  • is it just me or does Dennis look a little like charles manson

  • its a big shame he drawned!

  • Lovely.

  • masterpiece

  • The only water in the forest is the river...

  • the only beach boy that didnt look like a pork scratching

  • @luke200202 bit harsh :)

  • I absolutely love this song. Dennis was the greatest singer of all time. I just wish that his brother Brian would have realized his talent. I think Dennis should have been the lead singer in Beach Boys and kicked out Mike Love, that boy is a lousy singer.

  • Point to self: Avoid the comment section.

  • He should use some backing vocals next time.

  • was he a drunkard?

  • @zimmcat And what da fuck are ye ? A twat ?

  • Like if ur tempted to make a river song moviemaker mow

  • Nothing is better than this.

  • this is amazing...

  • Sir Dennis Wilson Accomplished Something That No Other Beach Boy Could Dennis Proved To all

  • Hm...could Dr Whovians make this into a video for River Song? :P

  • Heard good things about this album, and starting my obsession with the BB 2 years ago and vacuuming up every album I could find, I picked this one up. I only knew DW as the handsome, but dubiously talented drummer from the early 60s. This was a mature, contemporary sounding rock album. Sadly the BB were putting out the miscalculation Love YOu at the same time. Too bad they couldn't have used POBs tracks. It might have really put the BB back as critically and commercially back for good.

  • this song is perfection.

  • amazing song, his album pacific coast blue is truly inspirational and touching.

  • Dennis never got the recognition he deserved as a solo artist and a BB member. This song rocks, and shows his talent as a songwriter and musician. He's definitely missed.

  • overnight this became one of my top favorites when I first heard it, I seriously cant stop listening!

  • Dennis was always my favorite BB; now I know why!

This song is tremondous! Epic! it probably inspired Led Zepplin for some of their songs.... Dennis is missed....

  • His Music Still Needs More Reconized

  • I love Dennis .

  • Wow...a new discovery, how did THIS not get airplay in the 70s?! THIS was relevant, the surfin' sound the Beach Boys mngmt tried to force was past its day. This album & smile point to how serious these guys could be & validates their critical praise. Thanks for posting this, man, I am a serious convert! Peace...

  • I was in Barnes & Noble last night. This song was in a book I picked up titled something like "1000 songs you must listen to before you die." Surprisingly, a Dennis Wilson song was in it. I didn't know he was known for being a good songwriter.

  • It's hard to find singers as great as Dennis Wilson nowadays.

  • His Talents Were Underated Extreamly Underated

  • love this song- but the intro always reminds me of Elton Johns "Tiny Dancer"

  • @theblahman This Tune Is Way Better Then Tiny Dancer

  • @babyimawantyou Not sayin its not, but i must say i do have a guitly spot for some early Elton John, so i love both songs, but in a confused state(ahem) i may mistake the opening riff of one for the other, but not in a bad way

  • Great song. I downloaded the album (along with unreleased Bambu), and it's Awesome!!!!

  • dennis will get bigger now his music was too far ahead we are getting nearer his time this song is just amazing

  • i wanna by this album and have him sign it for me i just dont wanna wakem up

  • A True California Boy, back in the day, sad liberalism(drugs) took him

  • @beyondalohas I know conservatives who abuse drugs too, my friend!

  • Dennis had more talent in his little finger than 99% of the so-called artists of today

  • Happy birthday Denny!!!!!! ;-)

  • Dennis Wilson From Guatemala City You Are The Best RIP

I will never forget your words :'(

Rainbows shining on my shoulders Oo-ooh sunshine warming up my day

Birds sing and in the air the sound of spring And in the wind the flowers bring

    Their presents to the day

  • i discovered this song from the movie marley and me. i love this song so much already!

  • @fishermangonewild and you are admitting this ?

  • I wonder who's on backing vocals in this.Doesn't sound like any of his brothers though.

  • @dmcguire70 It's a gospel choir, although apparently Carl is in the mix somewhere.

  • Denny, you are great! :'-(

  • I bought this when it first came out & stupidly sold it a couple of years later. Dumb angel.

  • I can feel the freshest coldest water rushing through my legs like the biggest discovery of someone that soonest discovered, for the love of all that all that is holy, there is something still worth crying for..... worthing laughing about.... it was there for an instant.... he saw it.. Dennis tapped into it.... And we can all now laugh and cry and (re)discover this JOY.

  • fove

  • This song give me the shivers...Excellent

  • ... he looks like jesus.

    :D

  • UK TV viewers have just seen reruns of Legends/The Dennis Wilson Story.

River Song with 100 piece choir is featured.

If you can access BBC iPlayer (BBC 4) it is viewable at this time (27 Feb)

  • yep, im in Irealnd but have the channel, so the documentary was pretty great, BBC 4 has some great stuff on the weekend, if your into your classic rock and the likes its a real treat

  • i miss this stuff man!!!!!!!

