    Domo arigatou gozaimasu.

  • The world's most beautiful man and the world's most beautiful woman on the same stage at the same time - what are the odds?

  • Unbeliveable!

  • Thank you very much for this.

  • isn't anybody wandering now why D.S. dislikes some things about his japan era?

Sometimes it is not difficult to see...

  • your god bless mick

  • Wow, a great moment in history captured. This is priceless! Mick RIP!!

  • it very be sure, I was there!! that was first and last to see Mick. RIP

  • RIP Mick

  • What was the deal with the dancing panda? I guess the kitchen sink was unavailable. Interesting stage presence, a very large group.

  • What was the deal with the dancing panda? I guess the kitchen sink was unavailable.

  • Just watched this again --so much is happening on stage where to look! -its hilarious -very sad but joyful at the same time. Prayers for Mick.

  • this is incredible....there is a panda on stage.....great

  • Extraordinary!! I love the girls screaming "Daaaaviiiid!!" Thank you for posting this!

  • amazing hype - i wonder what became of those uninhibited teenage Nagoyans that attended this concert.

  • Japan were never underrated, record sales has nothing to do with talent, look at the shite around now selling in millions

  • This is so remarkably special to find. Thank you.

  • This is such a fantastic piece of history.

Just watched it in sequence with Small Metal Gods...

Remarkable how much distance is covered in almost 30 years.

  • Wish I would have been there, thanks for posting!!

  • imagine if they would have recorded a new album after this and didnt split-up they would have been as big as duran and spandau,,,,,,they were just about to explode,,,,,,,,,,so sad

  • oh my god...the panda bear!! :-D

  • I was at the final UK gig at the Hammersmith Apollo and witnessed similar scenes to this ...... Seems a very long time ago now!!

  • Sylvian is his own biggest critic the stuff he did with Japan was a learning period and he has moved on the stuff he did with Japan in my eyes was brilliant but i do think he has progressed. I saw Japans second from last concert in Hong Kong broke my heart to hear they were packing it in. Japan David thanks for the music

  • Despite the quality, this is incredible. Japan with Masami Tsuchiya and Sandii. They seem very celebratory. I was only 2 when this happened, so it's really amazing to get a chance to see something like this.

  • Whooo ha GREAT! Masami Tsuchiya COME ON!!

    Miss does guys TOGEHTER!!

  • OMG - never seen these videos before - rather shot to pieces the view i had of the band - never realised they had a sense of humour - just thought they were serious and slightly moody musicians. Still i love their music and listen to Japan most weeks for the last 20+ years. BEST band ever IMHO. Saw them live in Brighton doing Ghosts etc... Loved them so much..... & Sandii & The Sunsetz! Which i'd got into them earlier on....

  • Fucking great....

  • oh goodness this makes me feel old as I was there! Not screaming...

  • do you have any more videos from their last concert?!

  • ive got the full concert which cost a fortune on e-bay,,but its poor quality,,,,shame

  • is it about the same quality as this?

  • @battlekat23

    yes mate the same as

  • @mrcolinraycyrus surprised nobody has shared this online, too bad a bootleg like this is being sold on ebay

  • @battlekat23

ill put it on you tube no probs,,,,,,,how do u do it as ive never put anything on here before,,,it runs for about a hour or so

  • Amazing video. Wow. This is how Japan ended together. Wonderful. Thanks for posting.

  • Sylvian's dismissal of the track, and the JAPAN back catalogue is a defence mechanism, if HE hates it, you cant hurt him by criticising it!! I am CERTAIN he only wishes he had mixed the original better, or made more of an effort on the lyrics - Moroder (the producer) said that Sylvian LED the recording sessions and he found it refreshing not to be working with an air-headed musician!! David WE SALUTE YOU!!!

  • I wish he wasn't so harsh on everything he did with Japan. Do your solo thing but respect your past as to where its led you at least I'd say.

  • 1981年、名古屋市公会堂ですね。姉が観に行ってて懐かしそうにしてます。

  • Who cares about the quality of the video, it's just awesome to see. Thank you. I know this track has always been a thorn in sylvians side, but i love it.

  • I would pay a grand to go back in time and watch that gig...

  • rob dean left after the hansa recordings , and then did studio work on the virgin owned gtp album.

  • he plays on GTP, he left like mid 1981 I think?

