  • RIP jimmy.

  • Such a beautiful song if anyone ever felt this way sing along i feel ur pain.

  • Such an amazing song that had such a great impact on my formative years. Perhaps the deepest and most melodic song on the Siamese Dream album. Reminds me of the days I ran the halls of the old Mount Vernon (Ohio) Middle School.

  • Best SP song

  • this song was a huge part of my adolescence - still is my favourite song of all time..

  • This song, along with the book The Catcher in the Rye, will always represent teen and youth, forever.

  • @davidmjeong926 im reading the book, but havent finished it. can you tell me what the song has to do with the book? :)

  • @lilmonster4evr Well they are not really related as to the contents, but I just feel that both represent the sentiments of teens very well.

  • @lilmonster4evr The books very good, isn't it? Well both the books and this song could represent the mind of a teenager, or anyone of a disposition similar to Holden's.

  • @Uzzie101 idk its pretty gud since it can relate to teens

  • love this song.

  • This makes my heart hurt. And I was only like six years old when it came out...

  • I think four people must have accidently hit the "dislike" button by mistake!!

The best stall ever! And all in all awe inspiring song.

  • This song is nostalgia incarnate. Such a powerful work of art. . .

  • Damn I miss 99.1 WHFS!

  • Prime song of the 90's, the best era of music. Un-fucking-believable. Smashing Pumpkins didn't realize that they struck pure gold with this song.

  • So glad I live in the chi and got to see them before the made it ( before gish)and after.

  • one of my favorite solos

  • I'm very thankful this song does not have a video.

  • @311montoya I agree, how could a video translate the awesomeness, for lack of a better word, of this song. However, in my opinion 1979 has a fucking great video.

  • sad this isn't added on their greatest hits.

  • @jpbaloga wow. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not a collector of greatest hits compilations and I guess that's the reason why. They're never geared toward the true fans of the band. Good call, this is definitely one of the Pumpkins greatest tunes.

  • so beautiful

  • so beautifull

  • this reminds me of my life back then :(

    it makes cry :'(

  • i have this overwhelmingly depressing feeling cuz i know these amazingly beautiful days of smashing pumpkins are over. this album will live on forever

  • this song is like.. the mayo in my tuna sandwich.. it binds the two breads together and cheese to create one super sub!

  • This was one of the bands I listened to in High School, and still go back to all the time..... It was the shit then, and STILL IS!!! All time favorite song though.

  • miracle whip.

  • one of the most underrated songs of our generation....High School all over again...

  • seriously nostalgic, sounds like being 15

  • if you weren't in high school when this song was written, then you wouldn't understand it... music will never be this real again. ever.

  • @SystemVoid i wasnt in high school when this song was written but i understand it. Mainstream music will probably never be this real again, but have a little more faith in music all together. Theres musicians out there who are making music with this kinda emotional depth, there just not house hold names like the pumpkins, u really have to get out and look hard to find them. No disrespect by the way, i can definately see where your comin from.

  • @SystemVoid I was still a little kid when this was written and I love this song. It's unwelcoming and unaccepting morons like you that make me wander did any of you ever understand what The Smashing Pumpkins were and are about?

  • @SystemVoid Fuck You, if anything the void created by the mid to late 2000's for music this honest (outside of "All the go inbetweens") makes this worth so much more to us. Sorry you see this as dinosaur vs. youth. If anything your generation kinda fucked mine over with your shitty music after stuff like this came out. I don't blame my fellow teenagers, I blame the 20 to 30somethings that were born in the 80s and were teenagers in the 90s. You failed us.

  • @halifuckinfan No, they're just DJs...Don't hate the kids for having different taste than you...Rock music is still awesome but you have to look at folks like the Black Lips or Ty Segall..it's not as popular as it was in the 90s, plus Hip Hop gets a lot more airplay too...

  • This song opens a mental album of memories from as far back as I can remember. If your someone who doesn't have an album of memories.......today is a good day to start a fresh roll of film.

  • tears

  • THE BEST SONG EVER!

  • This song makes me think of my friends, my parents, myself, my impossible love... the madness and chaos of youth reflected in such a beautiful song... i think im gonna cry, because this song reminds me that im in the best years of my life, but then i go out and i feel like shit, somehow i still know its true

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth dude! amen to that!

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth

    Ain't music cool?

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth Have you considered therapy? Maudlin adolescent self pity is treatable, you know? Good luck.

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth i could not have said this any better if i tried, i have the same feeling about this song thank you!!

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth Dude, I know right?

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth wow....well said. I'm 32 now and this song was a huge part of my youth...strangely, I still know exactly what you're talking about.....I couldn't have put it better myself...

  • Soothes and mends a broken heart, a great remedy for healing the Corazon.

  • This is my favourite smashing's song... I love it :)

  • MAKE A HEART WITH YOUR HANDS

    2.THINK OF YOUR CRUSH

3.KISS THE HOLE IN YOUR FAKE HEART

4.PUT YOUR FAKE HEART ON YOUR REAL HEART

5.POST THIS TO YOUR FAVORITE SONG

6.TOMORROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE

  • yes.

