  • saw this show at Bonds.fantastic!

i'm seen just off stage right during "london calling."

  • hell yeah, the clash!

  • i used to swallow etc etc

  • i used to play this a helluva lot in 1990 whilst going through my 2nd phase of them...only after coming off an unsatisfied period of B.A.D. 1...pardon the pun.

  • Topper is clearly high from 1:23, but you know he could very well have been in this taxi taking it to Electric Ladyland where he laid down all of Rock the Casbah by himself in late '81 the very night this video was taken.

  • Clash City Rocker since 1977

  • So .. Europe was not enough: they had to go to America to continue The Clash, for all the people in their homeland who thought they had done the dash for money.

  • i love the clash since 1977

    p.s.: i was born in 1986

  • i love Clash since 1996.

    p.s.: i was born in 1997.

  • I HAD TO WAIT A LOT TILL THOSE FUCKERS SHUT UP WITH THAT RAP,I KNOW IT WAS A SOCIAL EXPRESSION AND ALL,BUT SHUT THE FUCK UP,LET ME HEAR SOME CLASH

  • I'm sitting here in my safe American home, clicking the like button.

  • I seen them at the apollo ''glasgow in 1978 when i was just a skinny wee punk. The concert was brill and the name of the tour was give em enough rope

  • Why did they boo the rappers in the beginning, they were pretty fly.

  • @elementz1986 I don't imagine they were actually booing the rapping dudes..just cut that way with the film..especially with their love affair with NY rap at the time and choice of support act for the bonds shows (period this footage comes from!)

  • @elementz1986 I don't know if anyone responded already, but he is saying " Hooo ". That was the thing back then, if you liked it - "lemme hear ya say HO! Hoooo" etc They were big hip hop heads, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious opened half the shows in this concert series. Those were the days

  • @junkhop

Yep. I was there on night 2, with GMF, then The Sirens, then the Clash. Just blind luck I purchased the correct type of ticket and that the fire marshal closed it down the next night. This was the show that Steve Buscemi was at where we boo'ed GMF off the stage and Joe came out and read us the riot act for not giving them a chance. Threw cups at 'em, yes we did.

Next year they would write 'The Message', no doubt inspired by The Clash who wrote about what they saw in the westend.

  • Dammit, I'd kill to see them. Someone please invent a time machine so I can get out of this terrible music era.

  • @xDeadPunk77x Don't sell music short, bud....While this song is most certainly rowdy, there is absolutely grips and grips of great music to be found in every era, including this one. You just have to look

  • May someone explain me the beginning please? 0.0

  • @thecoolestfreak It was from when the Clash visited New York City I believe.

  • BOO! lol

  • i wish i was born earlier '96 wasnt early enough to c all the concerts

  • whats in the bag paul?

  • I wonder what "etc, etc..." means

  • Hey clementles: It's (but Johnny "undercover" wasn't very sympathetic) not Johnny Thunders was a very... Think about it....it's an undercover cop in Jamaica that busted him for paying for a "local anesthetic" (marijuana).....understand now...

  • @FlashToGreen the lyric is actually `the johnny on the corner, was`nt very sympathetic`

  • he is up there. dont forget RAT SCABIES!. R.I.P. Joe Strummer!

  • I think too that Johnny Thunders was a very sympathetic.

  • @clementles

    No, no, it's written "pathetic"...

  • @beowulven Pfff YOU are pathetic.

Don't offense Johnny Thunders. And Joe Strummer really likes him.

But I'm pretty sure Flash that Joe is talking about him.

  • @clementles

Don't "offense" Johnny Thunders? Is anyone posting here out of kindergarten?

  • @clementles

Ah, a Frenchman. It all becomes clear...

  • what's this from?

  • Ive been listening to the clash before i remember

  • I'm 3 years old and rock The Clash in my crib. MTV Cribs.

  • @beowulven no its not, and u just proved ur real age

  • @PBANDSNOW

  • im 18.......?

  • I love this band and i'm 15 too!

  • hah i am 12 and i know all there songs, and have all there albums lol

  • I'm pretty sure this is overdubbed w/ the version from Give 'Em Enough Rope, rather than a live recording.

