  • The music in this video is hilarious and awesome. Good job dude. I love yerba. I switched to a glass mate though cause I had a hard time keeping my gourd from adding flavor to the yerba.

  • nice gourd :)

  • I used to drink mate with my Nonno every morning when I was a really young girl. Loved it.

  • Nothing better than mate and a cuban cigar.

Mate tea costs around 2 dollars for a small bag (probably around 200 grams). My cup is about the same size as yours, so it takes nearly the whole bag to fill it up halfway. It's ok if you pour water over again for like 10 times drinking with friends, but drinking a cup or two in the morning and throwing it away can get quite costly. As far as I am concerned, you are drinking the tea on a trip, so what do you do with the used tea after drinking it?

  • @beholderlt you should look for cheaper yerbas, there are much cheaper ones than the one you say. If you dont find, you can use the yerba until it looses the flavor, and if you want to reuse it, just dont, its kind of disgusting... hope you find a cheeper one!

  • @beholderlt

You can find it much much cheaper online. You are over paying for your mate.

  • @beholderlt Hey, late but hope it helps, if you can't get yerba mate cheaper then you can use the same even if it's already used, but if you're going to use after a whole day then you should dry it by letting it at the sun light or something so it doesn't rot :D

Of couse it won't taste as good as if it where new yerba, but it's good enough

  • What does this taste like?

  • @draven235 why can't everyone do it their own way? Not everyone is a follower like you apparently....

  • Good video, and the music wasn't creepy, fuck that guy!

  • @pancho133 WRONG, its a mistake. MATE is originary of THE PARAGUAY, of the GUARANIES indians and of the missions. Do you know the MENSU?? Originary of the antique PARAQUARIA, Argentina not existed 400 years ago, PARAGUAY is the FATHER of the Argentina and of the pioners argentinians. ILEX PARAGUAYENSIS=MATE. Sorry man, I demand more respect for the truth. Paraguay, braves guarani peoples land...

  • @BurlFish79 you are almost right, BUT the mate is originary of the whole area, including paraguay, south of brazil, uruguay and north east of argentina, and 400 hundred years ago neither paraguay or argentina existed, it was all the Virreinate del Peru, wich later on it divided into others, and argentina and paraguay belong to the Virreinato del Rio de la Plata.

  • @larvatrong Virreinato del Rio de La Plata, born 1776, death 1810, only 34y! In 1776 borned USA!, and here the colony mounted an obsolete system! Paraguay existed before conquerors, is "the land without evil", ancient territory of guarani tribes. Argentina isn't reference, is an invention of plutocracy of Buenos Aires of 1816. NEVER the Paraguay was a territory of "Argentina", more of actual Argentina was territory of the big and antique Paraguay, with spaniard government over the Asuncion City

  • English: View as is prepared and packaged yerba mate ....

  • Nice video, I've been drinking it for 5 years and have never heard about the Theobromine you mentioned. I always wondered why I felt my mood kind of elevate after I drank it. Thanks for the info.

  • @ furkilele Sure you can it's just the traditional way of drinking it. You have to have bombilla though.

  • in our city i could not find this calabaza-cups.can i drink the mate tea out of normal glas-cups??

    will it taste other???

  • i just tried yerba for the first time

i put sugar and milk in though

    it tasted good

  • the bombilla was wrong, he put it upside down, it must be put to the other side. And first the cold water, then put the bombilla (to the other side) and then hot water.

Important that water must be not boiled and not boiling, must be 70-80 ºC.

  • Great video

  • lol first time i made it without instructions i was standing there sifting the yerba mate to get all the little bits out i worked but i see this way is easier

  • My yerba mate tastes like oil paint and cigarettes........this can't be right?

  • It's not, you should drink organic shade grown mate. You have no idea what kind of oils could find their way into commercial product. be safe

  • @jeiser73 Sounds about right, haha jk. It can be really strong at times though and I've had it taste like an ash tray. My favorite brand is rosamonte - from Argentina. It's a little more mild.

  • Great video, the music is awesome, where is it from?

  • @HallwaysOfAlways I dig this music too - anyone know what it is?

  • the best yerba mate is from Paraguay ,in fact the name of the plant is illex paraguariensis try some brands like campesino ,pajarito, kurupi

  • Just got my kit in the mail - can't wait to try it - nice video thanks

  • Where can you get this in the US?

  • i get mine at sprouts farmers market

  • Got mine on e-bay, 25 dollars for everything

  • brazilian yerba mate is different, not better... they use "new" yerba mate, argentinian and paraguayan yerba mate goes thru a process os stationed of 2 years or more and the its consumed.

  • Great video! Gotta love the yerba mate!

  • Rio Grande do Sul era territorio uruguaio ate meados do seculo XIX.

RGS was uruguayan territory 'till XIX century 1st half, Thats from guarany etnia( Uruguay, Paraguay, South Brazil and Agentina).

That was drinked oon the land's paradise created for the franciscans monks and guarany tribes together, that was called "Los siete pueblos de las misiones"(the seven towns of missiones).

  • Thats from Rio Grande do Sul

    My Land

State of Brazil who gonna be Independent

  • Thanks for super lesson.

  • where can i get the pot and the straw???

i love mate but its boring do drink it withoout these accessoirs

  • have you tried on the internet? or come here to the south and we'll give you one with pleasure :)

  • Whats the cool water for??

  • the cool water protects the leaf which yields a smoother brew. if you add real hot water directly, it can taste a bit "burned".

  • Having been a mate drinker since childhood, I can tell you that the stems should be on the bottom of the gourd, not the top. You should shake the mate while upside down only. The stems on the bottom keep the bombilla from getting clogged. That is the point of shaking it. (Get rid of the creepy music and it will be a little more credible.)

  • Hi, Yes the stems are shown to be on the bottom of the gourd, as you say they help the filtration action. Perhaps it is not a clear as it could be. I'll have to redo it again someday with different music as well. thanks for the feedback.

  • Very well done. The music makes it flow well!
