A boy turned down for leukemia treatment because he didn’t report he had an preexisting acne problem is sickening. A woman who developed breast cancer being dropped (died) because she didn't report to her insurance co that she had a yeast infection is inexcusable. Millions are spent yearly by healthcare corporations to find loopholes like these to screw the sick and fatten themselves even more. So you are saying that Jesus would agree that healing people should be a profitable business? Wow!
Perhaps if YOU didn’t have a job that w/ decent healthcare & had to suffer or was turned away repeatedly from receiving healthcare because of a preexisting condition & must suffer the rest of your life w/ unbearable, untreated pain so that the profit margin for some billionaire stockholders would go up a few points, you might feel differently.
@littleladyinbigworld If govt didn't subsidize healthcare, in the form of corporate socialism, NOT capitalism, your costs would PLUMMETT, and quality would improve. Companies that charge obscenely high rates would go out of business unless they lowered their rates, while maintaing good quality, in order to compete with other health insurance companies. Since the govt doesn't need to compete w/anyone, costs would go up.
@martymcfett You spoke of Brazil (not sure why you picked a random country so very different from the US when you have the entire globe of universal healthcare to choose from) but you also pecked at Australia & Japan. If their system is so bad than why is Australia’s life expectancy 81.81 years & Japan’s (even with much higher stress levels) at 82.6 while the US is only 78.3?
@martymcfett Like I said, their lines are longer because they allow EVERYONE in them. That’s no excuse to ignore millions of others to keep that line shorter.
@martymcfett You seem a respectable person & you REALLY earned my respect for being honest about not working (unable, not unwilling). But, like my husband, I have serious health issues & can’t even afford most of our meds. We can’t even go back to the doctor for a while. If you give up getting healthcare but still have your back problem, then you will get a nibble of what my family has been dealing with for many years now. We must sacrifice our health for our daughter's; not a reasonable choice.
@littleladyinbigworld Look. I feel very sorry for what you and your family must be going through. I see where you're coming from, but you must understand that corporations aren't evil. They are made up of people like you and me; they're not robots. When corporations are taxed too much, that's less money that not just CEO's make, but assembly line workers, their families, their healthcare, college educations, etc... Then, that company can't afford to keep employees, and is forced to lay them off.
I never meant to imply they were "evil". That's a strong word. There are good and bad in every category. I say Hitler was evil; now can you imagine the next Hitler with the personal funding of Bill Gates? At least with government we have a chance to pick and choose (even if it's between a turd and an idiot) rather than having NO say-so in who runs the show. But the 1% are often (in general) greedy, since capitalism itself is defined by the greediest being the most likely to succeed.
@littleladyinbigworld"Pick and choose the govt should pick and choose who might be a Hitler and who won't be."Hitler was in love with big govt.He picked and chose who lived and who died, much like abortion does todayFor Hitlerit was that Jews and other groups were inferior to him. In modern times,it's that babies who might be born into a shitty world might not live a good life,so we might as well deny them the chance to live any kind of life. You know deep down that's wrong.
@martymcfettMy point about abortion is that it's ironic how republicans play the family card.“Give babies a chance to be born & protect the family” yet when it comes to heath care they don’t mind letting babies be sick or die AFTER they’re born. True; an insurance corporation decided to not give a young boy medical treatment for leukemia because he didn’t report an acne problem. A mother denied HIV treatment after a vicious rape because the rape was “a preexisting condition”. Is that less wrong?
@littleladyinbigworld If health care co's weren't subisidized by the govt, they would be able to compete for affordable and quality healthcare. Supply and demand. How's that letting people to die? The Soviet gulag's the more charitable solution?
@martymcfett Here's another thing to look up; number of small businesses vs big ones in this country. Believe it or not, small ones are in fact the top employer. Please, no more of this Occupy bull shit here. I say this for your health, you're only embarrassing yourself.
@martymcfett As far as not shopping at Wal-Mart, they have their hands everywhere, so you can't really help but support them. They all do that. If you don’t like the oil co. then you can just not drive, right? Nope. Petroleum products are in countless products. Look up how many production companies are actually owned by Disney but use a different name. They are so intertwined; they are practically a government in themselves. Like a government, they must have some kind of harness or they go wild.
