I've made a whole lot of these towel 'cakes' and you actually do need to roll them tightly, otherwise they look sloppy... Kind of like this one.

LOL....I was a lil surprised at how sloppy this demonstration was. I make towel cakes and I'm always so careful to roll them up just right and pin them with safety pins and tie up with ribbons, etc. I also use dowels in the center to hold the layers together so that they aren't falling apart as his did..lol Just a few tips for those of you who want to make them. ;)

A friend of mine builds stacked and wrapped formations of baby products (as in diapers etc..) that look like a stacked tier cake. She sells more of these that you would think for baby shower gifts. Her designs are actually artistic and can be used. What am I going to use a bunch of rolled up towels for?

not to be rude..... but this was a rather very poor way of going about putting the towel cake together, you could at least use something like a tissue paper roll to fill out the top layer better to keep it from looking so pewnie!!!!! I mean if your going to show someone how to do something learn how to do it right yourself, First!!!!!

Maybe to give a traditional gift (towels) in a different way. They can be used as a decoration and then the bride and groom can take them home as their gift. It's much more creative than just handing them a box or bag of towels.
