Is anyone else kind of tired of Jedi and light sabers? I would love a Star Wars movie with little or no Jedi at all. One that follows the exploits of a smugglers, scoundrel, bounty hunter, or the like.

Looking back it is remarkable that anyone was excited for Episode 1 when Lucas was already hard at work ruining his series as far back as the late eighties. Guess we were just telling ourselves it had been a fluke. Maybe in a re-imagining in ten years the jedi could be using walkie talkies instead of light sabers.
I loved this "adventure" when it first came out, but there was no reason why they couldn't have done it in animation. They should at least do it in the Clone Wars TV series style as a one off - it would be awesome as they have Joel McNeely's sound track.

Man, I remember as a little kid getting so excited about the whole idea of this. It had everything, book, novel, game, action figures and so on....it made you want a movie so badly.
This whole project was all before there was even a hint of the prequels coming out....true throwback Star wars.
It was really neat to have two villians pitted against each other. Thats pretty common in Star Wars now, with the Sith and all, but at the time, it was foriegn territory.
Actually there was knowledge of the prequels coming out during this time. There was always rumors and news that would drive you nuts in the Insider and Star Wars Galaxy magazines. Those were awesome times.
I am a STAR WARS fan. And I think that the SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE craze was a very unusual multimedia tool. It had a Book, a Videogame, a Comic Book/Graphic novel, a Musical Soundtrack, Just not a movie THAT's the weird part.

Well George first and foremost is a good story and idea man. He's a genius at that. His personal style of film aint to bad either. But you never know , an animated 'Shadow's' movie directed by George could be sometim special. But yeah , I get it , Lol.

I do not recall such a cartoon movie of Shadows of Empire. Too bad Genndy Tartovsky wasn't making cartoons back then. He could have made a Shadows of the Empire animated movie/mini-series in the same fashion as the Clone Wars mini-series.
