Yup it works. Things to check for: 1. is the flash diffuser pulled out even slightly (the plastic piece that slides out right above the bulb), 2. if the flash head is not in its default position the auto telescoping won't happen, i.e. rotated, 3. click the Zoom button and rotate the dial counter clockwise, 4. make sure you are attached to a camera that is turned on, you won't see the little box for auto zoom otherwise.

@WackyBush1 Yes, but this flash still has overheating problems.
You should get the top dogs: ATG Nissin Pro/ATG Nissin MG8000/Nissin MG8000/Quantum QFlash or Metz 60/70 Series.
ATG, Nissin, Quantum and Metz are much better than Canon and Nikon.
