@VredesStal Good question, It usually takes anywhere from 6 to 12 hours for a chest burster to errupt from a host( depending on how healthy the host is, more healthier = faster birth cause the embyro devolps faster ) but for a queen chest burster it can take anywhere over 24 hours due to it being a queen it takes longer to devolp and grow. The egg is laid into the bottom of the throat which then hatches to a tiny embryo. The Embryo moves down into the hosts chest area and begins growing from the hosts nutirents and DNA. When the embryo begins growing the facehugger detaches and dies. Hours later the embryo is now a chestbuster and bam! In the AvP films the aliens were born super fast due to the predators speeding up there gestation(growing) cycle so they could begin the hunt. hope that helped :)