  • you re right...overdubbed...still LIVE they were killers...JONES played too loud, the drums were miked up like they played stadiums...then THE DID PLAY the stadiums and it was too late...they sacked TOPPER the were never the same!

  • the clash at their explosive best for me !sitting here in MY safe European home, that's topper saying. the smak has got me now. . . glad you are clean now. . .stay that way stay free !!. .

  • im only 6 an i love the bleedin clash

  • liar...yoou're six and you re on you tube looking at the CLASH?

  • No, honestly, I am not lying! I really am only six years of age, and I bleedin' love the bleedin' Clash.

  • ok...i get it...you have the mental age of a 6 year olde but really you're at least 22...

  • I'm thirteen and i absolutely adore the Clash

I havent known them for ages but I feel like I have

somehow I seem to have a taste for older music not the modern R&B crap you get nowadays

The Clash is part of me now

  • what the matter with you!!!!

and for your information I'm not ugly and I am Grade 5 dance in ballet, modern and tap.

  • Saw the original lineup 1979 in Chicago on the "Take the 5th tour" with Bo Didley and The Undertones opening....the show that changed my life!

  • weren`t the undertones great live? I got to see them as well as the clash a good few times back in the day

  • I turned 18 less than 2 months ago, whilst I never SAW the Clash, I FELT the Clash.

I bloody love the Westway to the World footage.

    yeah im an Aussies.

    <3 The Clash.

  • Achilles Last Stand

  • Proud to say I saw 'em live in 1977 at the Manchester Apollo.

  • I'm very jealous.

  • I was only 13 at the time and I must admit I shat myself when they played White Riot as an encore and a full scale riot did break out.

  • I never did have a chance to see them. Im only 16 and my father always badgers me with the fact that he got to see them live :(

  • yea i just started liking the about a year ago an im only 13 and i would kill to see them. to bad joe died

  • same here!

i'm 16, and my dad constantly tells me he's seen them 5 times!

    :(

  • I'm 16 aswell, and I love The Clash, but my dad saw them at the Hammersmith Palais as the warm-up act for Patti Smith. I'm so jealous.

Oh, nad he also siad he came out and saw punks for the first time, and they were wearing bin-liners and safety pins. :D

  • I forgot, it was in '76 =]

  • Proud to say I saw 'em live in 1982 at Bristol

  • You must be near my age then. Superb, weren't they.

  • I saw them in '83 at the Us Festival (Mick's last show) and again in '84. After the second show, I got to go backstage and meet and talk with the band. Joe was utterly nice and unaffected. They all autographed something for me on the only piece of paper I could quickly lay my hands on -- a lightbulb carton!

  • how were paul and mick like?

  • Lucky...I never had the chance to see them b/c I was -8 years old when Mick and Topper were kicked out. I hope to be able to see Carbon Silicon and The Good The Bad and The Queen live

  • Same here.

  • SIMPLY ALUSINATING

  • the only band that matters

  • Don't misunderstand me... just asking(curious person)... they used drugs?

  • they would all often smoke pot but joe had a hate for stronger drugs untill later when he started using ecstacy and psychadelics. topper was also kicked out the band for his heroin addiction.

  • Somebody is very well-informed :]

    Thanks!

  • the y did loads of sulphate in the early days hence the paranoia type lyrics

  • In what sense paranoia type lyrics? Like Police on My Back?

  • that was a cover

  • drug stabbing time?

  • its a vid with the sound track over the top... clever if you listen there is no backround noise in the gig

  • l'unica Band che conta... Thanks for posting

  • I always wondered of Paul had his lunch in that bag.

The chant the kids are singing at the start is used in GO! Team's 'The Power Is On' I think.

  • The Clash kept it real as hell. This song is proof.

  • That's amazing video making right there! I went to the place where every white face in an invitation to robbery!

  • This is from west way to the world...great movies for a clash fan

  • this is from west way to the world...just finsished watching it...awesome movie for a clash fan

  • Good dance music

  • This is the album version. All time classic. Best ending to a song ever.
