  • @bpurdy305 i dont agree with the sound she makes but everything that follows im a strong believer of... i cant tell you how many times that has been the case with either my tools or my equipment. just be nice to her, she has feelings man, pleeeeease, you might notice axles and joints lasting longer too...

  • Your truck sounds bitchin, what engine and exhaust do you have. Also, trucks to have feelings, but as long as you take care of her, she'll take care of you.

    cool vid

  • sweet video man! keep wheelin

  • @tcav707 Thanks

  • @jayheath2002 I am the type of person that doesn't like to see people ruin nice things, your truck is sweet- maybe take it a bit easier on it?

  • @TheTrobocop Cool man. I love my truck. I also use it to have fun. This video is a very small portion of the off-road fun I have had with this truck the last decade. I wish it was all on video for you to see.

  • You sir, are an idiot. Your truck hates you, and you also suck at driving. "Maybe I just floor it cuz it's a truck!"

  • @TheTrobocop Hey I love your polite beginning to your comment. Calling me sir was nice. What followed shows what kind of person you really are. My truck neither loves nor hates me. Its a machine for me to do with what I want. If I want to floor it or dawg it I will. I only broke a $150 axle shaft. Big deal. I have fun 4wheeling. I also enjoy watching others vids of them 4wheelin. I hope others will enjoy this one.

  • @jayheath2002 life must be hard with a pea brain... you are an idiot. buy some lockers and gears instead of replacement shaft and you might actually make it up a trail...

  • Good tri man! If you have the 4.10 gears you should just drop in a factory e locker. They are easy enough to find.

  • ur a dumbass lern to stop dawgin it

  • sad

  • @viewchico Sad because it was very early morning in the offroad trip, but the challenge was fun. Would have been better to break something later in the day so I could have enjoyed more challenges that day. I still enjoyed watching my friends wheel.

  • hey its bradleyaarondepew again, I now have a 2001 toyota tacoma... and it was special ordered with the 2.7 insted of the 2.4 tht the reg. ones would of had, i cant wait till i do some real off-roading soon in it!

  • I wish the regular cab like mine was available with the factory locker. Someday I wish to install an ARB locker. I love my truck, but its still a work in progress. The only thing scary about making it even more capable is what will I try next.

  • I wish the regular cab like mine was available with the factory locker. Someday I wish to install an ARB locker.

  • I have an 03 Tacoma Extended cab with the TRD package and the rear-differential lock.. i love it! it will basically go anywhere i want it too.

  • im surprised u got that thing up that

  • This is why pickups need speed sensitive front & rear differentials.

    Such as e-gerodisc

  • He did not know how to use rear diff lock? got 1?

  • Hey thanks for the compliments. your Polaris vids make me want one. You can really get some speed with that thing.

  • Nice Taco and nice driving! Don't listen to all these haters, they're sitting at home while you doing

  • Get an Aussie locker, its only $300, no electronics or air like ARB. If you can do brake work, you can put in an Aussie.

  • I really like your truck man ! i have an 02... ps iv heard good things about thows ABS air lockers

  • I got 5VZ-FE 3.4L TRD package but NO 4x4!

TUNDRA is too pricey to do offroad and too heavy to do this fun job Final I like with the same engine 3.4L but 4doors, 5 speeds, and rear diff lock+4x4, better and bigger tires for offroads. Toyota made for USA called Military Toyota which are the Land Cruiser with crawling control, this function is awesome. I like this alot with anti mines...

  • No I don't have a rear diff lock. Unfortunately only the extended cab V6 is available with TRD. I will have to install something like maybe ARBs air locker.

  • Got rear diff lock??? Do you have TRD ??I have the same truck extra cab 2wd, but I got rear diff lock..wish 4x4 start with but!!..I can do semi - offroad only

  • You can have a lot of fun 4 wheeling and exploring without damaging your truck. This is the first and only time I ever broke something in 22 years of offroading. Although I do know people who always break stuff. They are not having fun unless they are pushing it hard enough to brake stuff. Thats when you get a couple of offroad rigs to tow to wheelin sites.

  • my dad just gave me his 04 tacoma access cab trd 4x4, manual transmission. i love it. all i wanna do is level it with a 1 1/2 inch lift and put all terrains on it and do this kind of stuff, just not as rough.

  • jeep guys are like...''hurry up asshole''

  • "it can barely get over because its a toyota".....pretty stupid comment

  • It can barely get over because its a toyota

  • Need rear diff lock

  • I just bought a 2011 Tacoma with the 2.7 and a automatic. Looks almost like yours. I will probably never do this with it, but it's good to know I can.