@littleladyinbigworld Ever heard of Target? K-Mart? Blue light deals? Fred Meyer? Pathmark? Foodtown? A&P? There're infact alternatives to Wal Mart. You don't like BP? Fill up at Mobil, or Shell. Why not Chevron or 76? Whatever ones are in your town. Unless you live in Eastern Montana, you definately have at least some of the above around you. But then if you live in E. Mont, you wouldn't have a Wal Mart around you either. So how exactly do they "control everything?''
@martymcfett They have found a loophole for boycotts. They simply have so many different places where they get their funds; boycotts don’t hold the same power as they had in the past. The power of We The People is fading fast. (Especially recently) governmental attempts at the removal of the 5th and 2nd amendments are obvious. If we stop officials from getting HUGE donations from CEO's, they would be more dependent on the People again and do what we want.
@littleladyinbigworld You're a leftist. What do you care about your 2nd amendment rights? "More dependent on the people if CEO's stopped giving them dobations..." CEO's are people. So they can't be involved politically? They can't vote, even though they too fall into the category of we the people? Record yourself speaking, play it back, and no, that's not the voice of Marx, Hitler, Mao, Stalin, or Pol Pot talking back.
@littleladyinbigworld I'm not pro-greed in society, which does happen. But leading by example is really the best way to combat it. There'll always be greed of some kind. Govt can't stop it. It's our resposnibility not to elect people to office who may be greedy and power hungry, and then people'll just see those obsessed with greed as assholes. If you don't like Wal Mart, no one's forcing you to shop there.
If it takes longer to treat people in the places which have universal healthcare, it’s because the lines are longer do to everyone being welcome in them, not just a certain few.
And in this country, with this system, millions go unseen by doctors because they have poor income. Many more get weak healthcare. Many have died because they can't afford cancer treatment. Remember those "we care about you" Cancer Treatment Centers. They won't take you unless you have specific kinds of insurance and the hell with the rest. Let them die.
@martymcfett OK, let's finish the list of other countries that care enough about there own people to have universal healthcare, shall we? Australia, England, Japan, France, Sweden, Brazil... oh, wait, I'll cut it short... it's quicker to just say the fact that we are the ONLY industrialized country (about 200) in THE ENTIRE WORLD and the ONLY one RICH OR POOR in the entire western hemisphere that does NOT have it. So stop making it sound like only a couple of the less desirable places have it.
@littleladyinbigworld French workers pay 19% of earnings in taxes for health insurance, yet 90%+ purchase complementary PRIVATE INSURANCE. Avg waiting time for mamogram in Italy=70 DAYS. 20% of treatable colon cancer patients in UK at time of discovery are considered INCURRABLE by time treatment available. Canadian Supreme Court ruled govt must stop restricting private sector from providing healthcare when national system frequently fails. Shouldn't sound very desirable if you have half a brain.
@littleladyinbigworld Canadian Chief Justice Beverly McLachlin: "Access to a waiting list is not access to healthcare." UK, only 8 CT scanners per million people, only 7 MRIs. FR, only 10 CTs per mil, 5 MRIs. US, 34 CT SCANNERS PER MILLION PEOPLE, 27 MRIs. Nobel Prize medicine winner from US 36 out of last 43 yrs, 84% of the time! 94.5% WALMART employees have health insurance.
@littleladyinbigworld Greece needs apx 5,000 general practitioners to meet demand. As of 2009 only have 600. Due to lack of doctors, patients often offer up bribes for appointments. Brazil life expectancy=72.5 yrs.US=78.1 yrs. Swedish waiting time for doctor=14 days. Australia=at death, negative balance has to be meant (govt quota=more tax $). Japan's emergency rooms turn away 10's of 1000's per yr who need urgent care bc govt can't afford it. If you dont like capitalism go to N KOREA!
You always say you don’t want government control over personal choice; yet how about your government intrusions on same sex marriage? A woman’s right to choose? You don’t want government control, yet after a days work, let someone smoke a little weed instead of a having a beer in the privacy of their own home and watch what your rightwing “freedom” does. You don’t want a lack of government control- you just want it all your way.
And I really love how you claim to hate abortion because you are the protectors of the unborn babies, yet do don't care about getting those same babies healthcare AFTER they are born. Is THAT what Jesus would do??? Ridiculous. You make no points below- only attempts at jokes and movie spoofs. Hmf- hardly worth my time.
