This is a good example of what made Jerry so great. He could take even a 2 chord song like this and with his deep knowledge of intervals and scales and the fret board he could endlessly create interesting melodies. He was a master at it.
ive always enjoyed music since a young age cant play cant sing but feel it deep in my soul i remember when i was 14/15 gettin a cb tape it opened a whole new world later on when i was 17 i jumped on board and almost 20 yrs later here we r watchin ourselves havin fun love it...
it was a teenage wedding and the old folks wished them well.what a drag it is that jerry did not do this earlier in his band.but towards the end the only true and true energy only came thru JGB.He was just so tired of playing with the grateful dead and it was painfully evident.Don't get me wrong i saw shoes till the end but it just made me more thankful that i started catching shows in the 70's.
Hey now! Sorry about that... was a bit rude to that person but couldn't help it! Stellar post my friend! Totally love it and love Jer doing that tune. Take care now :-)
@linuspop Holy S*&t I just realized I was at this show too... my one weeknight out a semester, while I going to Worcester Academy. The Shinning Star this night made me cry like a baby oh Jerry
@Jstammfly It always takes me by surprise when I'm looking at JGB and Dead videos on YouTube and realize that I was at the show. Great memories, phenominal music. My brothers took me to my first show when I was 11 and the rest is history...

Hey dude, wire you here if you don't like it.... just pass your way and go watch something you enjoy instead of being a jerk to someone WE happen to respect.
thats great the dude on the kyse must be melvin the last show i did with jerry an that keyboard man melviin at the warfeild san fran it just blew me awaye i was what seemed like 20ft away from jerrys guitar thank you for all
I just SAW Melvin Seals with his New band in L.A.! Great Show! I've seen A LOT of Garcia shows, and I thought his New band Rocked! Of course it's ALL JGB and Garcia tunes so you know Melvin will treat them Very Very Well! ( That was his Favorite Band!) It's Weird how most of the band are dead now.( No pun intended..)I miss THAT arrangement of JGB, However, the NEW JGB would make Jerry Proud! See them if you get the Chance. It will blow your mind...Even Today! Cheers to Melvin! PEACE!
Don't you think it's a little disingenuous to bill yourselves as JGB? I mean come on he passed away over ten years ago. Kind of like the Temptations, they just came to my home town, one original member, Otis Wilson, and he was a backup singer.
The show I saw was actually billed as: "Melvin Seals playing a musical tribute to the music of the JGB." I just called it JGB to save space. Melvin Still Melts It! PEACE!
nobody playes like eather of them at all thanx for clearing that up yes melvin is wonderful jerry just gets the perspective in to place also play a mean as guitar thanx
This is what I think of when I think of Youtube, cool original footage of interest to a few die hard music lovers like myself, thanks for posting! What made this band fun to seee is evident here, the interplay beween Merle Saunders and Jerry Garcia and the band.
melvin channels johnny johnson at the end, so sick

Check that first guitar solo with the little
signature licks..... This is classic Jerry.
He is setting the audience up for the second, third and fourth, solos, where he rips into
it. F-- Jerry doing Chuck. Come on.