  • what do you mean? haha

  • When i get a band started, i want to be able to sound like this and blow the roof off in inspiration and power.

  • There is so much power to this song it you can't describe it. It's one of those song in the backround of a movie that someone old is looking through a picturebook and sees old faces, friends that would be strangers, family that you've lost and haven't seen again. the times where memories lasted, the times where you have felt weightless and you can't pick yourself up because you're so head over heels you can't think. It's sad because you miss it, but makes you happy because those were the great

  • @grungeboy34 ahh thats beautiful! :')

    u have some immigration! x

  • one of the best songs off all time

  • makes me feel kind of weak inside. i am in love any way.

  • deserving

  • fly in relax

  • @ 1:45 always gets me. "Try to ease the pain. but somehow I'm still the same" Can't explain why, but that part always speaks to me.

  • When I say did his own thing I mean went an ate and played on his computer dork!!

  • I remember the first time I heard this I was at my boyfriends house passed out drunk and he put this on and did his own thing while I lay there and feel this remarkable masterpiece.

  • @spiritcrusher080193 That sounds like rape. Just saying.

  • @RedxFaction lol

  • @RedxFaction

    It certainly does...

  • just got the album for christmas EPIC WIN!!! <3

  • will always be my #!

  • how did today's music become so bad when songs like this was already achieved in the 90s?

  • Best song ever

  • saw them live last night. badass

  • This is my favorite pumpkins song

  • i like how on every song on youtube the highest rated comment always says how its the greatest song ever made

  • 90's was the absolute best time for all types of music.

  • Only a song named Mayonaise (incorrectly spelled as well) could come from a band named Smashing Pumpkins haha. Don't get me wrong though, I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. There's also a live vid from "Siamese Dream Era" is what he calls it, Billy performs it amazingly...

  • billy need to make more guitar driven stuff like mayonaise

  • @deengew I find it depressing that they will never go back to this sound.

  • @NoRulesInNam That's funny because Staler and Me Bell both sound like a song that would have fit perfectly with the whole Siamese Dream sound.

  • @NoRulesInNam

Yeah these guys had such a good thing going. Not sure why they changed their saound so much after this.

  • @cmorris975 It isn't such a bad thing really, I love how on their greatest hits album you can be listening to a song like disarm and the next thing you know you hear The everlasting gaze...it is like they have a song for every mood that you are in lol

  • @NoRulesInNam

Yeah these guys had such a good thing going. Not sure why they changed their sound so much after this.

  • run away with me tomorrow!!!

  • A masterpiece indeed...

  • i want to start a band i need people to add me and and like my page on facebook hopfully i wanna be like smashing pumpkins

  • But i think it's a shame that all the good bands had their time when i wasnt even born or only a little child, this song, for example, was released in the year when i was born. but i love, love, love this band sooo much. ♥

  • OMG. ♥ I could listen to this FOREVER!! :) ♥

  • Man this brings back so many memories. That "endless summer" feeling, feeling of being free as a kid. No school. Hanging with your friends late into the night. First loves. Sat on the roof of my car late at night and had my first kiss to this song. Man good good times....

  • @atmunney22 That comment almost brought me to tears man. Well put.

  • great solo how billy think this up

  • One of my favourite song ever.

  • Sucks that Billy Corgan turned into such a douchebag primadonna. This old stuff makes me smile listening to it, even if he's the way he is now.

  • IF the day ever comes that I decide to kill myself, this will definately be the song I play when I do it.

  • @fullclip16117 why the fuck would u ever decide to kill yourself u idiot.

  • @xPOWELLDRUMMERx calling him an idiot doesnt help. u never n0 he may have a good reason. weather he does or not dont judge him because u dont no him or wats going on with him

  • @madmanswhispers well u should nvr have a reason to kill urself at all. ur a weak person if u kill urself

  • @fullclip16117 Do it. Just remember: deep vertical cuts, not pansy horizontal slices.

  • @xXSilentHillerXx Wow, I didn't all of the negative responses my comment generated, lol. I thought it was pretty clear that I was being sarcastic, and I thought that it was even more fitting that its a depressing sounding song. That said, cutting wouldn't be the way I go, if anything I'd go out suicide by cop, rob a bank or something then pull a canon when the cops show up and go out in a hail of bullets, or something epic like that, lol. Kidding, of course for those who are too dumb..

  • @fullclip16117 Yeah, I simply like to egg on with my own form of sarcasm at times. Going out in a hail of bullets during a botched bank job would be pretty gnarly, though. Haha!

  • massa essa musicaaa

    \o/

  • amazing song

  • Everytime I hear songs from this album it brings me right back to the time I was with my first love........ We would listen to this album all the time together , it was his favorite and when we broke up for the first time all I did was listen to this album all the time and cry... These songs bring alot of raw emotion right back as if it didn't happen 14yrs ago.... How powerful music is!