@littleladyinbigworld Alright, let's set this straight once and for all. Listen, you might learn something. Jesus would want the most affordable healthcare possible available to human beings alike. In its purest form, the free market does just that. Supply and demand... ever heard of it? People do CHOOSE what healthcare works best for them based on two criteria: cheap and good. If govt didnt subsidize healthcare, as is the case now w/FDA cartel, companies that did overcharge would lose business.
Conservatives yammer on about liberals taking away choice. First we wanted a Single Payer OPTION- you said NO. Then we suggested a Public OPTION- you said NO. It is you that takes away the choices. You left us with virtually only one way to pass Universal Healthcare, and then you complain about choice. Healthcare is a right- not a privilege.
@Hoschi0913 That is beyond ridiculous. Flying and driving are similar things for obvious reasons. How does healthcare fit in with flying and driving? How does not dying or living is pain similar? How is some child getting leukemia, and YOU saying- "Well, since your family doesn't have much money, that's just tough for you, child. You must DIE, but this child of a wealthy daddy gets to get a tonsillectomy because he (for whatever reason) has money- so we'll take care of you.
@Hoschi0913 Flying, driving and healthcare? Really? Remember Sesame Street? "One of these things just doesn't belong...?" If you are going to speak, perhaps it would be better if you made a point.
read the Constitution pls,Article1 Section8,congress shall have power.....and to provide for common defence and GENREAL welfare of the United States,.........you will notice it does NOT say individual or personal Welfare nor does it mention in any way ,word or meaning healthcare, which concludes it is up to you to take care of yourself, also does it NOT state nowhere that you have a right to healthcare or the insurance thereof, therefore it is a privilege not a right
@littleladyinbigworld Single option, public option, any option is trash. nationalized health care ends up becoming about turf-protection, central control, dehumanization of individuals, and a monopoly on health service rationing to a clique of “masters of the universe” who end up thinking their number-crunching degrees in epidemiology give them moral license to determine who deserves to live and die.
@ARepublicYou DARE to talk about DEHUMANIZING while you refuse to allow people access to healthcare? You DARE to talk about protecting turf, control & monopolies while DEFENDING the insurance corporations that have dominated healthcare, turning it into a business in order to get even RICHER from our misfortune? How does allowing MORE people access to healthcare deciding who "lives & dies" but keeping it unobtainable to millions NOT? Are you serious? Would Jesus vote against Universal Healthcare?
@littleladyinbigworld Would Jesus trust earthly government, an institution that sentenced him to death on a cross, with managing people's healthcare? Or would Jesus stress that you and me, as individuals, give to the poor and vulnerable, and not have the state steal (8th Commandment) and give to whom they choose w/out our input. Charity works. The U.S. is still the most charitable nation in the world despite current leftist schemes being forced down our throats. True capitalism is charitable.
@martymcfett Since I always get multiple attacks from fellow bloggers I am going to just answer in the general respond category from now on instead of replying directly to each one. it takes too long. thank you.
@martymcfett The left is far more charitable than the right. Have you forgotten your stance. You are the ones who complain the "bleeding hearts". If true capitalism is charitable than we aren't true capitalist with OUR OWN sick people or we wouldn't be having this debate about universal healthcare because there would be no need. Did Jesus say; "heal the sick," yes. Did he say turn a profit? No. Did he say to "care for the poor," yes. Did he add, "but not at the expense of funding the rich-? no.
@littleladyinbigworld Like atheists like you have any right to talk about Christ. He said that YOU and ME, AS INDIVIDUALS CARE FOR THE SICK. Not that a Godless institution-govt, whom Jesus despised, should provide for you-aka-steal wealth from someone else, thus creating more poverty, which Jesus wouldn't want. And pleased respond to the FACTS I have laid out for you instead of dodging them, as the left always does. And why is every charity run by the rich dimwit-aka-the right????
@martymcfett How can making poor people NOT pay for healthcare create MORE poverty? My family is in debt for no other reason than medical bills that can not be avoided. You want people to spend money to improve the economy, then make it so every spare dollar they have doesn’t go to ridiculously high med-care bills. They’ll stimulate the economy only if they are able to buy stuff.
@martymcfett Also, I love how you cry-baby about rights being taken away by the left, yet YOU righties are always the ones telling people the have no right to even talk about something. Freedom of speech is the most basic freedom we have. I can’t speak out against a war I disagree with or I hate my own country. I’m not allowed to say “Happy Holidays” because that is too fair to everyone evenly, and it’s all about you. I can talk about Jesus if I want, so get over it, sir.