  • I think this is one of the best songs i've ever heard. Ever. wow

  • I think I agree with everyone...even Brian W said it: genius!

for those who don't know...there is a cd with POB and another album...more great stuff

  • i just heard this on marley & me! :D

  • @roobear133 the show rocks!!

  • great track, i love this song!! great composer, his talent was never really recognised!! one for the money, Dennis, i´ll always remember you!!

  • This is simply awesome.

  • awesome song, kinda reminds me a bit of the fleet foxes, only grander

  • dennis and the fleet foxes both are amazing.

  • This is pure magic... Bamboo and POB is amazing.

    God bless you Dennis !!!!

  • I have an original vinyl and the cover jacket is signed by Dennis when I met him on a signing tour in a Peaches (remember them?) record store in Michigan in 1977 -- anybody have a guess as to the value?

  • that is awesome that you met him. i met micky dolenz of the monkees there's my claim to fame...

  • wow,I feel like I just discovered a whole other person.I'm just sorry it took soooo long...

  • Dennis was a terrific person, musically and all around. Poor guy had his problems, tho. I have been a fan for 30 years and I still miss him. RIP Denny.

  • I too have an original vinyl copy of Pacific

    Oceamn Blue .

And I have the reissue CD too .

    LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was surprised, I just heard this song in the movie 'MARLEY AND ME'....cool choice of music!

  • Although I'm not fortunate enough to own Pacific Ocean Blue yet, I've listened to everthing I can find here. I feel like I've found buried treasure. Sonically and melodically amazing

  • i have a promo vinyl copy of this, it used to be worth a lot more before they finally reissued it on cd w/ bonus tracks.

  • It still is a collector's item. Don't let it go. Denny was a friend of mine. He gave me one of the first copies from the first pressing I hold it as a precious gift from a fallen friend. There's no amount of money that could get me to part with it. You should treasure what you have in the same way.

  • My previous post was directed to KCVROCKS2008. Hold on to that treasure, brother. It's worth more than you know.

  • This is Johny Buckland's (Coldplay) favourite song :)

  • This song is Pure Genius, Pacific Ocean Blue IS a real gem, a masterpiece that most bands or artist couldnt even come close to these days

  • I remember when I bought this album, when it first came out and my friends were like what he heck are you listening to, now I just grabbed the new CD and played it agin for the same gang and they flipped out. Denny & Carl RIP

  • as brian once said...dennis was a genius in his own right.

  • How the f*ck can anyone write that this man is a drunken loser?!? Think before you speak!!

  • Everyone has their own demons or issues they are trying to outrun in their minds. Most artists find their inspiration within themselves because of personal issues. These artists seem more real to others since their artistic outpouring is sincere and from the heart. Based upon your insensitive comment, you must have your own issues to deal with. Because if you were a well adjusted human being you would have compassion for those with personal faults and not publicly ridicule them.

  • well said.

  • this may be my favorite song ever

  • it's up there, at least top 100! so much emotion in this song.

  • There is a mystical quality in the Beach Boy's music that is quite unique in rock music.

Just listen to this track or Surf's Up, Feel Flows, etc.

The listener is transported to another level and somehow becomes closer to God and the beauty of nature.

Some kind of higher force inspired their music with a timeless beauty is inspirational and uplifting to the spirit.

    Genius.

  • that was deep. thanks for that my friend. i just downloaded this deluxe edition on itunes last night. r.i.p. dennis.

  • I totally agree. Most people are ignorant towards the beach boys thinking all they are is fun in the sun and cars etc. Their music was quite spiritual.

  • I never knew that Dennis co-wrote You are so

    beautiful with Billy Preston .

  • Although never officially credited, several sources have documented that Dennis Wilson of was a co-writer of the song. According to Wilson's biographer, Jon Stebbins, Wilson claimed that he and Preston spontaneously collaborated on the words to the song at a party.

  • I still miss this guy after 25 years. He was a cool guy who wasn't afraid to be who he was no matter what. He never looked down on anyone either and he made better music than a lot of these overrated people. Hey Denny, we still love you!!!!

  • @kalinamic Doesn't it always figure how the most talented are also the most tortured inside?

  • My favorite song on Pacific Ocean Blue. I am glad to hear they are re-releasing this album. I can still remember the day I meet Dennis!

  • Okapi

Fantastic job on the slideshow, thank you so much!

Also great news about the CD coming out everybody!

  • They're finally re-releasing Pacific Ocean Blue in May! I can't wait to hear this. For a while, Denny seemed to sieze the baton from Brian after he went off to his bedroom for all those years.

  • Holy moly, that's cool. That's great news!

  • mojoman801 - you're right, once Brian Wilson retreated from the band, it was Dennis who provided the best material, without a doubt. He also co-wrote "You are so beautiful" which was a huge hit for Joe Cocker. Listen to "Baby blue" on L.A. (Light Album), it's stunningly beautiful. Dennis was foisted on Brian and Carl by their mother because she didn't want him left out of their group. They didn't want him because he couldn't sing. He sure as hell made the most of what he had though. Talented guy

  • the production of this track is absolutely superb!

  • 10/10. Denny is my main man :-)
