@Explosiveelm Th1rt3en has some really fast and heavy moments, some of the most intense in their catelogue(ie the outro to New World Order, Sudden Death or the instrumental break in Deadly Nightshade). Easily heavier than anything on Countdown or Youth. Whether or not it's "as good" I think would be a fairer argument.

The new one sounds a little more polished, pretty much like Black Swan or Sudden Death, but the one that really got a major revamp was Millennium of the Blind. It's finally a song rather then a demo!
I gotta say, I like this version better than the new one. Honestly, what first attracted me to Megadeth was how utterly raw they were. The first album I heard by them was the original SFSGSW, which is ridiculously raw and unpolished. The newer albums are certainly good, but they just don't pack that same punch that their less polished albums do.

Everyone likes to stick their own little pigeonholes. Their loss. However it particularly irks me when metalheads, who often act like their music is misunderstood and nobody appreciates it, hypocritically refuse to listen to anything non-metal, or use the idea of something being less metal, or even less thrashy or less brutal, as a criticism.

I was born in 80 so from the time I was seven to the age of sixteen, Metallica was my favorite band. The black album was a letdown to me but I still had faith till load came out, and the reload. I really didnt like them but have since came to accept some of the songs, as there alright songs just not what I like from them and anything after that really dont like.

The new one sounds a little more polished, pretty much like Black Swan or Sudden Death, but the one that really got a major revamp was Millennium of the Blind. It's finally a song rather then a demo!

I gotta say, I like this version better than the new one. Honestly, what first attracted me to Megadeth was how utterly raw they were. The first album I heard by them was the original SFSGSW, which is ridiculously raw and unpolished. The newer albums are certainly good, but they just don't pack that same punch that their less polished albums do.

@Horatio IKR, I used to be a lot like this, all the while being an 'old Metallica' fanboi. When I actually took the time to listen to their 'sell-out' albums, I actually liked them a lot.
As a close-minded metal fan, you dislike the blues-ish Metallica. As a music fan, you like it as much as you did with the first albums. It was a breath or fresh air too really. I think I wouldn't be AS excited to hear them ripping on the same patterns with James shouting about death for 30 years.

It was still, ranging from BA to RL - heavy metal - heavy blues - hard rock. Not really the most popular stuff.
So, yeah. If exploring into a less aggressive genre is selling out, then they did. They still made good music of THAT genre. Treated like heavy metal, OF COURSE L/RL suck.

@austin2460 If you jump from Master of Puppets straight to Reload then to Death Magnetic, then yeah it's a damn backflip. But the change was gradual over the years. They explored. Justice differed a lot from the previous albums. Black Album was different from Justice, and then L/RL were different from the Black Album. Then St. Anger took a turn to another direction, and it seems they're finishing the loop with Death Magnetic. Some like the explorations, some don't. Can't appeal to all ^^ Peace

Those x4 and x5 Platinums are nothing compared to the x15 Black Album and x9 ...And Justice ForAll, both of which happened to get excellent scores. Load and ReLoad may have been different, but they were still bad. The Black Album was different, but it was still good.

I was born in 80 so from the time I was seven to the age of sixteen, Metallica was my favorite band. The black album was a letdown to me but I still had faith till load came out, and the reload. I really didnt like them but have since came to accept some of the songs, as there alright songs just not what I like from them and anything after that really dont like.