@martymcfett Ah, judgmental as most rightwingers. You assume I am an atheist. Judge not- you are wrong. Shocking though it may be, there are gray areas in between. I am just not silly enough to think you can pray away illness. And it is you who are dodging. Instead of healing the sick, how about not making sickness at all? Pray for that and see what happens. What do you think; Jesus would plop down here and say, "You're correct. Let the people suffer as long as a profit can be turned." Whatever.
@littleladyinbigworld You're right, we haven't been practicing true capitalism in this country for a very long time. If there were no profit motive, there wouldn't be much of an incentive for a doctor or healthcare provider to work.
or for "regular" people for that matter,as personal example, way back in the GDR,if i did work my butt off or did nothing on work,i still got the same pay, same paycheck every month,630 bucks,if i worked hard or not at all
yes i actualy did "survive" it and the communist crap they tried to put on me .....lol,its kinda funny in a way,as hard as they tried, as much it did made me realize that this system sucks and stinks on ice, just to bad that some people here in the US claim it is such a good system while never have nor had any experience with it and yes you can't explain it to make people understand, sad thing is you need to experience it to get the "Dictatorship" of the Proletarians
@Hoschi0913 I feel you man, God bless you. Haven't experienced it first hand, but my grandfather was an MP in the U. S. army in the mid 50's on the Czechoslovak/West German border. He could peer across and see the other side of the Iron Curtain first hand. My friend's parents escaped Poland in 1981, and another friend was born in Tito's Yugoslavia. Supposedly their "communism" was a step above the Soviet bloc's.
oh Tito i remember him / heard of him,he unifyed his country with an iron fist, just like Castro (still) does in Cuba, the "perfect" dictator of the prolitarians,if you have a chance to meet a yugoslavian ask him/her how they liked it ,i bet they didnt, but it wasnt all bad back then, education(standards) was top notch,i got taught stuff in my 10th grade school that you guys here get in 12th grade school (college i guess),but then again i went 6days a week to school
@martymcfett England is a socialized system of medicine (government owns the healthcare system). In most other places it runs more like socialized insurance, which essentially means we throw our money into one big pot in order to pay for medical needs equally. Let’s face it, no matter what we do the system is going to have hiccups and even occasional brick walls, but equality with something so basic as healthcare is not too much to ask. If you're pro-life, that should include after one is born.
@martymcfett It is a matter of humanity- not profit. We’re tired working hard yet being in pain- allowed to suffer for our economies sake. We are promised; Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Life is the most basic of those things. I just don't want to die so some strangers (with full healthcare) sitting in at corporate desks can add a few more bucks to their billions. We keep their taxes low in order to encourage them to spend their money, not so low that they can live on the interest.
@littleladyinbigworld WRONG! You and me are born with natural unalienable rights; governments don't provide them, they protect them. Some protect these rights more than others.
@martymcfett Banning abortion (whether it is federal government or local) is a priority for many republicans- maybe even most. So if one is pro-life, shouldn’t that include after the baby is born? Instead of not asking what my country can do for me... I think it should be mutually beneficial. The constitution is a pact. We provide a collected fund for our elected officials to spend (hopefully) to benefit the whole. As to how successful we are as an individual, that’s up to us.
@littleladyinbigworld So killing babies just because they MIGHT have a shitty life if they're born is ok? What if your mother decided that if you were born into this world, you'd have a shitty life? Ever heard of adoption?
"Socialism or statism" -> You know what: go take some poli-science because they are not the same... Technically, the ideological conception of socialism goes against the idea of statism. Socialism is to put the economy under democracy: I disagree with it because of the tragedy of the commons, but I will like to see more coop...Statism put sovereignty in the nation-state:fuck the people, the state&the "supreme leaders" are more important (can't have any agreement with that)(yes,USSR was statism)
@BoredomCorner America has actually outspent pretty much all of those nations in social medicine for a long while. People seem to not realize how much money goes in to medicade, people also seem to not realize America has very high income taxes and has had them for a long long time. But instead of putting most of those taxes into education, healthcare or sensible welfare for the needy, it pretty much all goes to wars that suck trillions of dollars from our coffers.
Reagan was the worst human being in American history . He deregulated the banking industry , set us 20 years back environmentally (even removed White House Solar Pannels) , allowed for coal companies to dump toxic waste into fresh water with much smaller penalties , shut down over half of our mental health facilities , increased our prison population by 2 times , sold arms to third world dictators , and knowingly falsified the threat of Soviet attack to increase military budgets .
