Good question! The bible says he was not handsome or attractive or charismatic in some way that would draw people to Him in the physical sense, but His loving spiritual presence is what drew people. It's a combination of the concepts the golden path and mushin. the golden path is taken from the dune series. Mainly Children of Dune and God Emperor of Dune. It's a hard concept to condense and you can look it up on wikipedia though reading the books give a much better picture.
