This is actually a balloon with a candle stuck at the bottom. hot air causes it to rise .They fly over our camp every year and we decided to follow them last year and we figured out where they start and end.

We used to do this when we were kids in the 60's, It's a dry cleaning bag with straws for struts across the bottom with birthday candles on the struts. It acts as a hot air balloon until the candles burn down, catching the straws, then the bag on fire. The dripping effect is the melted bag on fire. We scared a lot of people with this trick.

it was a (up-side-down) paper bag with a candle in it on little dowls. you light it and the heated air makes it rise up and glow untill it catches fire and appears to drip untill it goes out.

you know, back a 100 yrs or so ago, people thought the were faeries. one thing for sure, they have been around since man started writing stuff down.

I think they are extra dimensional manifestations. even that french cat that was in "close encounters" describes them as "Demonic".

no way this is a lantern. the flight patterns are way too erratic at the back end of the clip, especially how the object darts up into the sky and disappears. Ive seen lots of crazy stuff, and this is up there with the rest of em. If you think this is a lantern you're a fool.

I used to build such a hot air balloon long time ago. All you need is: very light but firm paper, made cross with aluminum wires (or balsa wood) to hold aluminum cola or beer can, cotton swab soaked with alcohol inside that can. Fire alcohol and balloon will soon fly if everything is okay. Sometimes whole balloon burn if angled due to sudden change in wind speed. Then it looks like firework.

Used to make them as a teen with my friends. Plastic dry cleaner bags, thin balsa frame at the bottom with candles. Small birthday candles.16 to 20 candles. Homemade hot air balloon. Big orange-red balls of light going across the sky at night. People called the airport, police and radio station reporting U.F.O.s What a lot of fun. Ha. ha, ha.

Ha.. ha.. ha..... made these as teenagers, basically homemade small hot air balloons powered by candles. Had people around the city calling the airport, police and radio stations reporting UFO's.... lot's of fun,,,,from a bit of distance you see an orangeish-redish glow going across the sky. Clear dry cleaner bags..you can use garbage bags.. balsa wood frame at the bottom and candles... birthday candles might be good or a bit bigger... freak people out...