Reagan was so great and not for soicialized medicine that In 1983, he raised the gasoline tax by five cents a gallon and instituted a payroll-tax hike that helped fund Medicare and Social Security. Yeah reagan was really not for socialized medicine til 1983 huh? What a phony blisted actor reagan was! My god people this loser was a gass up artist wake up! Look what policys he put through not these phony speeches!
He talks about this before he ever got into politics, when the AMA paid him to! Learn facts people! And by that I mean, don't take anything Glenn Beck ever says seriously.
Healthcare reform=slavery. Let's stand back from those healthcare high hour low wage slave jobs. The minorities never experienced slavery before but I believe they just voted for it.
There for what.... We should pick up the red flag of Socialism as our own? I think you should listen to Reagans arguement one more time. There is no perfect system and Socialism, in my opinion, is not the answer. As mentioned again, read the constitution. It is not the Federal Governments right to take action in this matter. The articles of the constitution and the 10th Amendment are very clear.
Former Presidents and their spouses, widows, and minor children are entitled to treatment in military hospitals. Former presidents and their dependants also have the option of enrolling in private health insurance plans at their own expense. (usgovinfo). It is that easy. Try reading the constitution it only takes about 1 hour to do. Much easier than these bills the house is passing.
Republicans are afraid of open debate but Pelosi isn't posting the bill online for 72 hours like she sais she would.....who's REALLY scared of open debate?
So you counter the fact that your party doesn't like open debate either by pointing to a party I don't particularly identify with while not detracting from the fact your party is just as full of douchebags as the republicans...way to go, give your ignorant self a hand...right to the face.
I figured with a screen name like "iluvincitingviolence" you were probably a Teabagging GOPer.
It's all relative, Einstein. More openness is always preferable but so far, the Obama administration has been more transparent than any previous administration.
By blocking White House visitor logs, delaying stimulus transperancy for almost a year, putting out videos by themselves with no public media involvement and boycotting one of the largest news organizations in the country. Really....what flavor Kool-Aid is in your cup?
Way to go, proving yourself a kool-aid drinker AND snorter by repeating the White House talking points word for word...sweet....I hope you get AIDS for christmas.
This video is a recording of corrupt Hollywood airhead Ronald Reagan opposing the enactment of Medicare. At the time Reagan was a paid shill for the AMA, just as he was for the tobacco companies. Ironically, Reagan spent the the last 35 years of his life receiving socialized medicine.
Wonder how many of today's Medicare recipients would agree with Reagan and like to see Medicare abolished. Not many, I'll wager.
Your president is an airhead paid for by unions, fraudulent organizations and, strange, the AMA (who supports his health care bill....wonder why) Expectedly, Reagan spent the last 35 years of his life on the plan offered to him by the government as part of the office and for his retirement. Not a good argument FOR this bill.....
Medicare is being cut by $500 billion in this bill...you think they want to see that, either?
Honestly, man, you don't have anything better to use?
Check your history. Ronald Reagan was on Medicare. The same program that Reagan pontificated against on this recording.
The changes to Medicare in the current bill are designed to eliminate the huge giveaways to the health insurance companies that are currently part of the Medicare plan written and passed by RepubliCons under Junior Bush.
Can't find ANYTHING that proves you right on Reagan being on Medicare....you can refuse it, you do know. And I researched it...presidents have the same health care benefits after they leave office as all other 'Federal retirees"....which is the same thing congress gets....so if you consider that "Medicare", maybe you need to look it up.
Democrats keep blocking add-ons requiring Congress to get on the same plan as the general public....what does that tell you? Do as I say, not as I do.
Where'd you do your research, Conservapedia? You're confusing the pension program for federal workers with Medicare. There are currently 155 members of Congress receiving Medicare benefits just as Reagan did.
The pension plans offered congress are the Federal Employee's Retirement System and the Civil Service Retirement System with healthcare provided by the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program....last I checked, none of those were Medicare, tard. What's with you and Medicare, anyway? We're talking about the nation, INCLUDING illegal immigrants being insured in a health system already near loaded to the hilt and the social repercussions it could have when "they" realize freedom raises costs...
Once a federal employee retires at or after ager 65, the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program becomes secondary payor to Medicare.