  • Yes. 2.7Liter

  • 4 banger?

  • Tough truck! That craps rough lol

  • Your pretty good with that clutch

  • @cXcon7 Thanks for the compliment. I like to think I do well. Really its just about having fun for me.

  • that trail looks like an awesome time!! and shit for a stock truck that aint bad. but yeah look in to lockers bro you can get air lockers for a decent price

  • I'll give you credit for a factory truck your doing pretty damn good

  • yall need to learn what a locker does and invest in one

  • @sosby701 I wish I had the money for lockers. In fact, I wish Toyota offered a regular cab in a TRD package. The TRD comes with a factory locker. My buddy's Tacoma is a TRD extended cab with the locker.

I do the best I can with what I have for now. The alternative is for me to stay home, but 4 wheelin' is so much fun.

  • @jayheath2002 I thinked with 2.4L and 2.7L got NO locker!

3.4L with TRD and standard RR DIFF LOCK came with the trucks!

    - If you sell that 2.7L and buy a used truck with 3.4L is much better and cheaper than to install after market rear diff lock!! my friend buy rear diff lock for his 2.7L and he is not happy with it....so just little experience to let you know!

  • I have the same truck. Check out my vids. Fun machine!

  • That rocky stream bed looks awesome! Nice Taco. Air down your tires more and get some rock sliders at least.

  • Hey man thanks a lot i want me a around 3 inch lift with 33s youll have to check out my truck it favors yours a lot.

    Thanks

  • Is tht a 2001 V6 model.....?...............Cause i have a 2001 but it a 4 cylender so mine has the black grill,front and back bumber

  • @bradleyaarondepew My truck is a 2001 Tacoma SR5 4 cylinder. In this area Toyota only puts a 4 cylinder in the regular cab. You would have to get extended cab to get a V6. The reason I have chrome, alloy wheels, and an upgraded interior is because of the SR5 Package.

  • @jayheath2002 ...........Thanks if u dont mind me askin is urs the 2.4 or 2.7L engine???

  • @bradleyaarondepew My truck has the 2.7L. I do believe the 4x4 all come with the 2.7L and the 4x2 comes with the 2.4L. At least thats the way it is in Central Atlantic Toyota Region. Just like we can't get a V6 in a regular cab from Toyota in this region.

  • @jayheath2002 Thank you.

  • How much did your lift set you back?

  • @eckcody15 If I remember right I paid about $450 for the Skyjacker lift parts. Then I paid a mechanic friend $150 to help me install it, and align it. It would normally cost a bit more at an off-road shop. Probably about $1000 total.

  • i love toyotas, never was a fan of a single cab though, so useless for extra stuff,

  • @Stackhouse88101 In most off-road situations the standard cab would perform better. Less likely to get high-centered, easier to maneuver in tight places, and less weight.

So it's a toss up. More room, or better off-road performance? Not everyone needs the extra room. But then again, not everyone needs better off road performance.

  • hell of an effort, but yeah being the small truck there, i dont really think it was built for these types of trails....def invest in some lockers!

  • How low was your tire pressure?

  • This guy is a clown

  • Is that a stock truck? Damn makes me want a Yota. I have a Ranger. :(

  • @PowerhouseRoy Its lifted with 33" tires. But otherwise stock. I had an 86 Ranger when I was younger that I wheeled all over the place. I have fond memories of that truck.

  • Nobody can call Jay a quitter!!!! (but I think he could invest in a winch)

  • @Propelled Thanks for the compliment. I dream of winches, lockers. long travel kits, etc... For now I have invested in friends with winches. The video only shows them getting me out of that tough spot. We were 1/2 mile down hill and I needed a tow all the way out. Thank God for friends. In my defense. I would have never tried that alone. I had three Jeep friends and a bigger Tacoma friend with me. Mine was the little truck.

  • You should get some lockers, nice truck though! How do you like it? I was looking to get one as a first vehicle.

  • Man, do you hear about low pressure in tires ???

  • what the fuck is that motherfucker calling shots for and shit. i'd hit that fuck, annoying voice and errthang. "OK, im done, i'd stop recording" "dont point your arm out"

i don't understand how people can deal with that in these high tension situations

  • @313foxbody420 Ever hear of a spotter? Even professional rock crawlers use spotters.

And as close as that tree was to his open window, since he was obviously concentrating on the trail more than the safely of his arm, he needed to be reminded.

  • it was probly in 4 low

  • yump yump thanks to the clarification i didnt know that.

