Horses are a prey species and as such it's their nature to run first and ask questions later. Most fear is acquired. The more profound the stimulus that produces the fear the harder it will be to eradicate. Pain is probably the most likely stimulus to induce a deep-seated fear.
What these people don't realize, as they are slapping each horse going by that, at least over here, it is considered assaulting a police officer. Both Equine and K-9 units have the same rights as the officers themselves. You abuse the animals, you get charged with assault.
First, I don't believe ANYONE had any malice toward any of the the animals, and non of the horses were harmed. Second, humans come before animals, and whilst I feel sorry for the horses being put into such a dangerous and vulnerable position by the police, I feel more sorry for the peaceful protestors having such an archaic and inappropriate force used against them.
Next anti cuts protest 30th june!!!!!! Organisers say trafalgar sq. If you have slavebook please search "Today's students are tomorrow's pensioners - STRIKE FOR OUR FUTURE" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@llanbo fucking stupid little racist- literally the most pathetic little shits on this planet are people who dont like others cos of their origin or colour of their skin!
I didn't imply he should go home, I merely wondered if he realised the irony of shouting "go home" at British police when he is apparently not British himself. That is not racism.
Also, pointing out that someone is stupid and foreign is not racism, nor is calling them a fucker. Implying somebody is stupid, or a fucker BECAUSE they are foreign might, at a stretch be considered racism, but that isn't what I did.
You STUPID fucker (foreign, white, black, green or otherwise)
@EMPIRE01233 You stupid bastard! The Police have no honor! They defend the greedy and corrupt for petty cash. Those students are protesting their rights. The government is would saddle those students with a burden of overwhelming life long debts that stop them from living their lives freely
@The000URBANSHADOW The students are not protesting for their rights, as they have no rights to further education. They have no rights to government handouts. They have no rights to damage property. They have no rights to block the streets I pay for with my hard earned income. If you want something in this world, do what the rest of us do and pay your way.
@edjthompson You are clearly someone who never went to uni, but has always wanted to. You're now sat in an office doing a job you hate. Am I right?
Whenever has there been a law stating "One who works and pay taxes is allowed to protest and voice their own opinion more than others"? And when has it been the "tax payers" right to tell people otherwise?
Will you then moan and complain when trade unions later this year protest and riot, and possibly damage property?
@thefeuds No you are not. I love my job and chose not to go to university. Did I say that one type of person has more rights than others? No I didn't. I stated the law. Yes I will moan if ANYONE blocks the streets and damages property. You make your argument wholly based on assumption.
@edjthompson Well from what I've been reading, you seem to be on a high horse giving the impression students are not allowed to voice their opinion and frustration.
But of course you are the empitome of wisdom on this matter, everyone should bow down to you, you self rightious idiot. As if you're opinion will amount to anything.
@thefeuds I have never said that students are not allowed to voice their opinions. I have stated that students should do so according to the law. Perhaps if students learned what they are and are not allowed to do, and equally what the police are and are not allowed to do, then we wouldn't be having this debate.
@edjthompson Looking through history, riots in Britain brought around the vote for everyone and the Welfare State. Are you going to condemn those people who smashed things up? I am sure they didn't act according to the law.
It is quick for people to condemn the actions of others without considering the overall motives. This is the first time students since the 70s have risen up in protest. Don't you think that's strange?
You need to take a different stance on the matter.
@thefeuds I understand the motives, and I still disagree with it. Cuts are inevitable. Students running around smashing stuff up is not going to change that. This issue is nowhere near as important as the vote and welfare state 'riots' you refer to. No I don't think it's strange at all, since by now people are used to getting government handouts, and this is the largest cut made in those handouts since then.
@edjthompson This is my last comment. Who are you to say that this issue is no where near as big as the other stated examples? You never went to university, therefore you do not understand the motives and minds of those protesting.
This isn't about young people getting free "government handouts". It's about the future and management of university funding and education as a whole, as it is becoming an elitist sector. Therefore you do not understand what's going on.
@thefeuds The cutting of spending actually helps to solve problems. It cuts the amount of money the country is borrowing, it reduces the amount of graduates. Win/win situation. There are not enough graduates jobs in the country for the amount of graduates there are, which is why a lot of students never end up paying back their student loan.