No matter how you try to twist it, whether you like it or not, Ronald Reagan spent the last 35 years of his life receiving the socialized medicine that he pontificated against for 35 years.
As I said, and the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program web site says, you have to ENROLL in Medicare, you don't just automatically get into it...so she me where you KNOW Reagan had enrolled into it....I'm waiting....being as if he didn't enroll, he was still covered by FEHB...
And if you believe that second part of your argument, have you even ATTEMPTED to read the bill that was passed...or are you just reciting Olbermann and Maddow?
One of the few truths that has stood the test of time is that if you want to trash anything beyond recognition is to let government get their hands on it.
The American model does not, and should not rest on the trust of our leaders, but on a careful structuring of government to control our leaders. J.F.K, when asked why he wanted to be president, he said " Because that's where the power is!" Even so, he remained constitutional. This new version of trumancare and hillarycare and obamacare MUST NOT PASS. This is the easiest way to gain control. Look into the future and find what they will want next! I am glad I still have freedom of speech.
Fantastic music & speech. The video could use more live action scenes instead of photos, but I'm just glad to be able hear this on demand. Reagan really showed his ability to foresee future problems with this speech. Most people will trade their freedom for security, especially if they are busy and their government is determined to ram it down their throats (like the current Congress is).
Drug Companies make medicine that requires life long usage in order to placate shareholders. Research and Development Data is hoarded by companies who compete against each other. Accountants use charts to approve or deny claims, which in a sense means they are "practicing" medicine. Making Decisions. Civilization requires Universal Health Care. Don't equate Socialism with somebody getting medical treatment. 50+yrs of that lie has to end. Medicine is Social, We all need the SAME things Equally
Ronald Reagan was wrong about National Health Care. What if technology will allow us to pull it off? What if we can create longer healthier Lifespans? What if? Have you considered this?
What if you are wrong and National Health Care spirals into a continuation of larger government and less freedom for the people. I choose to listen to our founder fathers who said BIG GOVERNMENT is bad GOVERNMENT.
What if, as you say, we create & implement this National Health Care system, w/ the technology and longer lifespans & then the administration (whichever administration) takes over another piece of our freedom? Do you or have you ever trust(ed) politicians to do as they say they are going to? We need health care reform-we don't need the government to run it. How many agencies that the government now administers are working fiscally sound & efficient like any private sector counterpart? NONE
Sorry, but our government have made too many failures in the past to be trusted. Besides, the dem's in power now don't care to keep people living longer anyways. The dems want to cap population growth through this bill. Why do you think they are all for abortions? Sorry, but as an open cinic I cannot support the idea of government getting something like this right the first time at this large of scale. Regardless, I don't want to pay for freeloaders and people who have poor health habbits.
@Foundingfatherfollow The US Military, Police Departments, Libraries, Medicare, Library of Congress, Zion National Park, Civil Rights, The Auto Industry in Detroit. Just a few off the top of my head.
@tedmusicandsongs Military well there is nothing to compeate against it really but I would be tempted to agree, Police? I am happy you think so I don't know enough about the Library of Congress or the Zion National Park, Civil rights I don't agree with you on the Auto industry is a JOKE so at least you sorta kinda named 1. ;)
@tedmusicandsongs In Europe we have compulsory national health care. It simply doesn't work and when you really need a doctor you have to pay after you already paid the 30% of your wage for the national health care. Stop it in any way you can. Socialism doesn't work. Socialism is just a way to keep people under control and for the government to get your money before you can choose where to spend it.
Perhaps if he could live his life over again, RR would indeed support National Health Care? The reason you don't is because your are brainwashed. When could another Human Being say, "let the Mexican die, instead of getting treatment" or "its okay that the Phamacuticals produce drugs that require you to be on the for "life" in order to work", or that Health Care is about Profit and "the Rich get better care because they can afford it." Medicine is about Healing, not Profit. Build a NEW System.
The Declaration of Independence states,"Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed". Only if Our rights are protected. WE SURROUND THEM. NEVER FORGET THAT WE ARE THEIR POWER.
I have been against goverment mandated health care like the one they are propossing and I proudly can say I did not voted for Obama. I need no more convincing his plans are evil, but this clip yesteday puts Reagan as a prophet, I have good mempries as a child and Reagan is one of them this man was gifted and truly unique, thanks for the clip.