  • sigh I miss the 90s/smashing pumpkins

  • why write such a great song... and name it mayonaise :P just sayin. then again i wasnt there when he named it, nor do i have access to his thoughts

  • Lovely song, really lovely, funny I love mayonnaise, but now i add ketchup in my plate cause i love tomatoes and pumpkins !!! xxx Flo xxx

  • This song literally brings me to tears. The emotion in Billy's voice is just amazing.

  • This song reminds me of being in high school...i loved them so much back then..

  • GREAT FLIPPPING !!!

Damn, you must have some really smooth nuts.

  • @onyachamp Does the right one look like Moby?

  • @TheSovietSteel hmmmmm..nahh,more like telly savalas

  • one of my favorite cd's of all time. takes me back.

  • when i runaway in 1994, this song keeps me company. thanks billy corgan!!!

  • One Justin Bieber fan gave this video a thumbs down. I say we find him and cut his thumb off. ~_^

  • one of the best songs ever written <3

  • What a band! what a song! ... gosh miss 90's !

  • No your not crazy, this is just 1 of those songs. ^_^

  • amazing, beautiful, it's an eargasm for sure.

  • watching from afar......

  • I always feel it !!

  • That's why the 90's rules! \m/

  • i'm 23 and almost all my favourate music is from 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. When I'm older my kids are going to think I'm so wierd, listening to rock music from 80 years ago

  • shit... im 13 and sometimes it feels like no one likes the same music as me. it fucking sucks. all sp's old stuff is amazing.. this is definitley one of my favorite songs ever. im really into 90s alt rock nd explosions in the sky is fucking great whoever mentioned them. im also into some screamo and death metal but yeah. no one likes the same music. and it sucks for them.

  • @CJ7575

Good to see someone of your age with at least a little sense of what is good music. To me, good music died with the new millennium. Late 80's and early to mid 90's were the pinnacle of music, especially in American music. Other parts of the world are still making good music that isn't the same mash of whiny emo, artsy sounding bullshit like what comes out of the US today.

  • @CJ7575 haha same im 13 and noone my age listens to the music i listen too....Sucks to be them ;)

  • @CJ7575 same thing happened here..i keep rocking 90's on in my playlist & others didn't understand,,then i think : so what? just shut your mouth and listen justin bieber's song at your room. just do your 90's brother! Hope this era will be back....

  • Right now, I can't think of an intro as beautiful as this one... And at 3:36... No words to describe how ridiculously beautiful that part is.

  • 1:46 to 2:12 awesome...

    the best SP song ever!!

  • 17 years later, this song still rocks

  • James Iha did this intro, it took a long time to do and it had to be heavily edited, be it because of James' skill or his guitar that wasn't intonation right, or etc. It was one of the few things James Iha did on the record. Billy recorded most of the guitar and bass on this album. Supposedly James and D'arcy weren't "prepared", but it must suck to be in a band, finally on a major label, and not get to play on a record, or told you're not good enough. Billy is a dick for the shit he pulled.

  • awww memories of my first love, when life was easily and love was simple are all wrapped up in every lyric of this song!! thanks for the memories....love me some pumpkins!

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • All the reasons to love (or hate) Billy Corgan and Smashing Pumpkins are right here. I love this song.

  • this is prob. the 40th time ive listened to this song just today.... fuck. i love this song.

  • the pumpkins have to be like in the top 5 alternative rock bands to ever walk the earth. thanks guys!

  • greetings from serbia

  • Possibly the greatest song ever written. DEFINITELY the greatest song of the '90s. This is mind-blowing, absolute, no-holds-barred music at its very best. There is not a song on this side of the millennium that even COMES CLOSE to this. Epic, magnum opus, piece de resistance, and every other word for "masterpiece" you can think of. Billy Corgan, thank you, sir, for producing arguably the greatest piece of music ever composed.

  • @danokkkrock If that's really your favorite song, then you should thank James.

He wrote the entire intro by himself.

  • @danokkkrock Greatest song ever written? Calm down there dude, it's above average at best. 'Today' is like 100 times better than this song...

  • @danokkkrock

while I agree this is an amazing song, to say that no song in this side of the millennium comes close...is a complete exaggeration. Listen to more music and be amazed. 1 band: Explosions in the sky.

  • @danokkkrock

    Calm the fuck down!

  • @danokkkrock agree <3

  • @danokkkrock

Every word is true.......but the whole album is the best piece of plastic ever released. perfect in the beginning middle and end. I have to admit I didn´t like them when I was young, but since ten years.....I could´t find an album which comes even close to this masterpiece......somtetimes I cannot believe it was really written so early ......Genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • After the first album Gish, the frontman Billy Corgan felt "this great pressure to make the next album set the world on fire." .......................and he did.............my heart is one fire, still ...even after seveteen years! Masterpiece

  • @danokkkrock I totally agree Pumpkins are so underrated one of the best of the Entire decade without a doubt!!