@edjthompson how will graduates have to pay less if the fees are 3 x more?? what you mean is they pay less back every month- for many, many more years- and yes cuts to spending obviously lead to savings- but cutting basic services right back whilst allowing tax dodging corporations to rob us blind, thats just wrong
@mr420B I never said graduates would pay less, quite the opposite. The fact of the matter is that because graduates aren't getting graduate jobs, because there aren't enough of them for the amount of graduates there are, they never actually earn enough to have to pay back their loan at all. Waste of our tax money. You moan about big corporations, atleast they contribute in some way. The majority of students make no contribution to society or the economy whatsoever
these police horses need to be got rid of all to gether and the police retrained to be sociably acceptable and proventable policing..what we have at the moment is thugs in uniform with very little as of the way of training..well should we pay more money for them ?
Those are very well trained horses actually.....stupid city kids.....lucky you don't get kicked in the head. This is what happens when the nanny state takes away the bottle, though. Can't imagine how it will be in the US when they cut back on food stamps. People don't know how to live off beans, rice and cabbage round here.
@Cjaz84@MichaelEngel Of course the horses are very well trained, I don't think anyone is disputing that. The problem is however, in my opinion, that if u start using police horses at a place where a huge crowd has been kettled, loads of innocent people (YES the majority were protesting peacefully!) will be hit too (as happened at the 2nd protest, pls search on YouTube for "Mounted Police charge protesters at Whitehall 24 Nov"). I think that THIS is what the people at the video were afraid for.
@Levinaism I saw a police officer fall off his horse then the horse jumped on him while he was laying helpless on the ground. It could be dangerous to the police as well as to the animal. In some countries i hear they eat horses that i think might be a better idea than using them to round up student protesters. Hmmm horse sandwich sounds good to me.
@casinohijack yh but if you watch the clip with the horse that jumps over the man he was spooked as along with all the noise his saddle and reflective gear had slipped to the side of him and was rubbing him which scared him so he went to run away from what was scaring him not realiseing that it was attached to him
@obifsil Its a dumb thing to use horses to kettle people. Horses should just be horses do things that horses were meant to do like eat grass and trot around all day. Turning animals on humans is just a dumb way to try and control the masses. Horses should be afraid of the masses. The masses are not afraid of horses and the more angry the masses get the worse its going to be for the horse.
@casinohijack see the funny thing is that there not trying to so that, they only went in due to the fact that the police offices that were holding back the protesters were having trouble as people were getting to the other side, so they sent the police horses in merely to move them back so that the police officers could then regroup in to there lines.
@casinohijack its a lose lose situation really cause the police could of done nothing and it could of turned out like the london riots and then the police would of been slashed at for not doign the right thing but they go in and do the right thing and they still get slashed at saying its wrong what there doing, so they make choice of whats best and to be fair if they weren;t slightly scared they would of stood still and let the horse hit them insted of running back
@obifsil The thing is to learn from the situation and regroup and re-plan another protest. The one thing i would be thinking is of dispersing in different directions that way its not as easy to control people which is what they are trying to do in the first place. The idea is to go some where that the horses are not that way you can still be peaceful protesters. If you want to have a peaceful protest the last thing you need are angry cops on horses.
Don't abuse the horses you wankers it's not like they had anything to do with this... go shout at the banks and government buildings instead of shouting at the horses
the police are stupid thir own children can not go to college but they will pprotect the ruling class how dumb can you get It's obvious that the police are the common enemy of the people police are armed and retarded they will hurt you they only protect the rich
@KYKIN44 And i suppose if someone you loved got raped or murdered you'd tell the police to fuck off and investigate it yourself eh? And if you were being mugged in the street and saw some police nearby you wouldn't call for help from them because they're the 'enemy'. Sort yourself out.
Where i live (not uk but close) these things never escalede near as much as there, and i see this almost every time ppl are demostrating in UK, why is that? And yes ppl demostrate here as well but its -very- rarely that it get this far.
@dtiydr because we, the english are passionate, ive been to 3 student demos now and each one has been filled with passionate young people with emotions running high, its a democratic right to protest with passion
The students that caused criminal damage and violence should be ordered to pay back damages or expelled from there place of studying. They are just vile sick and dumb ass students.
