i do that sometimes. my hair generally isn't super frizzy. :)

  • why do you plop?

  • @LexipooLuvsChu i mean, do you sleep in it?

  • @LexipooLuvsChu i plop because it gives my hair more volume at the roots, and it helps it dry quicker. i don't sleep in it, although some people do.

  • @waterlily716 haha yes target (:

  • haha i have that lamp!

  • @11EmODeViL11 bahah target ftw :)

  • hey, if i have wavy hair will this work for it too?, and if it does, should i comb my hair before i do this?

  • @derp74 yup, it will help bring out the curls. :) i wouldn't comb your hair because it will break up clumps in the hair.

  • @waterlily716 ok, thanks! :D

  • this worked perfecgt .. i used a old long sleeve and a old shirt,. i got perfect ringlets.... no frizz at all. im in middle schooool so hairs kinda a big deal... i am soo please to go back to school with hair as frizz free and perfect that i am blessed with. :) iu have one question... i relised a while ago that i shouldnt use shampooo, so ive only been using conditioner for quite some time,.. will my hair act faster to the curly girl method.. like wont take as long to get used to it ? :)

  • @gbondxo yeah there will be almost no "transition" period if you haven't been using shampoo for awhile :)

  • What do you dry your hair with straight out of the shower, before you plop? Can you use a terrycloth towel for that?

  • @whimsicalwombat Nope that's gonna frizz your hair just the same. I use another tshirt or cotton cloth for that. :)

  • @waterlily716 but will it work for straoght hai ?

  • I have a bang that I straighten. Should I just pull those out before I plop, should that work???

  • @familiaherrera1 hmmm, you kinda have to go all curly for this method. i have a video on wearing bangs curly in my hairstyles playlist. :) you could straighten them after plopping if you really want to or clip them up.

  • Sarah, Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with us "Curlies" out here! I think you are very knowledgeable about curl-care and styling, not to mention that you are a beautiful young lady. My daughter is finding she has inherited my curls as she gets older and we both plan to try out the plopping method. Keep up the good work!

  • I plop my hair and yes, it is great to walk around with that shirt bonnet. It gives my family endless laughs, haha.

  • Im gonna go try that now :)

  • Oh... haha I just finished watching the video.. nevermind that previous comment! I'll try sleeping with the plop :)

  • Since I take my showers at night, would it work if I plopped and went to bed like that? Like, if I just slept all night with the towel in?

  • lovelovelovelove! my curls look so much better! dont ever stop making curly hair videos :)

  • Hi! Just wanted to say that I found a long sleeve t that I didn't really like so I tried this on almostdry-slightly damp hair last night(except starting at the bottom of the t instead of the top), and left it on overnight (it didn't fall off). My curls came out curlier, and all I had to do was scrunch upside down. The problem was that I used gel the previous times I had plopped and my hair wouldn't go back down from the 'accordian' shape.

  • @differentbeautifully Oh lol. :) Maybe it would work better if you plopped for less time. :)

  • thankyou fellow human..you have changed my life!! xo

  • Hi, usually after I wash my hair I put in my gel & then scrunch out moisture with a t-shirt so my hair is more damp rather than soaking wet, after I put in AG re:coil & then put in duck bill clips to avoid pyramid hair. I was just wondering when will I fit in plopping? My hair takes forever to dry so this seems like a good route :)

  • @nichic96 You might be able to plop after you put the clips in. If not, you can try plopping, and putting the clips in afterward :)

  • @nichic96 PS My hair takes forever to dry too, so if it's cold out, it's nice to blowdry/diffuse it a bit.

  • @waterlily716 So will I plop after I put in gel, Balm, etc?

  • @nichic96 yes, after styling products :)

  • My curls have enough volume @_@ sometimes i wish i had magic powers so that when im tired of taking care of my hair i could magically make it straight for a week then go back to curls :P but THATS NOT GONNA HAPPEN RIGHT?

  • how often do you plop?

  • @ballababe789 Every time I style my hair wet. :) I don't like my curls if I just let them airdry without plopping.

  • Your hair turned out very pretty.

  • i'll try it. thanks!

  • do you have any rec's for sleeping with plopped hair? i'd like to try this but i toss and turn in my sleep and i'm worried about my hair coming out of the plop. thanks!!

  • @sfaithj maybe you could try wearing a sleep cap over the plop? i always plop in the mornings so I'm not sure.

  • I wish she showed us the final results

  • @Fly0nLittleWing they're right in front of your nose, dear. :) look in the description box for links to pictures.

  • what do you mean that a towel has little fibers? Could you explain? thanks

  • @arabcn sure. :) if you look closely at a towel you'll see it has little loops of thread that make up its texture. but then if you look at cotton it's completely flat.

  • hey! thx for another great video! so you're at college and living in a dorm now! is it tricky to take showers with so many hair products? and what are ya studying if u don't mind me asking? :)

  • @rainorchid11 it's not tricky, i just have an enormous shower caddy. and i keep all my styling products in my room. you should see the giant cardboard box of other hair stuff though. i need it! :)

i am currently undecided in my major, but i'm at a liberal arts college, so i don't have to declare for another two years.

  • Just saw the end results pics, you have such a beautiful curl pattern!

  • @KuriousKimmy thank you! :)

  • how come my hair is flat underneath the neckline? my hair is long like yours and everytime i put gel in it just falls flat what could i be doin that is wrong? thanks

  • @PlayTonicBubble as for dew points, i don't really pay attention to them. if my hair isn't looking great i just switch gels. :)

what do you mean by flat? flat like no curls or flat like no volume?

  • @waterlily716 my hair underneath tends to curl when wet but when i plop over night the hairs underneath are wavy and flat as in no volume. is it better to plop in the morning or night?

  • @PlayTonicBubble that just means that area of your hair has a different curl pattern and is wavy. try to encourage curls there by scrunching a lot and twirling sections around your fingers.

the curls might be getting smushed while you sleep. do they normally curl if you just airdry. it's different for everyone, but i only plop in the morning.

  • i plop at night and sleep with it in, when i wake up my hair is flat on top.

also what products to you use when the dew points are low?

    thanks!

  • I've tried plopping a few times and my hair hates it! My curls always come out weird and kinky looking instead of bouncy. Who knows, I could probably be doing it wrong, too, haha. Have you ever used any of the Jessi Curl products and/or towels?

  • @mldavis79 Everyone's hair is different, lol. :) I have some JC samples, but I haven't tested them out yet. I didn't know JC made towels?

  • @waterlily716 Yeah, she has several towels. I have the microfiber plunking towel and the microfiber scrunching towel. They're basically the same, except the scrunching towel is smaller. I don't know what products from the JC line you have, but I've always had pretty good luck with the Confident Coils Syling Solution and the Rockin' Ringlets Styling Potion.

  • I would love to see the rest of your routine and the outcome of this method. Great video thanks for sharing!

  • @NYtoIdahogirl i just put some pics up on daily booth! they're in the video description.

  • this is the way I do it....It works well for me...glad you told everyone about this:)

  • thank you soooooo much i needed a good one! does this work for layers in shorter hair? also what do you do after you take out the shirt? (do you leave in the shirt until its fully dry or like half way etc) sorry for all the questions loll and i love your personality<3

  • @drakecakesx3 yup it will work for layers. :) after you take off the plop, you can either diffuse with a blow dryer or let it air dry.

you leave it on for as long as you want, but 10-20 minutes is usually good.

  • thanks so cool :)
