I was there for that race......hambones thought it was a scoring error, they couldn't believe he raced from a lap down under green and tore em up. It was the greatest drive I've ever witnessed in person, Pure talent,
It was amazing, as I recall (I was in the infield and keeping an eye on him) he bent up a shifter rod and lost a lap and a turn under green for repairs. He made it up without the benefit of a yellow. He was visibly faster than anyone else in turn 2. It should simply be called The Drive. It was similar to Elliot's work at Talladega when he had the power steering failure, but Talladega is a pure speed track, Pocono was a drive by a talented racer.
ironically, i was at 'dega when elliott made up 2 laps under a green flag, with little help from the draft. it was quite a sight, but ,my God , what richmond did was not of this world.
Actually, that is Brad Teague's car. I remember because he was my favorite when I was a kid, because he drove the Food Country car in the Busch Series. I've met him several times.
You must not be very close to your Uncle if you don't know that about him. Next time you're at a family reunion, you need to ask your Uncle Brad if he was in this race because it says so in the final results.
Actually, isn't this from a satelite feed so they are on commercial break when this all happened? That's why no one is talking (and saying things like "who the hell si that right there") :)
Yeah, the reason why this broadcast was so 'commentarily challenged' was because the broadcast was trimmed to 1 hour for the old Wide World of Sports show. This clip was taken from the raw satellite feed, the actual play-by-play commentary was redone later.
This may have well been a plate race....Smaller carb holes. This was a pretty relaxed race.

well not only is it satellite feed but it was also shown later in the day tape delayed.
So basically they would go back and redub there voices if it was a "bad take"
battalionfan888 3 years ago
@IRLIndyCar That was the best the "Wild Feed" as it was called, you could hear stuff you'd never hear on the broadcast