  • Nice truck. Close call with the trees. The simple looking obstacles can be the hardest to get through.

  • @TheMudToy Thanks for the compliment. The tree had me scared. I thought I was going to wipe out the whole side of my truck. I was banking on one big rock in the stream just to the left of my front tire to keep me to the right of the tree. I'm so glad I calculated correctly. I did enough damage for one trip.

  • why were you on the brake and gas at the same time or are those brake lights liears lol. not being an asshole just asking

  • @ILUVJDM0051

When I tap the brakes the open diff can send torque to all four wheels for just a second. Notice how the truck started to hop as I released the brake. That can be just enought traction to get me over an obsticle, or snap an axle shaft as I demonstrated.

  • thats a 2001 i have the same truck is it a v6 or v4 because the v4 has no power

  • @manisdrillingcompany V4 is that a new motor? Haven't seen one yet

  • @lpar81 now its not i ment a 4 cylinder motor

  • @manisdrillingcompany inline 4*, they dont make a v4*

  • @snarfert i ment a 4 cylinder my toyota is a 2.7L

  • lockers, a must in this situation.

cant beat the wheelbase of the ex-cab,

  • @spam420rice

Lockers are on my list of mods. Along with trail armor.I added rock sliders and removed my sway bar about 6 months ago. Now I have more flex in the front. As you seem to know, flex and traction make all the difference.

  • @spam420rice I agree, he needs lockers. But an extended cab might have too long a wheelbase for where he's at. Either it would get high-centered, or it would require lots of extra maneuvering to get to where he was going.

  • reminds me of my truck, 2000 white shortbed 2.7, 3 inch suspension, 33inch swampers. they do get the job done.

  • Can you give me the specifics of your truck. (year, trim, etc.)

  • 2001 Taco SR5 2.7L 5 Speed. 2 1/2" Skyjacker suspension lift. 285/75/16 BFG Mud Terrain tires. That it.

I took the rear up a total of 3 1/2, welded on rock sliders, and added lights to the front since this video was taken.

  • Thanks. It's a nice truck.

  • Thank you for the compliment. It's refreshing to hear from you, and others who aren't just trying to be mean.

  • @jayheath2002 how do you like the Skyjacker suspension your running?

  • Its called back up and try a new line you dumb fuck. . Sorry ,. but learn to drive

  • hey there,

fun video, too bad you lost an axle.

i think if you put in lockers. you would have owned that trail without problems like you were having..

and would have not snapped your axle humping like you were !!

    cheers

    Warts

  • tacomas mob. id like to see a stock ford or chevy mob that

  • @czechme0909 did you watch the vid all the way through?....

  • Did you have the front sway bar disconnected? Even with the IFS it can help quite a bit.

  • I did not have the sway bar disconnected. My jeep buddies disconnected. It isn't easy to disconnect the Tacoma sway bar link. I just disconnected it last week to see how it handles on the road. It has been fine so I am going to remove the sway bar in a couple of days and leave it off.

  • Toyota's are made here in America unlike ford, chevy, dodge, and other "american" vehicles.

  • All USDM Ford, GM, and Dodge trucks are assembled in North America. As are Nissan trucks as well. And they all use some parts made in other countries.

  • My California built by Americans truck has allowed me to tow many broken down Canadian and Mexican built American vehicles out of the lanes of traffic. Thats right, I help people without putting them down. I pray you can learn to be as kind.

  • U have too much money in ur pocket...y a Tacoma?...Tacoma arent built for off-road...could of use tat money for a complete built old school Toyota pickup or 4Runner 84-88...

  • Geee man!, imagine if they were built of off road!

Yes is true, old yotas are still better than new ones for extreme offroading, but newer ones are nice too.

    Nice truck btw.

  • give up off-roading now. you're embarrassing yourself

  • A stock 2WD tacoma ? not smart... thats just dumb

  • The truck is 4X4, lifted 2 1/2" with 33" Mud-terrain tires. Not yet the best rock crawler but getting there. I just added 2 more inces to the rear and rock sliders. Lockers, front and rear bumpers are in the future for it.

  • buy lockers......nice start tho

  • nice start? the moron snapped his driverside front axle shaft from shock-loading and you recommend Lockers? try Driving practice on simpler trails and obstacles first. This dude would roll and kill someone if he had lockers.

  • This guy should win TOOL OF THE YEAR

  • I like your truck. is it 4x4 ?

  • if you look at the front tires you can tell, yea it is.

  • Nope, its obviously 2wd. This is evident by all 4 wheels spinning at about 0:46.