A boy turned down for leukemia treatment because he didn’t report he had an preexisting acne problem is sickening. A woman who developed breast cancer being dropped (died) because she didn't report to her insurance co that she had a yeast infection is inexcusable. @martymcfett Like I said, their lines are longer because they allow EVERYONE in them. That’s no excuse to ignore millions of others to keep that line shorter.
littleladyinbigworld 2 months ago
@martymcfett You seem a respectable person & you REALLY earned my respect for being honest about not working (unable, not unwilling). But, like my husband, I have serious health issues & can’t even afford most of our meds. We can’t even go back to the doctor for a while. If you give up getting healthcare but still have your back problem, then you will get a nibble of what my family has been dealing with for many years now. We must sacrifice our health for our daughter's; not a reasonable choice.
littleladyinbigworld 2 months ago
@littleladyinbigworld Look. I feel very sorry for what you and your family must be going through. I see where you're coming from, but you must understand that corporations aren't evil. They are made up of people like you and me; they're not robots. When corporations are taxed too much, that's less money that not just CEO's make, but assembly line workers, their families, their healthcare, college educations, etc... Then, that company can't afford to keep employees, and is forced to lay them off.
martymcfett 2 months ago
I never meant to imply they were "evil". That's a strong word. There are good and bad in every category. I say Hitler was evil; now can you imagine the next Hitler with the personal funding of Bill Gates? At least with government we have a chance to pick and choose (even if it's between a turd and an idiot) rather than having NO say-so in who runs the show. But the 1% are often (in general) greedy, since capitalism itself is defined by the greediest being the most likely to succeed.
littleladyinbigworld 1 month ago
@littleladyinbigworld"Pick and choose the govt should pick and choose who might be a Hitler and who won't be."Hitler was in love with big govt.He picked and chose who lived and who died, much like abortion does todayFor Hitlerit was that Jews and other groups were inferior to him. In modern times,it's that babies who might be born into a shitty world might not live a good life,so we might as well deny them the chance to live any kind of life. You know deep down that's wrong.
martymcfett 1 month ago

Like a government, they must have some kind of harness or they go wild.
littleladyinbigworld 1 month ago
@littleladyinbigworld Ever heard of Target? K-Mart? Blue light deals? Fred Meyer? Pathmark? Foodtown? A&P? There're infact alternatives to Wal Mart. You don't like BP? Fill up at Mobil, or Shell. Why not Chevron or 76? Whatever ones are in your town. Unless you live in Eastern Montana, you definately have at least some of the above around you. But then if you live in E. Mont, you wouldn't have a Wal Mart around you either. So how exactly do they "control everything?''
martymcfett 1 month ago
@martymcfett They have found a loophole for boycotts. They simply have so many different places where they get their funds; boycotts don’t hold the same power as they had in the past. The power of We The People is fading fast. (Especially recently) governmental attempts at the removal of the 5th and 2nd amendments are obvious. If we stop officials from getting HUGE donations from CEO's, they would be more dependent on the People again and do what we want.
I look forward to your reply.
littleladyinbigworld 1 month ago

If you don't like Wal Mart, no one's forcing you to shop there.

littleladyinbigworld 1 year ago
@littleladyinbigworld Alright, let's set this straight once and for all. Listen, you might learn something. Jesus would want the most affordable healthcare possible available to human beings alike. In its purest form, the free market does just that. Supply and demand... ever heard of it? People do CHOOSE what healthcare works best for them based on two criteria: cheap and good. If govt didnt subsidize healthcare, as is the case now w/FDA cartel, companies that did overcharge would lose business.

ARepublicanVictory 4 months ago 2
@ARepublicYou DARE to talk about DEHUMANIZING while you refuse to allow people access to healthcare? You DARE to talk about protecting turf, control & monopolies while DEFENDING the insurance corporations that have dominated healthcare, turning it into a business in order to get even RICHER from our misfortune? How does allowing MORE people access to healthcare deciding who "lives & dies" but keeping it unobtainable to millions NOT? Are you serious? Would Jesus vote against Universal Healthcare?
littleladyinbigworld 3 months ago
@littleladyinbigworld Would Jesus trust earthly government, an institution that sentenced him to death on a cross, with managing people's healthcare? Or would Jesus stress that you and me, as individuals, give to the poor and vulnerable, and not have the state steal (8th Commandment) and give to whom they choose w/out our input. Charity works. The U.S. is still the most charitable nation in the world despite current leftist schemes being forced down our throats. True capitalism is charitable.

