I remember being at the very first NEARFest roadieing for the band Crucible and being back stage when Spock's Beard was setting up, Cogs in Cogs was playing and right when that killer groove comes in right after the chorus I started grooving out and looked over at Neil Morse who was doing exactly the same and we both kinda nodded at each other...good times. RIngo star was a great drummer and guys like Portnoy get way to much fame because they play fast, its only when they are playing slow you see all their flaws. There is so much more knowledge available to aspiring musicians now than there ever was in my learning days. A real true blooded drummer doesn't care what type of music he is playing. Music is a lifeform of it's own and the drummer is the heart beat of it. A real drummer has no favorite tempo, he loves them all. He can make a set of buckets sound sweeter than a $40,000 drum set.

@Sibs1990 Portnoy usually plays a MASSIVE drum kit (filled with toms, splashes, chinas, ect, just look up Dream Theater live). Usual kit is a good 20+ piece. This one? Two cymbals, two toms a bass and snare. Much smalled then what you usually see him perched behind.
