i think that in christianity, even with the violent verses today, there are no specific instruction to kill someone literally and gain something in return. Some Christians priests ( catholic church) condemn homosexuality for example but do not urge anyone to go and stone them, kill them in the bible or in person.
Islam on the other hand has sharia law that allows stoning, amputation for things they consider crimes like getting pregnant out of wedlock, getting raped

if there are muslims who take 'jihad' as a personal struggle, that's great.
but that's not what it says in the Quran. Quran explicitly tells muslims to convert non-muslims or treat them as second-class citizens. it explicitly tells muslims to make the whole world islamic. and that's the 'jihad' prescribed by the Quran.
and if more and more muslims follow the holy book version instead of their personal version, they are just being religious, they are not extreme themselves, it's the religion

in the quran, there are directions to ignore the former earlier non-violent verses and take the later, more violent verses. so muslims who take the violent verses are just following the directions in the Quran. that's why peaceful muslims like Dr. Zhudi Jasser who wants to revolutionize Quran, make it less violent are not accepted by majority of muslims because of those directions in the quran.

i think that in christianity, even with the violent verses today, there are no specific instruction to kill someone literally and gain something in return. Some Christians priests ( catholic church) condemn homosexuality for example but do not urge anyone to go and stone them, kill them in the bible or in person.
Islam on the other hand has sharia law that allows stoning, amputation for things they consider crimes like getting pregnant out of wedlock, getting raped

jihad is third most sacred deed after believing in Allah and Prophet Mohammed. since all muslims believe in the first two, jihad is the third tenet. and i think whether a muslim is violent or not, depends on her/ her take on the definition of jihad.