@martymcfett How can making poor people NOT pay for healthcare create MORE poverty? My family is in debt for no other reason than medical bills that can not be avoided. They’ll stimulate the economy only if they are able to buy stuff.

If you're pro-life, that should include after one is born.
littleladyinbigworld 2 months ago
@martymcfett It is a matter of humanity- not profit. We’re tired working hard yet being in pain- allowed to suffer for our economies sake. We are promised; Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Life is the most basic of those things. I just don't want to die so some strangers (with full healthcare) sitting in at corporate desks can add a few more bucks to their billions. We keep their taxes low in order to encourage them to spend their money, not so low that they can live on the interest.
littleladyinbigworld 2 months ago
@littleladyinbigworld WRONG! You and me are born with natural unalienable rights; governments don't provide them, they protect them. Some protect these rights more than others.
martymcfett 2 months ago
@martymcfett Banning abortion (whether it is federal government or local) is a priority for many republicans- maybe even most. So if one is pro-life, shouldn’t that include after the baby is born? Instead of not asking what my country can do for me... I think it should be mutually beneficial. The constitution is a pact. We provide a collected fund for our elected officials to spend (hopefully) to benefit the whole. As to how successful we are as an individual, that’s up to us.

AtlasShruggery 2 years ago
Your president is an airhead paid for by unions, fraudulent organizations and, strange, the AMA (who supports his health care bill....wonder why) Expectedly, Reagan spent the last 35 years of his life on the plan offered to him by the government as part of the office and for his retirement. Not a good argument FOR this bill.....
Medicare is being cut by $500 billion in this bill...you think they want to see that, either?
Honestly, man, you don't have anything better to use?
iluvincitingviolence 2 years ago
Check your history. Ronald Reagan was on Medicare. The same program that Reagan pontificated against on this recording.
The changes to Medicare in the current bill are designed to eliminate the huge giveaways to the health insurance companies that are currently part of the Medicare plan written and passed by RepubliCons under Junior Bush.
AtlasShruggery 2 years ago
Can't find ANYTHING that proves you right on Reagan being on Medicare....you can refuse it, you do know. And I researched it...presidents have the same health care benefits after they leave office as all other 'Federal retirees"....which is the same thing congress gets....so if you consider that "Medicare", maybe you need to look it up.
Democrats keep blocking add-ons requiring Congress to get on the same plan as the general public....what does that tell you? Do as I say, not as I do.
iluvincitingviolence 2 years ago
Where'd you do your research, Conservapedia? You're confusing the pension program for federal workers with Medicare. There are currently 155 members of Congress receiving Medicare benefits just as Reagan did.
AtlasShruggery 2 years ago
The pension plans offered congress are the Federal Employee's Retirement System and the Civil Service Retirement System with healthcare provided by the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program....last I checked, none of those were Medicare, tard. What's with you and Medicare, anyway? We're talking about the nation, INCLUDING illegal immigrants being insured in a health system already near loaded to the hilt and the social repercussions it could have when "they" realize freedom raises costs...
iluvincitingviolence 2 years ago
Maybe you need to check a little more, tard.
AtlasShruggery 2 years ago
As I said, and the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program web site says, you have to ENROLL in Medicare, you don't just automatically get into it...so she me where you KNOW Reagan had enrolled into it....I'm waiting....being as if he didn't enroll, he was still covered by FEHB...

Like government won't get into the business to not make profit. Sorry, but the only person that is brainwashed is you.

Hey Catman and the rest of you fellow Humans...
What if...
just what if...
Ronald Reagan was wrong about National Health Care. What if technology will allow us to pull it off? What if we can create longer healthier Lifespans? What if? Have you considered this?
tedmusicandsongs 2 years ago

@tedmusicandsongs At what point has the government created health and better services??? How blind can you get man.. ;(

@tedmusicandsongs What if you told me one thing that the government got involved in and it helped a good deal and made it 10 times better? anything?
Foundingfatherfollow 1 year ago
@Foundingfatherfollow The US Military, Police Departments, Libraries, Medicare, Library of Congress, Zion National Park, Civil Rights, The Auto Industry in Detroit. Just a few off the top of my head.
tedmusicandsongs 1 year ago

What bothers me is the socialists attempt to spin it as "no new taxes".
The GAO says it WILL cost more.