  • For all us Japan/Sylvian/Karn/Jansen/Barbieri fans - this is of immense historical value!!! End of an era, quite emotional really.. One wonders what might have happened had they chosen to stay together? And yet this meant the start of their respecitve incredible solo careers. Anyway, cracking performance of this great party song. What a way to finish! Doesn't matter that the quality is poor - this is pure feeling. Many, many thanks for posting!!!!

  • what about Rob Dean?!

  • Of course, you're right - he is often unfairly forgotten....

  • I laugh at the girl in the 'background' who keeps saying "Daaaaavid"

  • よくデヴィッドは我慢したな・・・

  • Totally agree, mate!

  • cracking mate thanks!!

  • What a precious video you've posted!! Thank you so much!!!

  • The Panda was brilliant!

  • I like that dancing panda. anybody know who is in that? significant video I had been unable to see long long time.thanks moodyb.

  • Nice header from David at 32 secs.

  • I'd love to see some more of their final concert.

  • holy crud just discovered this by accident, what time we live in. I was just getting into them as they were splitting up. Found out later, they'd played my home town two nights in a row. Always a great regret I never got to see them play live, the most underrated band of all-time.

  • Wow! This is just so awesome to see! The greatest band of all time!

  • really fantastic bit of film, something that you would think

one would never get to see.

they sound better and better as the years go.

    anymore of this footage???

  • Thank you so much for posting this!

    They are awesome and forever!

  • Never had the opportunity to see them live in concert to young wish I had, years later fond memories of being in the back of a taxi in Tokyo pissed singing "Life In Tokyo"..Oooh live out your fantasies!..Peace & Love Derby O Gillxx

  • just revisiting this again. well done mate. superb.

  • 知らんかった!すげえ明るいライブ!これは貴重!!

  • It's very impressive that this has been posted. I have been listening to Sylvian and Japan since I was 15 and am continually grateful that all this material is on YouTube. Unfortunately, the live version of Riverman from 93 has been taken down ( a masterpiece ), so I will have to wait and see if it finds its way back.

  • what's with the dancing panda...otherwise good stuff...my favorite band of the 80's and I never saw them in concert so Thanks

  • I cant believe I just saw that - nver knew it existed until now. A dancing Panda too SURREAL!!!!!!

  • Life in Tokyo INDEED! Wow!! Where do you find it all??! Japan was CRAZY popular in Japan! Insane atmosphere...almost 'beatlesque'? OK - let's say, just a 'little' crazy (dancing bear et al;) yet david and mick somehow pull it together followed by a quick exit! (I think David ran away perhaps). Fascinating, thanks for sharing.

  • I can't believe I've just watched that!!!! OMG: I went to the Farewell gig in Liverpool, round about October 1982 and that has just brought back SO many memories for me. I even remember the trousers David Sylvian was wearing!!! I've still got my programme, in pristine condition and will never part with it. Thank you very much for that. xxxx

  • easy for me to say i know but they must have been mad to split when they did. they were so so good. what a shame.

  • omg this is amazing!!! listen to that crowd scream!!! I <33333 JAPAN

  • You are amazing, Chris. Thank you so, so much for sharing this with all of us :D.

  • Where on earth do people find this footage???-this is amazing-for posterity value alone!!-also the date-16th December-my birthday!!

Thanks you for posting this-very rare indeed!!

  • You're welcome!

I can't even remember where I got this or indeed most of the footage I have!

    hehehee!!!

thanxx again Chris for your heart of gold and share with us !

    I'll be patiently waiting for

"fall in love with me" video ...

  • You're welcome!

Indeed, it's fun to seem them all larking around on stage.

Now for the bad news...I have lost the disc with the rest of the footage from this show, I have pulled my hair trying to find it...

    :-(

  • There's any hope for finding the rest of the footage before you turn bold?¿!!..

    :-(

  • now why couldn't that of been included on the oil on canvas video, classic!!

  • I know! Even if the quality wasn't superb, it would be an excellent addition...

  • AMAZING!!!! Thank you!xxx

  • You're welcome!

This one is for everyone who just thought Japan were always stuffy and serious!

    ;-)

  • Oh my goodness that has to be the best Japan clip ever and god knows I have seen all the ones on here, thank you ever so for putting it up.

I mean I cannot seriously believe that I just saw David Sylvian both smiling AND singing, I really didn't think he could do both.

    LOVE

  • Glad you like, sorry the quality is so dodgy...

...I'll try to add "Fall In Love With me" when I have some time!

  • Hi Chris, do you have an exact date for this? Thanks so much for posting it.

  • Yes indeed, I meant to put the full details in the description. The Nagoya show was performed on the 16th of December 1982.
