Yes sir, it was a large mouth. I'm sure we have some smallmouth in Texas, but I haven't had the pleasure of catching one. Heard they are addicting and fun to catch. I'm pretty much a bass or catfish guy. Okay, I like all fishing. Have fished the National Trout Derby in Livingston, Montana; northern pike near Canada; mahi mahi in Hawaii; muskees in the south; and reds/trout/flounder along the coast. Hard to beat a good time on the water.

@Deepsr all bass basically have the same coloring. that bass has probably been in the sun longer. as opposed to a fish that has been in the grass or shady areas being a darker green. and from the looks of it, he caught it in a pretty open space...so that could be it. but its definitely a large mouth. (:

WOW! nice catch, the rattle trap you were using, was it a lucky craft Model LVR D-15?

Not sure the model - sorry. I'm a pretty standard bass fisherman: spinner baits w/ trailers, rubber worms (purple), and rattle traps. I believe this one was another type of rattle trap it was more of a real shad design. I'll also throw a crank bait, jig or buzz bait if the weather and conditions are right. Like most hunting and fishing -- there has to be a hint of luck. But, the more I play the luckier I get.
