.....A year on an this is still simply the best song I have ever heard. In my search for an equivalent this year, trailing through The Beatles, Stevie Wonder..right through to the Cardigans, Bowie back to Bing Crosby, Bob Marley too.......Frank Sinatra and Carole King.
This song that you are listening to stands alone. This song is remarkable.
insanely good tune, what am I gonna do? listen to the end and hope that hey baby by anthony white (next o0n my faves) will be enough to get over this awesorm-ness
The best soul song ever recorded...period! Wonder what would have developed if producer Jerry Ragevoy had endeavoured to record an albums worth of material with this criminally under recorded vocal talent. Now there's a thought to savour! Would be fascinating to get the real lowdown on both this and Lou Courtney's classic Ragavoy produced 'I'm In Need of Love' set, which incidentally feature's Carl on backing vocals.
One of the great underrated Soul voices of all time - a kind of "male" Linda Jones", with vocals so soulful they HURT. Incredible talent. (If anyone reading this knows the guy, tell him I said so!) :-)
Very underrated artist...according to a radio interview I heard with Howard Tate, he, Carl and Lou Courtney came over to CBS in a package deal that Jerry Ragovoy set up.
This is mindblowing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!kinda reminds me of Marvins 'Whats going on' but with a lot more kick - well done for posting it- wish i could get my hands on this gem!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Gerisoul- I am on a mission to get this cd - this track is the epitome of soul! I first heard this track on Richard Searling's Soul Sauce many many many moons ago and taped it on a C45(and have since guarded with my life) !!!!! it has always hit that raw nerve - well done again for posting this gem!!!!
Searling didnt like to be reminded that this was played at Blackpool Mecca by Colin Curtis : hence the infamous incident at Parkers in 91 when a few of the old Mecca boys put him right over this !!!!
very hard to get on 45 - available on a sony release 33 - soul souvenirs volume 2 - a great compilation including heywood cash you're messing up a good thing. need i say more.
.. Wow .. heard this Q for QUALITY CHOON played with excess wattage at Soul Heaven in Basingstoke last Sept 08 .. DJ LORNE dropped it .. the crowd went crazy man ... cracking nite out ... Wicked post Gerisoul .. Thanks

Jerry Ragovoy producedsome great music. Much rawer than Phil Spector. This mans material is so hard to find. Why?
Try Garnett Miimms if you like soul as well. Another man with a terrific voice but avoid the new cd,
I thought that as it was gospel it would be terrific. How wrong I was. He needs Jerry Ragovoy, as the songs just stink
