Magnetmotorman, assuming that you are right that the motor is turning at 100 RPM, then the available torque at that speed is zero, yes zero. Myllow states that when he says that the motor is in equilibrium. Whatever is powering his disk, all that power is being burned off as friction in the bearings for zero available power or torque output. However, if you apply a load, the rotor slows down, and then you can get a minuscule amount of torque to produce a very small amount of charging power.

take off the bearing cover and clean all grease out unitl it is super clean - then spray a bit of slick 50 spray lube in there...you wont beleive difference cleaning out heavy grease from that bearing will make

Tape two drive coils and one pick-up coil of wire under the wood plank at opposite ends. Taped flat to the underside and the pulse motor would work in attraction mode. 12-volt battery off camera, use fine magnet wire, and a the usual stuff (transistor, resistor, etc) to make a Bedini pulse motor. This is easy to build and easy to tune. Drive coils are 180 degrees apart relative to the disk, thus no imbalance when pulsing in attraction mode.

Will work just as well on a glass table.

Run a little pneumatic line ala Keeley into the rotor support, thru the bearing axis. Pressurize the rotor support slightly, and allow the air to escape from cleverly-positioned slots or holes. The rotor will turn, it will be stoppable easily, the parts can be shown to be hollow and empty...and that's just one way to do it.

Tape a strong NdB magnet into your belly button. Sit in front of the device and Breathe Deeply at the right time. That's another way to do it.

And it saves me 20 dollars--I was about to go to the surplus store to buy some electromagnets that I could conceal behind the wall that could drive my disk. But now I see all that's necessary is the concealed motor in the substitute base, and tiny little brown power and control leads embedded in the crossbar of the table--because those LiPo batteries and RC controllers can get expensive.

There is some extra rotational kinetic energy gained in your rotor because when you release it, there is a small amount of positive magnetic potential energy between the magnet on the rotor and the stationary magnet under the rotor. This small amount of magnetic potential energy gets converted into rotational energy and thus you see the rotor go past your reference marker. Conversely, in the other direction, there is a small amount of negative magnetic potential energy. Rocket science.

Ampere's Law: In the case of static electric field, the line integral of the magnetic field around a closed loop is proportional to the electric current flowing through the loop.

When there is no current flowing through the loop, then the solution to the line integral has to be zero. The net magnetic field is zero around the loop. That is the case for your experiment, and for Mylow's experiment. Keep laughing.

you should make a mechanism that adds magnets to the arm when the speed increases so that the pushing force grows. I think the weight of the disc causes it to pass the barriers which should be as small as possible when speed is low, but enough to accelerate... The faster it goes, the greater the barrier can be.

If this thing works as you claim you won't have any problem placing it on a glass-topped table and giving a demonstration. It would be helpful if you invited some independent witnesses in for a viewing. Comments continued : My guess is that your present spacing between the stator and rotor magnets is critical. If you want to get more power out of your configuration changes are to be expected necessary with rotor magnets spacings as well. The terminal angular velocity you are experiencing was not present in my model, which was made up of plexi glass. My model therefore kept on accelerating and I was forced to stop it from entering hyper revolution. Power=torque x omega (angular velocity).

Congratulations Mylow. You beat me to it. As I told Sterling I had model running about 3 years ago but was forced to dismantel it as I had to give up the accommodation (model 2.5 x 2.5 meters square) and my basement free floor area measures only 1.5 x 2 meters. I was going for a patent as my approach was one that I've never seen or found in patent search machines.

To comment on your work : My experience is that the magnets do NOT demagnetize, ergo we are not breaking the laws of thermodynamics.

The rule of thumb that I've heard several places on the internet is that the rare earth magnets lose approximately 1% per year of their magnetic field strength.

I don't know whether people using this rule of thumb are merely quoting the same info source, or have corroborated this information by occasional measurement of magnets over a period of years.

Some magnet manufacturers have put very strong rare earth magnets in opposition, so that one is "levitated" over the other against gravity, and left them like that for years. They don't get any closer together, like they would if gravity remained constant but the magnets got weaker.
