I remember watching this movie when I was younger and absolutely loving the music. Now I'm sad that it's taken me so long to discover Korngold- what magnificent music!
Wow this makes me want to watch the movie! I love all of these old swashbuckling movies that Earl Flynn did. Not a pirate movie but he always played these kind of characters. Dashing, there ya go!!
And I thought I gave my allegiance away by my user name. You do make a good point in your commment, although it must be said that Korngold was somewhat rushed in composing this score. I vividly remember hearing a Richard Strauss piece years ago which was a slower version of one of Korngold's themes. He may have had to borrow, and maybe not, but the end result is endlessly entertaining.
it's from the forest when robin and his men are preparing in the trees, and sir guy and his troops are marching through and eventually robin and his men surprise attack them from the trees!
The greatest film score in the history of motion pictures by the greatest composer in the history of motion pictures. Erich Wolfgang Korngold -- unsurpassed.

It's a royal shame that movies don't have soundtracks like these anymore.

I agree. I think Hans Zimmer is very good but it will never be like old Hollywood again.

This could easily pass as a legitimate composition without being in a movie.

Let us not condescend. As Leonard Bernstein once pointed out ---almost all music is 'show music'.
