I would like to see it take on a few choice 4 wheel drive trails in Australia the kind that requires good wheel travel something independent suspension will never get. On the road it looks like a nice car.
Luckily the mud coming out the river wasn't deep or there wasn't a bank to climb. Everything this thing did a Subaru outback can do. Lol I'll stick with my Toyota crawler. I don't see this being the 4x4 of the year at least not in America. But I guess in other shit countries it could be.

They are great off road vehicles. They do better when you have the proper tires. I had an LR3 with skid plates, rino brush guard, etc. Traded it in for the LR4, which had a nicer interior and larger engine with all the accessories installed.
Fucking awesome. I'm getting one after the New year. Fit and finish on the interior is top notch, too. Range Rover is nice but it's not $40k nicer the the Disco.

mannn RANGE ROVER FTW! by the THE BEST vehicle out there. i didnt really want to spend $90,000+ for a vehicle and im more of a sports car person. the supercharged edition of this vehicle is amazing. bet there is no other vehicle out there you could look good in going to a fancy restaurant or hotel AND do some serious off roading with your friends and fam. @drukqsi besides the wrangler,all the jeeps are worse then land rovers,both the commander and grand cherokee use traction control,and have less ground clearnce then a subaru outback.While land rovers can be fitted with rear lockers and nearlly 11 inches off ground clearance,which is more then the wrangler
@rangerover06sc You're only considering stock. You can get mod the hell out of jeeps, and I know old cherokees can be pretty amazing off road. There are plenty of cars that can do even more for cheaper. FJ's, 4runners, xterra's, all of them can do what land rovers can do, and cost half the price.

@rangerover06sc Well a smart car doesn't have the mechanics or the structure to handle offroading, modded like you say or not. The reason why I'm saying modded rather than stock is because for stock they know that most people that buy them aren't using it for offroading, so they don't waste the money producing it that way. Any of the cars I listed could handle what was done in this video, but a modded wrangler, xterra, or 4runner could handle more than a modded land rover.
are the newer (2000+) Land Rovers getting more reliable? I want to buy a used one for weekend driving and some offroading but the reliability is supposed to be legendarily bad with Land Rovers. Although if Im on going to be driving it 1 maybe 2 days a week a used one should last 3-4 years no problem right?
@killerkowalczyk Absolutely, over the years i have owned 4 Land Rovers (LR3, LR4, and two Range Rovers) and never have a I had a major issue with reliability, the cars only ever had to go into the shop for simple maintenance. There are some cases of people getting "lemon" Land Rovers, but they are quite seldom. I guarantee that any 2000+ (cant vouch for Discovery 2s and LR2s) will satisfy you completely. The car is amazing in any condition. Go to some Land Rover forums for more testimonials.
I have a Land Rover Discovery 2003. I just went off-roading and hit really deep water/mud/dirt...the works. Does anyone know if you need to service your car after something like that? Like there doesn't seem to be any damage or anything like that but should i bring it to an auto shop to change the fluids or anything?

@ejuoi nearly everyone (thats 10's of thousands) registered on landroverforums [dot] com? Granted, most of them aren't driving a brand new Ranger Rover. I bet that Land Rovers see a lot more off-roading on the latter half of their truck-life rather than the beginning. I own a 2004 Land Rover Discovery and bought it to off-road, but it would be hard for me to throw down 50-80k for a new Range or LR4 and take it rock crawling.

Nice scenery but other than the water part it didn't show much about the LR4 improvements and new computer technology. If your off road going across a large body of water do just go across a take a chance on the depth or just hope you don't sink. The breather is on located above the front wheel wells. Be careful how deep you go with a stock land rover
mmm had a Series 3 (first of the TD5 engines); it was a complete piece of crap and I sold it after 14 months. That was when LR was owned by BMW who actually know how to make cars. Couldn't imagine how much worse it would be under the Americans and Ford. Now it's in the hands of the Indians, famous for the dubious quality Mahindra 'ute' and I think anyone that pays over AUD$100K for a UK made Indian owned Land Rover really needs their head read.

fucking dickwad! Series 3 didn't have TD5 engines mate, go blow your bullshit horn elsewhere. I have had a Series 2 with 250,000 klm on the clock for five years without any major problems at all.
um yeah they did...the Disco sold here in Australia prior to the Discovery 3 was called the Series 3. The issue was that LR used plastic spacers to fill the oval shaped bolt holes in the head of the TD5 engines. This led to overheating and premature engine failure. In my case after about 80000km (12 months). This 12 months also included 2 power steering systems, 3 ECU's, various electronic bits - including having the immobiliser fail in the middle of nowhere. The last straw was the holes in the
body that was caused by poor workmanship. This allowed water into the cabin. The rain used to fill the passenger footwell. I finally got my money back from LR after a long legal battle.
Dud, seriously, you need to correct your facts. I should know as I have a series II (that's 2) disco and it is a TD5 and I also live in Australia. The disco series 3 has the 2.7lt TDV6. My TD5 is a fricken champion. Love it, pulls hard, when it needs to. Has heaps of torque & traction. Now i want a disco3/4.

@ejuoi nearly everyone (thats 10's of thousands) registered on landroverforums [dot] com? Granted, most of them aren't driving a brand new Ranger Rover. I bet that Land Rovers see a lot more off-roading on the latter half of their truck-life rather than the beginning. I own a 2004 Land Rover Discovery and bought it to off-road, but it would be hard for me to throw down 50-80k for a new Range or LR4 and take it rock crawling.

Nice scenery but other than the water part it didn't show much about the LR4 improvements and new computer technology. If your off road going across a large body of water do just go across a take a chance on the depth or just hope you don't sink. The breather is on located above the front wheel wells. Be careful how deep you go with a stock land rover

mmm had a Series 3 (first of the TD5 engines); it was a complete piece of crap and I sold it after 14 months. That was when LR was owned by BMW who actually know how to make cars. Couldn't imagine how much worse it would be under the Americans and Ford. Now it's in the hands of the Indians, famous for the dubious quality Mahindra 'ute' and I think anyone that pays over AUD$100K for a UK made Indian owned Land Rover really needs their head read.

and therein lies the problem; the LR4 is merely another evolution of poorly made British vehicles. But now the funding comes from the Indians. If the Germans, who actually understand modern manufacturing could not get a decent product built, how do you expect the Indians to do any better?

um yeah they did...the Disco sold here in Australia prior to the Discovery 3 was called the Series 3. The issue was that LR used plastic spacers to fill the oval shaped bolt holes in the head of the TD5 engines. This led to overheating and premature engine failure. In my case after about 80000km (12 months). This 12 months also included 2 power steering systems, 3 ECU's, various electronic bits - including having the immobiliser fail in the middle of nowhere. The last straw was the holes in the

Dud, seriously, you need to correct your facts. I should know as I have a series II (that's 2) disco and it is a TD5 and I also live in Australia. The disco series 3 has the 2.7lt TDV6. My TD5 is a fricken champion. Love it, pulls hard, when it needs to. Has heaps of torque & traction. Now i want a disco3/4.
