My wife does not have a clue about plants. I tell he how to take care of them and she does ok. I on the other hand have basil and lettuce growing lushly in containers on my deck.
Just wanted to say that you're doing a great job. I hope the new place you moved to had a place for an in ground garden. I love that your children help you with it also. It's so important. But I wanted to tell you that you shouldn't use peat moss. It's not a sustainable resource. Coconut pith is though. You can buy online. And you can make those little peat starter pots out of newspaper! Rock on!
here is the funny thing when the music started playing I thought you were whipping his ass lol girl you never leave a man to look after anything they ALWAYS will let something slide
Oct 2008 I left town for a 6 days (including the days I left and returned), and I was determined to keep the tomatoes and cukes going without help.
So I kept saturating for a few days before, and I saw someone online "improvising" Aqua Globes with soda bottles. I used 3 liter ones in the tomatoes, and smalled in the smaller pot plants. It all lived.
I wouldn't trust someone who doesn't garden, they don't understand how hard it was to "get there".
Well...hard to be too mad when we're moving in a few weeks and will be in temp. housing for a bit. I was in process of thinking of what to do with them when this happened. I GUESS he saved me the trouble. Thanks for your comment.
Man, my husband is the same way, I have trained my kids to make sure there is always moisture, they think its fun sticking their fingers in the containers, lol
I had to replant or relocate some of my container plants into the ground, they were not doing very good..now I have lots of good ones, but if it was up to my husband...-_- it would look just like yours..
This is why my wife doesn't leave me at home alone :) Of course, being a garden geek I would remember to take care of the plants - it's just the kids who might suffer :) Can't wait to see your new place and garden!!
oh man! I guess we are the opposite couple, I do all the gardening and I have to ask the wife not to over water the plants when I'm gone. I usually call daily for a weather update and ask how's the garden doing , look out for bugs ect...you have quite a few ripe tomatoes! awesome
You can't tell in the video but all the tomatoes have big holes in them from bugs. I found a couple that were good but it's pretty much a complete loss except for 2 plants. I SHOULD have told him everyday to water but I was trying so hard not to be nagging wife...and see what happens! Next time...I'm nagging!

Damn , will you be doing containers this year?
Ha Ha reminds me when jeans with holes were in an I finally had a nice hole on the knee cap but it took forever for the jeans to get to that point .
I came home one day after he had did laundry an he was so proud of himself that he sewed the hole up .
Yikes. xD

That bites, they have those garden watering tube kits at wal mart clearence for 6.00 right now.
They also have a timesr you attach to the faucet in line with the hose and just walk by and turn it 1 time, gives you 10 min of water.
Better luck next time.