  • sorry but this truck is 4x4

  • Really? I think you're wrong (and have very little reading comprehension).

    DA

  • it looks stock!

U should get the BFGoodrich All Terrian if u dont have them they gripe like no other we have sum on ur 04 Toyo

  • wasnt exactly the smartest trail ride, but i bet it was fun. I got a 97 Tacoma lifted on 33s. They sure are a blast to 4 wheel in.

  • You got that right. It was my 2nd most expensive trail ride. The most expensive had no carnage. Just a lost digital camera.

  • front or rear axle snap?

  • It was the front right axle shaft. It was extended all the way down and turned all the way left. To much stress.

  • lockers look really helpful here. so does lower tire pressure.

  • pretty trails, where are you doing this?

  • looks fun!!!! hey i noticed you didnt have DRLs did you disable them?

  • My truck didn't come with DRLs. I can leave my lights on all the time and when I turn off the truck they will go out when I open the door. But no DRLs on the 4cyl SR5.

  • so you can actually turn off your lights like while driving?

  • Yes. Yours must be extended cab. The regular cab mirrors and lights are different.

  • yea its an extended cab =[

i wanna learn how to disable them.....

  • I agree 100%. Lockers and rock sliders are the next adds for this truck. Then I'll re-climb the same rocks for everybody to see.

  • Toyota's are great rock climbers but looks like you could use locks up front & on the rear!!!

  • Cool. You definitely need to get a lock for your rear differential. And a stock pre runner can take up to 285 tires.

  • Sorry, 285/75/16

  • You can run 265/75/16s. I do believe the stock tires are 265/70/16s. You would only be going from 30.6" tall to 31.6" tall.

  • how big of tires can u put on a stock perunner?

  • yikes... The taco is way to long to go play on rock. You would need to invest bunch of money for it to be rock ready :P

Tacomas aren't pure offroad vehicles, but they do better than any other pickup out there.

  • hmm a hilux should get up there easier than that. looked like the 4 wheel drive wasnt working properly

  • Are those stock 16in wheels? If so, they are 8in wide... I know for sure b/c i measured them w/o tires... A rear factory locker would have helped lots... Good luck with ur truck... Love my 04 tacoma...

  • 4 cylinder 5 speed?

  • i got 35's (315 75 16) on my 3rd gen runner on my stock 7in wheel and air down to 10psi or so every trail ride... dont be scared to air down.

  • pretty good for a stock set up

  • hes got new shocks so its got 2.5 inch of lift and 33's on it. To bad its not the TRD off road edition with rear locker. He needs that and sliders and more protection on the truck

  • Doesnt it piss you off how the "jeep" guys just love laughing at the Toyota?

  • The Wrangler really is an unbelievable offroad machine, but you must know that I had to wait for my Jeep friends going down the road. They couldn't travel over 50 mph while I can roll 80mph if neccessary. I also drove for two weeks with the broken axle shaft. I had to tow anouther Jeep friend who blew his trans. Toyota's are just Dependable. There are pros and cons to both vehicles. I didn't belong where I was with IFS. I'm not upset. Lets all go 4 wheelin. Toys Jeep Chevys Dodges etc...

  • Remove the front sway bar, get a cheap rear locker and you're set.

  • try better gears

  • I would love to do the double transfer case and locker. Until then I don't belong on that rough/tough of a trail. I'm a little afraid to air down since the 33s don't belong on my 7 inch wide wheels. They might pop off. So I also need 8 inch wheels. Then I also need sliders. I dented the right lower bed just infornt of the rear wheel, behind the cab. I'm glad it wasn't 6 inches forward. Then it would have been the cab corner. Actually I'm ordering sliders this month. Then other stuff.

  • you know, less air pressure and less throttle works alot better,

  • hi por que no usas el sitema de diff lock? kon eso te evitarias forzas mucho el carro, mira mis videos para que observes la diferencia, usando ese sistema no se patina el carro

sale que estes bien byee see you

  • I have a 2001 2.7, regular cab, do you know what size the rear end is, I was trying to find out, to see if I could find a locking rear, or a locking front for it ?

  • should be the 8.4 inch axle

  • No. I have 2 1/2" suspension lift and 33" BFG mud terrains. The drive train is stock. Thats why I had so much trouble with 2 open diffs. The videos don't always show how tough an obsticle is. My truck did well considering. Its my fault the axle broke. I was braking and making the front open diff switch sides. The hopping combined with turning and the rocks put way to much torque on cv axles.

  • was that thing stock
